Everyone is accepted into these schools, but they make parents feel like there’s a wait list and a lottery system. They keep shutting down and changing names, advertising to families who aren’t from the U.S. and distrust public schools. This place is a nightmare. Check more reviews online. These schools are managed by a Turkish group, so there are many teachers with thick accents. There’s a lot of turnover due to low pay, and there’s little to no parent involvement. The school rankings are incredibly low, but they’re good at providing data that makes them look otherwise.

As a former teacher I would never send my child to one of these schools. The charter system is so broken that a simple name change allows them to continue. I live in worry of retaliation as do many. Silence and loyalty from imported teachers who have no other options are the only reason these same people continue.

This school system is bad. The communication is terrible and the admins lie a lot and they change the narrative to fit thier stories. They don't provide services for IEP it is all words and paper work but no actual service delivered. The teachers most of them are attitude and they yell. Bathrooms are dirty and have pee on the floor. The principal does not help when tou go and ask for his attention to certain matters. Be careful if you have a child with special needs, you need to keep documenting all your communications, concerns, conversations, and requests. They do dismiss most of the parents concerns and they jump to discipline immediately before even guiding or instructing students. Terrible school systems need to be closed.

There are over a hundred of these charter schools. They are run by an Islamic centered movement, called Gulan. They continue to change names, use the schools to funnel money and bring Turkish teachers on visa’s. There are numerous investigations but unfortunately politicians are often swayed with lavish trips and campaign contributions and parents who speak up are blocked from social media. Negative reviews are deleted almost immediately. Any awards the school receives or accolades, are almost always made up. The schools target “low income” or “underprivileged” students because those parents are trained to be grateful. These charters claim there’s a lottery and students are lucky to be enrolled but the truth is, the students in these schools are victims, anything but lucky.

We had such a horrible experience at SST Willowcreek; they lack communication and misread situations, as if it's our fault. We were super patient with the staff and counselors, but the issues were never solved between my 4-year-old and his behavior in class. It felt like they thought what was happening in class was not important, yet they had me picking him up every day due to them not having a game plan for him. They would just wait it out until he got worse. It got so overwhelming, he got suspended a day before his winter party/winter break that was around the corner, and their only solution was "we will have a meeting when we get back from break." They didn't even let him participate in his school play. The good thing was that I had already gotten in contact with a public school that was willing to take him in ASAP, so I was not worried about a "meeting" whatsoever, but I still emailed the counselor because I had HIGH hopes that they could give me some type of guidance. AS EXPECTED, BIGGEST red flag was when I asked for an update on a meeting, they said, "Let's see how he does this week." Excuse me? NO! I want a meeting now! What is the game plan here?? My son is suffering and i cant even meet for a simple meeting? Moral of the story, I would not recommend this school for kids. I could see this school being great for older kids, maybe 7th-12th grade, but for little ones like my son, they don't know what they're doing, unfortunately. It's a charter public school, but they do not offer what regular public schools do. I'm not sure if it was the curriculum in the classroom or the teacher, but my son hated going. My son is thriving and doing well at his new school, and is excited to go every day.

I cannot express how happy we are with SST The Woodlands. We truly appreciate the school’s core values, which are reviewed daily with the students. The teachers are incredible—so dedicated and passionate about what they do. In particular, Mrs. Kacer, the science teacher, stands out. She is extremely committed and consistently makes a positive impact on students through her innovative teaching methods. We also love Mrs. Rincón, the art and Spanish teacher, who brings creativity and energy to her classes.

My children adore their 4th and 2nd grade teachers, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Holland. Both have outstanding teaching styles and maintain excellent communication with parents through ParentSquare.

Our son, who loves math and technology, has truly thrived at SST. He was selected to compete in the national Math Kangaroo competition, where he performed exceptionally well. He is also highly advanced in coding and, at only 9 years old, has already created two computer games—an incredible achievement that SST helped make possible.

We plan to remain part of the SST family and highly recommend the school to families who value structure, discipline, and academic excellence. However, it’s important to note that SST enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy—students with repeated behavioral issues may be dismissed after three violations. This approach helps maintain a respectful and focused learning environment.

We pulled both of our academically-advanced children from this school after one regrettable semester, due to its highly toxic environment. Violent children who regularly assault the well-behaved students were permitted to remain in the school and classroom time and time again. Teachers were mistreated, disempowered, and turnover was high. The Principal was non-transparent, dishonest, and widely incompetent in the matters of leadership, accountability, and communication. We never heard back from the Superintendent’s Office, as they turn a blind eye and deaf ear to serious matters. We were so relieved to exit this noxious mess of an institution. It is run very poorly at a micro and macro level.

As a parent, I enrolled my child at the School of Science and Technology with high hopes. The school promotes itself as a rigorous, STEM-focused environment, but unfortunately, our experience has been frustrating and deeply disappointing. One of the main reasons we chose this school was for its emphasis on science and technology. However, the academic rigor they advertise does not match reality. Many of the courses feel rushed, poorly structured, and inconsistently taught. My child often comes home confused and frustrated, saying that lessons are either too fast-paced or lack clear explanations. There’s a heavy focus on memorization and standardized testing rather than actual understanding or hands-on learning.Another major issue is the high teacher turnover. Several of my child’s teachers have left mid-year, and substitutes or replacements are often unqualified or unprepared. While some teachers genuinely care and try their best, others lack experience and classroom management skills. This inconsistency makes it hard for students to thrive.Despite claiming to care about student success, the school offers little meaningful academic or emotional support. My child has struggled in a few subjects, but tutoring and extra help are minimal or unavailable. There’s also little attention given to students' mental health or overall well-being, which is concerning in such a high-pressure environment.
I wanted this school to be a place where my child could grow, be challenged, and enjoy learning. Instead, it’s been a source of stress and disappointment. I sincerely hope the school takes serious steps to address these issues, but based on our experience, I would not recommend it to other families.

Hello concerned parents, my name is Patricia McInquiry, and my child attends SST The Woodlands in 8th grade, In the past month, she has reported sewage fluid leaking from the ceilings AND a tile bursting and flooding the room. They barely have enough teachers, an they throw teacher assistants in spots hey aren't qualified for. They say they focus on STEM, but they are a below average education (except ELAR and math). In addition, my kid qualifies for NHS and advanced classes, both of which they took away. As a school that is said to focus STEM and a higher quality education, they should not be taking away advanced classes, which is what they promised to us. PLEASE, If you can about your kid, don't send them here.

The school is not concerned with the children safety at all. After a teacher incident physically touching child. School never relieved him from duty to investigate. Instead they allowed him to continue to work with the other children. Principal only cares for money donations for school. You will constantly get emails asking for money donations to eat with you children and for VIP parking.

It’s nice to have a place you can leave a review about The School of Science and Technology, and not worry your review is being deleted. Although that experience was at The Woodlands location, we have since learned they operate all of their schools from the same platform. I encourage all parents to do their due diligence and research more about charter schools. If we had known everything, we could have saved our children the trauma of being subject to the dangerous ineptitude in this chain of charter schools.

My experience with SST the Woodlands. I have three kids attending woodlands SST this year 2023 starting August. In the beginning of the year we had an incident with one the substitute teachers who denied my 7 years old son going to the bathroom and when we complained about that his teacher who came back to work the next day claimed that he was missing around in the bathroom and he didn't actually need to go (Given that the teacher wasn't in school that day - the substitute teacher was there. When we went to the school to discuss with the teacher she insisted on her claim and brought my son to confirm her claim and when my son denied her claim she started yelling at him in an unprofessional manner. We contained the issue and moved on regardless after the principal was informed to take the necessary measures to prevent that from happening again. a few weeks later I received a call from SST to come over immediately to pick my son as the teacher got him out of the class , when I asked what he did they refused to tell me anything over the phone instead they threaten me if I didn't show up in one hour they will call CPS to pick the kid with no valid reason why he need to get out of his class in the first place.

I rushed there under the impression that there was something major happening and when I got there I found my son sitting alone and when asked what he did he said I was talking to my friend when the teacher started yelling at me and asked me to leave the class immediately . I asked to see the teacher or the principal or anyone who can explain to me what is going on the refused to explain or to even talk to me which I think is against every school regulation I am aware of.

I asked for my two other kids to leave the school as I didn't feel that that school is a good place or safe for my kids to stay anymore. I also got to know that many parents already took a similar decision of leaving that school in the 1st semester as we did. I would really appreciate if you can look into the way that SST is being managed for the children mental health and wellbeing as after that incident I would be really concerned about mistreatment of children in that School .

The school principal knew the incident and refused to meet or even give a valid reason for what happened, the school threatened us to call CPS to pick up our kid that was kicked out in class for asking his friend for help in a math problem.

Unprofessional office staff. A few need professional development in how to conduct yourself when you are visible to the public. We can hear you “quietly” talk about parents, we can SEE your facial expressions and even if the parent you are talking about does not understand Spanish, someone in the lobby just might! You can be seen and heard. Remember that!

What more is there to say?
“Test scores at this school fall below the state average. This suggests that most students at this school may not be performing at grade level”.
Why waste an hour of your day driving your kids to a crummy school? At least when you send your kids to local public schools, you aren’t paying transportation costs or wasting your day in the car.

This may be the Worst school in the Houston area. The "teachers" believe in busy work instead of teaching the course. The "administration" is the biggest joke at the school. A student threatened to shoot the school up, and not one line of communication was given to the parents. I have spoken to at least five teachers; of those 5, 3 had certificates in areas they DID NOT TEACH. How does this make sense? There is no funding for the special education department as, well. I have a child who qualifies for 504, but I was informed by the head of the special education department that she does not have the resources at this campus to help my child. I will be putting my children back in public school.

My son is 7th grade is a member of the GT program and loves the activities and learning plan . This past year has been a challenging one I indeed l, however SST made sure the children did not miss any lessons or get behind, 2021 is going to be great school year and I very confident and pleased with the results SST has projected in my children’s educational progress

They send constant reminders to students about assignments, due dates and tutoring opportunities in order to ensure the student achievement.

Defective leadership. The school gave ALL students the SAME password for all online platforms. As a result, virtual learning was extremely disruptive with students logging in to each others' accounts to make vulgar comments and threats. Only when someone said they'd blow up the school did the IT department tell everyone to change their passwords. And they didn't even shut down the bad chat threads that went off the rails! How embarrassing for a STEM school. They did not enforce even the most basic computer literacy by requiring everyone have a different password.

Administration has tried to cover up their mistakes by lying.

My boys complained that the bathrooms had no doors.

The teachers are great. Truly. But administration has made the school unbearable.

No sports. You must pay to participate in clubs. No music. Thankfully, the art teacher is great.

Never consistent. weeks with no communication then tones of homework. spelling test here and there so we never know if we have spelling words to study or not

Posted: February 20, 2020

Some are amazing. Others are first year no experience should not be hired kind really.

Posted: February 20, 2020

They talk about it but don't fully put it into action.

Posted: February 20, 2020

I think the language barrier hurts them a lot. They need to improve on the English speakers in the school.

Posted: February 20, 2020

They have a small Sped department. Standard testing for disability help.

Posted: February 20, 2020

No they don't have a counselor to help curve it either.

Posted: November 14, 2019

I don't see there is much leadership in the school. The principal is always in meetings with the district. He can be very offensive with the way he tells parents to read a self help book when they bring problems to his attention. Maybe it is his english that causes him to come across so rude, as if the book will correct the parents thought instead of fixing the issue.

Posted: November 14, 2019

I have no experience with their Special Ed. They do have a store and teach the kids how to count money. They even have a small cash register. I think it is important to teach life skills

Posted: November 14, 2019

No sadly they do not. However, this year I have not seen the teachers yelling at the students in the hall like last year. So maybe they are on a uphill slope and things will be better or at least not as openly acceptable. Will update if we continue on to the 2020-2021 school year.

Posted: November 14, 2019

I wish I had more positive to say about the school. They just are going down hill each year. It started out as a way to get out of your zoned school district. I am not sure they are any better than public. The food is so bad, and I have tried it myself. Teachers and administration is a revolving door. If you can't keep your teachers you can't run a good school.

Posted: November 14, 2019

They will work with your children if they didn't do well on state testing, but do not look at grades for tutoring. I don't think they have to staff to help all the kids or it is being mismanaged. They no longer have a library due to budget. I have never heard of a school with out one Ms. Pfluger was an amazing asset, how do you help the students to love reading and learning in general without a functioning library?

Posted: November 14, 2019

They do have signage and talk about it. But there is not a lot of activities that they offer to really insteal these traits into the students. When they send out information to the children it could be turned into a character item but they fall a little short of that. For example are trying to participate in a thankgiving day walk, but the failed to send anything character related or why it is important to participate. It is almost like they are doing the minimum and not putting their full effort into communication. In the end if the parents can not see your purpose what good is it? Nothing comes home that shows character is being taught.

This school has been excellent for my son. The teachers and staff are extraordinary and very intentional about everything they do. From the big things (like designing the curriculum) to the smallest details (like planning class retreats)...the school really puts a lot of thought into their decisions. The teachers are just phenomenal and create interesting, yet challenging, class experiences. My son always comes home excited about something interesting or cool he has learned...
