The upper school is led by a horrible headmaster Trinette Keffer, is a poor example of a leader. If she treats her staff like those students that may have struggles, then this is why there is a high turnover rate in staff. I would be cautious of the school being in compliance with the special ed and 504 program. it may be worth having an advocate at the meetings. Staff may hold a bachelor's degree, but it is possible it is not in the area that they teach.

I like that this school is like military and old teaching but I dont like that they expect so much for a kindergarten. So much projects and homework. They dont accept pop culture which for a kindergarten kid dont understand why but thats their policy. They only celebrate grandparents day. Carline is horrible. I dont like that students get off at 1:30pm every Friday because we have to get off early from work and then loose half day. Overall is a safe school and welcome community.

My grandson loves this school. He is wanting to go and that speaks volumes. He is 5. He is a disaster with organization but his teachers are kind and helpful. I've found the school to be a great place for him. He attends a reading kindergarten. Im a retired reading teacher. Its awesome. Structre/culture are different. This is not public school. The environment is completely controlled and no pop culture.Its rigid but you are building a young mind. :)

Do Not enroll you child/children in this school. The Lower school has a HUGE PROBLEM WITH BULLYING!!!! AND Erica Rodriguez, Kyla Absher DO NOTHING TO STOP IT!!!!!!!!

Our daughter started Kindergarten this school year (23-24) and Im pleased with our choice.
All of our interactions with the teachers and staff have been positive.
There are no outside distractions such as culture or celebrations which is something we were actively seeking.
The homework is rigorous but Ive noticed positive outcomes in her reading and writing skills.
The school itself is also very secure which provides peace of mind.
Overall Im pleased with everything thus far and have enrolled our son for the upcoming year.

It takes a hour to pick up my kids from school. The carline is horrible and the staff is so rude! The school also sent notice out about parent/teacher conferences coming up and state that the students are not allowed to come. They request that you find someone to watch them. This is not a possibility for us, so we are unable to meet teachers. My kids are over loaded with homework DAILY and have no time to relax and actually be a kid when the get home from school. We are looking for a new school ASAP.

My daughter has been studied at this school for 5 years ago. She love it and we too. They are discipline and create her responsible with the homework, teachers are respectful and kind, in my experience the school encourage to families to participate in their activities and children's learning. The best part for me is the method Singapore Math due this method help her a lot to understand logic which is very important for her envelopment in number sense and flexibility in thinking about numbers.

Teachers do not help students who need help understanding the work . Bullying not addressed. Teachers also bully students. Administration has no empathy for students having mental health problems or any issues needing empathy. Military style school.

My kids were very excited to be there because this was their first year not being homeschooled. I was super excited for them too. Yet we finished out the year with no desire whatsoever to continue with this school.

My child who was overweight due to asthma and other medical issues was constant getting bullied, but the teachers and administration did almost nothing about it despite knowing and acknowledging the truth.

He and the eldest got almost no help from their 8th/9th Algebra teachers. The History teachers kept leaving or getting fired. They didn't have math textbooks.

I've learned that if the school doesn't allow comments on their Google Maps site, except one that is really good, they are not just weeding out people who aren't used to their way of academics. It really is simply because they do not want to deal with criticism. Other schools like Brooks/Somerset got bad reviews, but they at least have the decency to leave them on there and not block future posts.

Then to top all this off, it got a 2 out of 10 score here. Wow. Not surprising, considering the teachers of the math classes were so little help.

Some of the teachers were very good, and they were a blessing: Mr. McKee and Coach Hughes.

Great Hearts Western Hills is a terrible school for my child. Teachers are mean and will target and insult you and purposely get you in trouble if you are disliked by them.

Our son has started 1st grade here the first year this campus opened for the NW side of the city near Sea World Park and is now in 5th grade. The school has an excellent curriculum offering Singapore Math, Spalding method for spelling, English Literature, Science, Arts, Music, Social Studies, Latin, Spanish and focus on Western Classical studies. We are very impressed with the teachers, discipline, more sports being offered as the campus have added 2 more buildings as middle school expanded for older kids. My son reads at least 6 Classics to Keep books for each year on the school list such as Sherlock Holmes, The Narnia Chronicles, Pinocchio, The Phantom Toll Booth and many more. There is a Winter Concert for all grade levels and families enjoy the recitals. Kids also wear uniforms and pop culture is not allowed for school supplies to direct focus on academics and less distractions. Many parents volunteer and school emails weekly school events, blogs for each classroom, and there are official facebook group for parents from each grade. It is a welcoming community and really happy to have this school as an option for parents looking for a great alternative to public school. My son goes to Athenaeum after school hours for a monthly fee where they also do school work and weekly themed activities. It is great for working parents who need this option.

This is our third year at GHWH and I can't adequately express the gratitude I have for the staff and leaders of this school. Education is extremely important to our family, which is why we took them out of public school after witnessing, during the pandemic, what was being "taught". GHWH has a solid, challenging curriculum but is taught in a way the children pick up on. Our family is especially deeply grateful to GHWH because our then foster daughters were bounced from school to school before coming to us. At GHWH, they finally found a place they loved and felt welcomed. My seventh grader has blossomed and is active in the school sports! Her confidence has soared and she truly loves to go to school everyday. My two youngest feel the same. My husband and I LOVE that the focus is on education, character-building and encouraging leadership skills in the scholars, literally. All of them are in clubs and in class the 3rd and 4th grader are learning typing. Cursive starts at the end of 2nd and I'm just glad I wasn't going to have to tech them that valuable skill at home! They introduce their house system in 4th and 5th grade and go all out 6th-High School! I can go on and on about this school, the teachers and administration. There is not one thing I can complain about!

The first week my kids came here, I asked them what was one thing that was different and they said, "teachers don't yell". That spoke volumes. The teachers genuinely care about students and who they grow up to be as human beings. There are also so many different kinds of support students can receive from Special Education, ESL and Intervention. Because there are always 2 teachers in each classroom (specifically at lower school), students are always receiving the extra support they need. Oh and they do not push STAAR like most school districts.

Community...this school is full of a wonderful group of families and teachers who make it so special. We recently had our 1st quarter teacher conferences and we left the meetings feeling so proud to be a part of this amazing community! I love that our teachers truly know our students, its not just about grades. Our teachers are kind and compassionate. I appreciate the structure because my children know what to expect everyday. If you are looking for a place with a great community of families, where parents and students alike can foster lifelong friendships, Western Hills is the place!

The school curriculum is actually really good. I love the kids wear school uniforms. However, since the new headmaster took over in 2021 the school has undergone a radical change in environment. I feel the school is far more interested in discipline than in teaching. This was not always the case. When we first attended the school was really fun and I feel the overall teaching and admin was better. Last year, there seemed to be a huge turnover in teachers. This in my opinion has resulted in less quality.

I really like Great Hearts, but his particular school is not one of the better ones.
