Harmony Cedar Park offers challenging stem-based curriculum that engages your student on a daily basis. We have been a part of Harmony for several years and we have enjoyed being a part of this community. We love the diversity of the student population, the support of the staff, and the administration.

We’ve had a wonderful experience at Harmony Science Academy – Cedar Park. The administration here is genuinely trustworthy and approachable — they communicate clearly, respond quickly to concerns, and truly care about the students’ success and well-being. You can tell the leadership team puts a lot of thought into building a positive school culture.

The teachers are nurturing, supportive, and dedicated. They go above and beyond to make sure students feel encouraged and challenged. My child loves coming to school every day and has grown both academically and socially. The community is very family-oriented — parents, staff, and students all work together, which gives the school a warm, close-knit feel.

The academic standards are high, but what stands out most is the caring environment. You really feel like your child is known, not just a number. I would absolutely recommend Harmony Science Academy – Cedar Park to any family looking for a safe, welcoming, and academically strong school with trustworthy leadership.

This school is by far one of the best elementary schools we’ve experienced. The staff is incredibly responsive, and the environment is both warm and welcoming. They go above and beyond to support students not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. The principal is open to new ideas, values feedback, and ensures that every voice is heard. Teachers are equally supportive and welcoming, creating a strong sense of community where students thrive.

I don't recommend this school at all. I've been inside the school twice only to be rushed out, not even a hi or a hello. They are very cold. The teachers are unsympathetic and write emails from ChatGPT. The only positive reviews have been written by staff. Terrible and unsafe school. They lost my son today and I will write every single review until my name is known.

This is our second year at Harmony Science Academy at Cedar Park and we love it. The teachers are caring, the classrooms are diverse, the playground is new, there are many parents who volunteer so they can be with their kids during their recesses and lunches, and there is a safety officer on site. Our kids come home each day with lots of stories to tell about what they learned, art they made, and how fun it is to be there with their friends. The principal really listens if your child has challenges. Younger grades have a ton of social interaction with their peers and teachers, and the older grades are given more responsibilities that will prepare them for middle school. There are on-campus, after-school clubs that offer many topics for children to further explore, with various offering of Art, Rubiks Cube, Robotics, Origami, Cinema, Drama, and Math Kangaroo. We feel that this is an amazing education for our children.

Staff writes their own reviews to create artificially high numbers.

The ratios on this website take all staff in the building (janitor included) and divide that by the students.

My child was new to school in general because she was home schooled for kindergarten by my mom. We left CA and came to TX mainly for the schools. When she first came to Harmony, she wasn't doing very well because she had a difficult time processing information. She was in the 10th percentile on her MAP test. By the end of the year, she grew so much she was in the 60th percentile of how much growth she made. She always would talk about how much she loved her school and her teacher. I asked if she wanted to go back to CA, but she said she would miss her school; mind you, we left family to be here, and even though she misses her family, she loves her school so much that she does not want to leave. Yes, class sizes are large and students may not get a chance to get lots of personal attention, but the support they get is great, and teachers and staff work hard to see the kids grow in academics and social emotional maturity.

Packed classrooms are the norm here. Many parents have the misunderstanding that Charter means lower class sizes - it is the opposite - as Charters do not have to follow state law of 22 or fewer students. The ratios listed on this website are based on the entire staff size divided by students - it’s a gimmick. It is normal for teachers to have 26+ students without a teacher aid. The administration - both local and the Board of Directors - will not listen to parent concerns because the law doesn’t require it. Per the building and fire code, each classroom’s physical size and number of students are all on the verge of the maximum capacity if not exceeded.

There is extremely high teacher burnout/turnover which results in excessive absences or leaving of posts. Specials teachers are substituting full time instead of completing their primary jobs. There aren’t enough substitutes to meet the demand which is less than ideal for meeting curriculum goals.

Clubs are not well established. If a teacher leaves, which happens often, the entire program dies. (Robotics)

The physical location is in an industrial area, which I consider to be direct environmental pollution. Furthermore, the school sits over abandoned oil pits. The location is further exacerbated by the lack of forethought in pickup and dismissal paths. For 700+ students there is one single point of entry for pick up and drop off, with no staggered release times. Due to the lengthy process, parents and neighboring business employees are agitated and driving erratically. It’s a tragedy waiting to happen.

There is low parental involvement in almost all volunteering activities which impacts the morale of the teachers and student activities.

STEM education is definitely a marketing tool at this school. Parents send their kids to school because they only take one variable into consideration - testing scores- and overlook a whole slew of issues at the school - terrible leadership that doesn’t want to actually engage parents, unsafe overcrowded school located in a business park, class sizes exceeding 27 students, nobody knows you at the school and nobody knows your child - this is a machine focused on getting a great test score out of your child so that the school can attract more students. I’m surprised the school has not been audited by the city or any educational authority- it’s a safety disaster waiting to happen with so many kids (over 600!!) packed at the school that was not designed to be a school. Our primary motivation was to send my child to a “small” school where he could get lots of attention and guidance - it’s impossible at Harmony. The teacher can’t even reach the child because the desks are so crammed in the classroom. Kids with talent and kids who struggle suffer the most in this environment.

We left the school this year after realizing that my kids can get a great test score at a public school without studying in an overcrowded unsafe dungeon with the administration who could really careless about him. I especially feel bad for the teachers! They are not supported and are overwhelmed. My advice is for parents to research Harmony before you get excited to sign up. Understand how the charter school works, learn what motivates them, learn their business model because they really operate as a business. We are very disappointed but glad that we got out safe and my child is now thriving in a neighborhood school.

I would not recommend this school.

The teachers and staff are loving and supportive but do not receive the support they need and deserve from the people who were put in charge. The environment is unsafe and the administration is not transparent, nor interested in working with teachers, parents or even the PTO. Issues are either blamed on others or swept under the rug.

The pre-k, kindergarten and first grade classrooms do not have windows. The AC in these rooms goes out intermittently when it warms up. Parents are not notified of safety issues such as the AC going out or the school nurse being out on extended leave with no replacement. The playground is overly crowded and understaffed.

Last year, our child had 28 children packed into her classroom. A petition with hundreds of signatures went out asking for smaller ratios and dedicated teachers assistants, but the decision was been made to instead go the opposite direction and almost double the enrollment at the school this year. Infrastructure does not support this, and the car line reflects this clearly as well.

Our child received high scores when assessed by state tests at this school and she had incredible teachers last year, but with the changes made we could not continue to send her to Harmony as the school has become dangerous for her physical and mental health. I could not leave her, packed like a sardine in a classroom with no windows and a faulty AC.

Charter schools are not held to the same standards as regular public schools. They also receive less per student than the typical public school does. In this case that has resulted in the school turning into a business run for profit rather than a safe learning environment for our children.

If your kids are enrolled in Harmony, please get involved and ask questions. If you are considering Harmony, insist on touring the grounds while classes are in session before you make your decision. You are your child's biggest advocate.

We are very happy with our decision to switch to LISD.

Today we made a hard decision to withdraw my 1st grader. He was at the school for a full year ('21-22). This review is NOT a reflection on the teachers. Our teachers have been wonderful, dedicated and growing our kids despite the administration.

1. The school is located in an industrial zone that is not designed to accommodate 700+ students. It is also right next to a cement plant with industrial traffic going in and out of the same entrance. Lots of cement dust in the air close to the playground. Health concerns. Traffic is heavy and unsafe.
2. This year the school administration prioritized drastically increasing enrollment. They added several new classes and increased the average total number of students per class to 29 (as compared to the Texas requirement of 22). Last year there were 26-27 students in his class. This year my 1st grader was in the third row of tightly positioned tables and was unable to get out to use the bathroom because he was blocked by tables and chairs and students. What is the point of a charter school education in a sardine can?
3. Overcrowding the school created massive drop off and pickup issues that we didn't have last year. I can't emphasize enough how horrendous it has been. Even with the clubs starting, the entire pick-up experience takes 90 minutes. Kids wait for an hour in a packed area. The drop-off isn't better - two days in a row I spent 25 minutes in line and still got to the school late when they closed the area. Massive unsafe traffic patterns. I witnessed a parent car T-Boned with 3 children inside last year on Anderson mill.
4. School Administration lacks communication skills or willingness. It's a fortress you can't penetrate. Parental and PTO concerns (I was on the PTO board for a year) get brushed off. We are treated as a commodity. If we are not happy, we can leave because we can be replaced with anyone on the waitlist. The new principal seems to be uninterested in a meaningful parent and PTO involvement.
5. Unsafe recess area. Last year a child was bitten by a venomous snake on the playground. Constant complaints from the parents about the lack of supervision. The admins didn't do anything to cut down the brush or improve the area. It's unkempt and unsafe.
6. Safety and health issues - Overcrowding the school means that children can't get out of their classrooms in case of an emergency. There is currently no nurse on staff. Children with allergies or medical conditions/emergencies are at risk.

I can’t say enough about Harmony! We found this school on a whim as we were trying to find a school that supported science in the height of COVID. We initially came because the majority of students were wearing masks vs. our old school where nobody did. It was truly meant to be. The teachers and staff are amazing. They care so much for the children and take character very seriously. My kids are learning so many amazing things in comparison to their old school and there is always opportunities for tutoring, etc. If they need help. I love the diversity that is reflected as well. So much to love here!

This is a school where the administration, the teachers, all staff, kids, and parents demonstrate a caring and kind attitude toward each other.
