We're new to YMLA this year. It's early in the school year but our son looks forward to going to school and that I have to appreciate. Kudos to the faculty and staff for all that they do.

This school is mediocre at best and barely scrapes the surface of a good school. I do not recommend this school to anybody with better options. The students are unruly and disobedient, and the principal is always trying to come up with some dumb gimmick to push down students' throats. Once again, if you have better options, do not put your child in this school.

Students are given ipads to complete homework assignments. I think its very helpful to students and can increase their ability to develope organization skills using electronic devices and cuts down on paper use. The only negative is that if a child doesnt happen to have wifi at hime then they cant utilize online resources or submit their work from home.

The boys all have assembly every morning before first period and receive pep talks and have discussions about a variety of topics and many of them are tailored to boys and young men. The principal leads a lot of them himself. In an era where boys arent getting the mentorship from positive male role-models within their home and community that older generations got- this is fantastic. It has been a blessing for my son even though his father is active in his life. You can never have too many positive role models!

Overall my son feels safe everyday at YMLA amongst peers and staff. He is pushed to do his best academically and teachers notify me when he starts slacking. They encourage the boys to participate in school sports and school spirit events.
I have seen schools that are tougher academically but i feel that this one does pretty well and gives my son a well-rounded experience.
