Not a hospital place for a child who has light brown or blond hair.
Few schools have so little diversity as this school does. Ask yourself why before enrolling your kid.
Lots of racial hazing at this school. Admin know and do nothing.
Cheating is out of control and conveniently overlooked. This dilutes the significance of honor roll and academic rigor at this school.

If your child doesn't mind being frequently ostracized for being a different race or religion and you have no issue with your kid cheating and/or being surrounded by academic dishonesty, this school might be worth trying.

Very, very weird school culture.

The school focuses heavily on being academically advanced, but I feel the basics are not always taught in enough depth. The pace is fast, with frequent exams, lots of homework, and strong academic pressure, which can feel too much for young children.

Students are also sometimes given homework on topics that have not been fully explained in class. I feel children should first understand the lesson at school before being given homework, as teachers are there to teach them. It often feels like new topics are only briefly introduced in class and then sent home as homework for parents to explain. This can be very stressful for both children and parents. Because of the amount of homework, children often have no time for play or other activities after spending long hours at school.

The school year is also longer than nearby districts, and there are regular requests for extra funds for activities such as field trips and donations.

My child does not like going to school and often wants to change schools. While the school says it supports emotional well-being, in practice it does not always feel that way. My child has experienced teachers raising their voice for small mistakes, which has made them feel uncomfortable and less confident speaking up in class.

Overall, I am concerned that the high academic pressure and fast pace may be affecting my childs confidence and happiness.

The school promotes a strong emphasis on being more advanced than other schools, but it often feels like the basics are being overlooked. While the students are exposed to advanced topics, many subjects are not taught with enough depth to build a strong foundation. The environment has also become overly competitive and stressful, with too many exams scheduled too close together and constant pressure around advanced academic programs.

Another concern is that the staff is not always supportive when parents or students raise concerns or ask for help. Communication and responsiveness could be improved. It is also unclear why the school year is extended by about 10 days when all schools in nearby districts end before the Memorial Day. Overall, the focus seems to be more on appearing academically advanced than on maintaining a balanced and supportive learning environment for students.

This is by far one of the worse schools ever, the overall educational experience is incredibly lackluster and the teachers and staff are terrible. The principal, especially, is incredibly harsh and has suspended students for absolutely no reason or very unexplainable reasons.

Its true that this school is predominantly Indian, with most of the students coming from Indian backgrounds. Theres very little diversity, which can limit broader cultural learning experiences. We hope the school administration will recognize that diversity enriches education and take steps to create a more inclusive environment.

The school is focused on STAAR/SAT testing and not critical thinking nor equipping students to self learn. Most of the classes focus on rote memorization and little on the why behind the material. Extracurricular activities are wildly expensive and there is a constant drumbeat of fund raising. When we first toured the school the student host my son was partnered with told him that the school sucks and he shouldn't go there. When I brought this to the attention of the principle she dismissed it. There is also a huge diversity problem. We are currently in private school and much happier with the results even though it is more out of pocket money.

Pros:
- Less kid drama than most schools.
- A couple teachers are really stellar, some are good.
- True opportunity to take more advanced courses and readily accelerate an already aggressive course map.

Cons:
- Lack of diversity
- Numerous kids act up for teachers who are not of their same ethnicity. This is consistently an issue and it seems like these teachers are genuinely targeted. Those targeted are often the teachers who actually can communicate with clarity in English.
- Many of the teachers are hard to understand (foreign accents) and cannot speak English correctly. A few of them are getting around this deficiency a bit with the use of AI for written messaging, but this certainly does not compensate. Isn't it a TEA requirement for the teachers to meet certain English proficiency standards?? Pretty sure quite a few of these teachers would fail. Some of them do not know how to articulate the difference between a quiz, a test, or an in-class survey.
- Favortism: some teachers make it clearly known who their favorites are. This is painful for a kid who wants to be liked a lot by their teachers. Some teachers give extra help and info that is not shared with other students (and this is not in the form of tutoring during "Student Hours")
- Some teachers talk to each other or kids in non-English languages. This does not at all create an inclusive environment.
- Some teachers share the kids' grades on a big screen where all the kids in class can see how each student is doing. Given how challenging the material can be, this is unacceptable and unprofessional.
- Most clubs and athletics are INSANELY overpriced at this school. Does this exclude a lot of kids??? YES. Does the school care?? NO!!!! Why does this happen? Almost everything at this school is treated as a revenue source. Want to play volleyball in the fall? The cost to have your child practice for 1 hour 2x /week, play in a very low-level league, and has only a 6-week season is approx $600 per child per season. One of the excuses is the school thinks it is offering a club/select-type of experience. They most certainly don't. If you value your money and your kid's experience, you will need to find way to engage outside of school.
- Be ready for EVERY SINGLE FIELD TRIP to come with a price tag of at least $50. This is not the cost of participation; again, everything at this school is made to be a revenue source. Join the booster club? Pay at least $70/year

Basis is a good school with a strong focus on academics. The curriculum is well-structured and challenging, and were especially happy with the variety and quality of AP courses offered. It provides a solid foundation for college readiness.

My second grader is doing 3rd grade math. Hes excited about school every day, especially Mrs. Sams music classes. Weve had a great experience interacting with our teachers. Watching my son excel in all topics is the true measure of a good education. We are excited and lucky to be at BASIS Cedar Park.

Diversity Concerns
The school has a strong cultural presence (students and staff members). Students sometimes have difficulty understanding the teachers' accents.

Teaching Approach
The teachers are seems focused more on memorization and test preparation rather than on fostering a deep understanding of the material. At times, I have found it necessary to supplement lessons with additional explanations to ensure my children fully grasp the concepts, as some teachers appear to rush through topics without providing adequate clarity.

School Organization
There seems to be room for improvement in the schools organizational structure. For example, dismissal procedures can be disorganized, and there is a lack of flexibility when it comes to certain rules and policies, which can cause confusion and frustration for both students and parents.

Staff Conduct
In my experience, the staff members, including some teachers, have sometimes been less than approachable. There are occasions when staff have raised their voices at students, which may not foster a supportive learning environment. Additionally, dismissal times can be stressful, with parents occasionally feeling reprimanded.

Requests for Donations
The school regularly requests donations, which may feel overwhelming to some families. While supporting the school community is important, the frequency of these requests can be off-putting.

After-School Programs
The after-school clubs offered by the school are costly and often poorly organized. There have been multiple instances where programs have been canceled at short notice, which can be frustrating for families who rely on these activities.

Overall Opinion
While the concept of Basis School holds promise, there are several areas where improvements could be made in order to enhance the overall experience for students and their families. I hope that the administration takes into consideration the feedback from parents and makes adjustments where necessary to improve the schools operations and environment.

This school is an absolute disgrace! I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The teachers here scream at children for no reasonit's completely unacceptable! The campus is filthy, with trash strewn everywhere, and to top it off, my child comes home miserable and depressed every single day. I urge you to take your kids back to their old school, enroll them in an online program, or literally anywhere else. And if your child is young and attending school for the first time, do not send them here. This school is a terrible influence on impressionable little minds, and I cannot believe it is even allowed to operate. Save your children before it's too late!

The school is absolutely terrible and runs like a corporate machine. It only goal is to make profit and push 35 plus kids in a small class. New management is horrendous and care less for safety or overall wellbeing of the student. Teachers have no patience and don't teach. Overall not a recommended place for growing minds.

This school is very toxic to the growth of growing minds. The school is filled with uncertified staff , bunch of monkeys running the school and have no idea of managing the children or school or drop off or dismissal. I wonder on what basis BASIS got the license to hire such staff.
Example situation - during dismissal I met a teacher named Sam who happen to be music teacher who was extremely rude to me and blackmailed me that she would call head of office if I didnt move my car further couple of inches close to the car in front of me that would leave very little space between the 2 cars. I wondered if thats how the teachers talk to the parents what respect or treatment the kids inside the school are getting?
If you are thinking to enroll your kid in BASIS Cedar park please do not .

While BASIS Cedar Park promotes itself as an elite educational institution, its business model and educational approach raise serious concerns. The school seems more focused on generating revenue than on fostering an inclusive and well-rounded learning environment. One example is their "VIP" parking system, where families can pay for premium parking spaces. This not only feels like a blatant cash grab but also promotes inequality and division among students, sending a troubling message about fairness and community values.

Beyond the financial aspect, the academic philosophy of BASIS Cedar Park also falls short. The curriculum seems to prioritize rote memorization of fundamentals rather than practical, hands-on learning. Many students are left struggling with the application of concepts, especially in subjects like math, where the focus is primarily on memorizing formulas and processes. As a result, parents often find themselves having to enroll their children in supplemental learning centers like Kumon or Mathnasium to help them gain practical understanding and skills that the school fails to provide.

This heavy reliance on memorization not only limits students' ability to think critically but also undermines their preparedness for real-world challenges. Education should empower students with both theoretical knowledge and practical problem-solving abilities, but BASIS Cedar Parks approach seems to prioritize test scores over true learning and development.

If BASIS Cedar Park hopes to remain a top-tier institution, they should reconsider both their financial policies and their teaching methods, focusing more on equity and fostering well-rounded students.

I understand this is a newer school and we have new principals and many new teachers again this year. However they hire teachers with no teaching experience with kids or they do not have a real certification in teaching or in combination with never having taught in this country ever. The AP English teacher's 2nd language is English. My kids don't understand the math teacher because her accent is really strong and she can't talk loud enough in English. There are so many other staff and teaching issues I don't want to even get into in this review. The teachers and the school train the kids to take test after test after test. The rest is up to the kids to keep up when the teachers don't really teach the material well. The BASIS school system makes them take a BASIS standardized test for each main course twice a year and also the Texas standardized tests. So they learn how to do well on standardized tests and that's why they have high ratings. The school brags about how their students go on to great schools which we have to simply believe because there is no proof. Most of these kids are immigrants or children of immigrants. So they do have the immigrant work hard mentality and will succeed no matter the school. Best of luck to you and your family.

Zero emotional support for growing minds. Student are to advocate for themselves and the school admin strongly discourages parent involvement. The school is definitely run like a corporation and only care about fundraising and money. Clubs are ridiculously priced for what you get. For the upper levels (6-11th grade), is known to be the weed out grades. Kids who require extra help or need a little more guidance will not make it. Admin make a pseudo plan to help the child but nothing ever comes out of their plan for success Cafeteria food is gross and has zero nutritional value. The menu is geared towards the majority population which is Indian. The is not a library in the school and our sons grade never read a book the entire year, instead memorized unnecessary information. Overall, public schools are a lot more well rounded than this school. Basis claims to be 1 grade ahead of public schools, but that is questionable. I would give this school zero stars if that was an option.

There are many Basis schools. Basis Cedar Park is one of the worst Basis in our experience. The approach and attitude of some of the teachers are negative. The school management is not empathetic towards kids and parents. It's like running a professional organization which lacks the empathy and passion to nurture the kids. They are mostly interested in image management. The school operations is pathetic in most of the aspects. The pick up and drop management is bad. The lady scanning the passes does not support parents rushing to pick up the kids. It is one of the worst thing in the school. The curriculum is one level advance then public school. There few good teachers. This school is not a right fit to nurture the kids. Schools play a big role in inducting values and building characters for kids. Don't risk your kids' important life years with Basis Cedar Park. There are other better schools in the city.

we agree with the other reviewer that left a low score on this site. We really did not have a positive experience, constant teacher changes, lack of diversity, poor attitudes from teachers towards kids with 504's, the works.

I would not recommend this school.

This is my first year at this Basis Campus this school. I would say is for people who love to study, of coarse we have P.E, but P.E in public school is a big challenge. In basis you get about 1-4 homeworks per day and tests every week, clubs cost a bunch of money. Even though all of this may seem hard, I personally love to studey
