Horrible "school" - Teachers rely way too heavily on YouTube videos, children are taught about spirituality and yoga without parental consent or knowledge whatsoever, pickup takes way too long no matter how early you show up, teachers lack patience, would not recommend, but am relieved they are shutting down permanently.

This school went drastically downhill in the 24/25 school year. Its far from montesorri like they advertise. The only montesorri they do is in prek and kinder. After that your child now has endless amounts of workbooks and testing, limited amount of movement. And forget about going outside or recess if its bad weather, a little cold (like 65 or under), over 80. Because there is no indoor gym. On top of that nothing is screened. My child learned about several adult topics from YouTube videos her teacher put on. Every other week they watched Disney movies. Its a glorified daycare. And thats being kind. A daycare would be more growth. There hasn't been an orchard in almost 2yrs. They advertise it for new families. But thats just to get people excited. If people are thinking of this school please dont. Its all sugar coated and none of it is true. Several families are moving on to new schools now. We wish we never had to move. Unfortunately its a choice we had to make.

We've had a wonderful experience in Goodwater. I don't really get how these ratings are given, but I can tell that we used to go to a much better rated school in Georgetown where we had terribe experience ( I even had to pull my kid out of school in the middle of the year). My child completely opened up in Goodwater, he was able make friends from the very beginning. Teachers truly love kids here and don't put them under unnecessary pressure. Communication is excellent, we get weekly updates on the upcoming events and about what they learn in school, we even get some stuff to practice at home. My child loves to go to school for the first time ever!!! That's all that matters to me. The size of the classes are not big, absolutely managable. There are always two adults with the kids (teacher and assistant teacher) and sometimes kids even get extra help when needed. From what I have seen so far, IED students are also loved and Ms. Berverly, teachers and staff absolutely know how to manage them. Well, as to the STAAR exam, that's not easy, so I'd say somebody not performing very well at the Staar exam does not automatically mean he/she is not good at the subject. Kids learn to learn in this school and they also learn how to cooperate with each other, they learn respect, kindness, humility, companionship, etc. I strongly reccomend this school.

This school was terrible. Just terrible. My son is autistic so I thought this would be a good fit. He was bullied and the CEO fought about the definition of bully. He came home sad because some kid kept making fun of him. The school has no special education program even though they say they do. There was no services or therapy. They learn nothing. Its basically a daycare and a bad one at that. They constantly complaining about lack of money. Your child is a dollar sign and if they are sick and don't come, the school doesn't get their funding. You can't go on vacation because they lose their funding. Just awful. I don't wish bad on anyone, but that school is terrible.

Our largest complaint is that the school has consistently resisted sharing information about what our child is learning in the classroom. I have asked repeatedly for specific, weekly updates on my child’s lessons and never received these updates consistently. I cannot monitor my child's academic progress or help him at home without knowing what he is learning in the classroom. My child tells me that he is not regularly receiving new lessons. Without further information from the school, I have to believe that this is true. After his mid-year MAP scores declined, I began home-schooling him in the afternoons, because the classroom instruction is inadequate.

Our family chose Goodwater because I was assured that the Montessori model would meet each child's academic needs. This was preferable to our family because we wanted to see our child continue to progress apace with his ability. Instead, the children who are quiet, self-directed, and ahead of grade level are neglected and left to coast.

It seems to me now to be a systemic and endemic issue at the school in which parents are deliberately kept as ignorant as possible as to what their children are (not) being taught, to disguise how far standards have fallen within the classroom. After the most recent parent-teacher conference when I directly asked, again, for more specific and regular information on what my child was learning, I was told that was not the Montessori model. There is nothing in a Montessorian educational model that precludes sharing regular information with parents. At a basic level, if a school cannot regularly and provably show parents that their children are learning and progressing, then that school is failing its students.

We were a part of the founding families of the school. The original staff was passionate about Montessori education and the community. The school took a turn away from the true values of Montessori when the administration changed and Dr. Bruce became the principal.

He is not a Montessorian and wasn't able to keep true the Montessori values. He didn't care about the families and communities. Unfortunately he blindly follows the lead of the inexperienced board and keeps collecting a hefty paycheck. Meanwhile the school lacks academic structure, support for special needs, security & safety of the students, behavioral support for classrooms, and has absolutely no alignment between the staff and administration.
Too many amazing staff members left. Administration has had churn. And the leadership Team is so far removed from the principals of Montessori that it is disappointing to call it a Montessori school.

We had many friends who worked/volunteered at the school, myself included who were not respected and their opinions to better the school were continuously dismissed.

The Board is a whole other topic. But they lack inclusivity and diversity. This shows in the decisions they make and lack of collaboration with families.

I would no longer recommend this school, especially as a Montessori school.

I had my children at Goodwater for three years and pulled them after a cascading series of poor academics, staff loss, and administration incompetence. The school has an ineffective leadership that has lost a majority of the experienced and effective teachers. Discipline issues are rampant, and I felt my children's safety was at risk. Academics are dismal, and it is a top down leadership problem that never worked with parents or attempted to solve any issues. We left to find a school where teachers and administration work together. These problems were well entrenched before Covid and escalated.

This is my son’s second year there and I love everything about it. So thankful for Goodwater Montessori!
