Don't be deterred by negative reviews. The Great Schools scores speak for themselves. I have had a child attend from middle school through high school. Cole has been nothing short of stellar. Is it perfect? No. Are all of the faculty members perfect? No. Is every child and parent of a child who attends perfect? No. Education is the priority. The quality of education provided is truly excellent. I have seen self motivated highly driven students come out of this school with acceptance letters from many colleges. There are many after school programs available. The band is amazing. The athletic programs motivate the kids to excel in the classroom and on the field/court. Any disciplinary questions to include bullying are handled quickly and professionally. I cannot say enough positive things about Cole. I have been able to get a hold of any faculty member same day by phone and scheduled many parent teacher conferences. If you could imagine an old school feel with the sense of community and connectedness combined with updated facilities and methods. I am not sure who would put anything but 5 star reviews for Cole. For those that have had a bad experience I hope their situation has been resolved. Truly a gem for the military community best school in Texas and maybe the nation. The fact that it is located on a military installation makes it safe for both students and faculty. I have traveled to many sports and after school programs that Cole participates in and have never experienced racism from rival schools or parents. If you have the opportunity for your child to attend jump at the chance.

There are many students who are not very nice. I don't know if bullying is an issue, but I could see how it would be. For having a large military population the school has many cliques. Many students have been there for years, because people tend to retire in this area.

I think there is too much emphasis placed on sports and not enough on academics. This even goes to who they hire (mostly coaches).

They rely too much on technology vs actual teaching, even before COVID. I've heard multiple students say "you have to teach yourself". There are a few really good teachers, but many seem to be there to coach sports vs teach subject matter. It really seems sports comes first. And there is definitely favoritism that goes on between those teacher/coaches and their athlete students.

It seems like many of the special ed teachers have been hired because they are coaches. Or, even worse, they were coaches who were encouraged to get their special ed license so they could be hired. There are a few that are purely special education, but overall I am not impressed especially in comparison to what I am used to seeing at other schools.

We have two children enrolled in the High School. The school has welcomed them in and they are starting to make great friends. The Teacher care; best thing you can say about a teacher.

The special needs population in this school is limited to one classroom and not integrated with any other classrooms or students.

Take your military child elsewhere. The attitude of the entire district is to put in minimal effort due to the size of the school and PCS rotation of the kids. Getting answers is like pulling teeth and the administrators are unable to answer assertively. There is a dismissive undertone in the regard toward African American children and you don't have to be African American to notice it! Clubs are few and far between and the Athletic program could be a lot better if they invested in actual coaches that specialize in the particular sport. Although the SAISD , NAISD, NEISD schools are larger with more student demographics; The effort is their to prepare your child for the next step.

Some of the teachers challenge the students with thought provoking homework while others give assignments, gathers them to lose them or don't grade them until the child questions a failing grade on a progress report.

Yes they do but the rest of the surrounding cities don't respect our kids. When attending away games, you must travel in pairs and be mindful that racism is real. Our kids have been disrespected over and over and the school board does nothing to protect them. Grown men have called some of the girls derogatory names while sitting in the bleachers. Parents from other schools try to fight our Parents for cheering our team on or advocating for our team. It is disgusting behavior and unsafe for our kids to travel to these rural towns.

The principal does not interact with the Parents. She sends emails that not everyone can receive and will not communicate as a leader of a school should.

The principal is literally the worst I have ever dealt with across multiple states and school districts. She has zero clue what military families endure and what their needs are. She is completely disconnected from both the community and her students. THe rest of the administrators are just as bad. And heaven forbid you ever question one of their decision or information they put out, you will be threatened with having your kids expelled "just because we can"

Kids here are absolutely rotten and the teachers do nothing to intervene. its eye opening just how badly behaved military kids are. Don't be fooled. Just because they aren't starting fights or bringing weapons to school doesnt mean these kids aren't some of the worst you will ever deal with in terms of how mean, spiteful and outright nasty they are to each other.

I would avoid this school at all costs. Its a shame this is associated with a military post. There are no redeeming qualitities. The class choices are minimal, they extracurriculars outside of sports are a complete joke, there are NO clubs or after school activities for kids and the lack of special ed services is scary. Go elsewhere, you will be glad you did.

My daughter has gone to Cole Middle for the past year and a half and so far her experience has been fantastic. The teachers actually care about the kids, the sports programs and coaches are excellent, the band teacher has really been awesome. We decided to live on base specifically so she could attend Cole and I think we made the right decision. I wouldn't listen to the one bad review here, it really is an excellent school.

This is an amazing school. The first time i moved to Robert G Cole High , i felt so welcomed. Everyone was so nice. This is a great school. It has been my favorite school out of ALL the schools i have attended to. The teachers at the school are great and understanding. The students could have not have been any nicer.

Cole is an amazing place for military dependents. I'm currently a freshman going into my sophomore year. I first started school here in elementary and moved through middle school and just made it to high school. Most of the teachers are nice and teach well but like any other school there's a few we despise. Our principal recently obtained her doctorate and we're working on expanding the school. Academic wise theres lots of opportunities. Our UIL programs have done extremely well with most of them making it to state.Majority of the programs took district and placed at regionals. We even took state in powerlifting this year. To be honest our fall sports (volleyball and football) along with baseball and softball aren't the best, but mainly its the coaches closed minded way of thinking. However , we have terrific athletes and school spirit.We have plenty of honor society's and clubs for almost anybody. This year we just added a photography class and everyone loves it. Since the school is small everyone knows everyone and most of us get along. Lunch is relatively fun since we're allowed to order food. Cole is a wonderful place.

I absolutely love this school. I am an 8th grade student that has been going here since 6th grade. I love the fact that it is only a 2A school, which means we have a close-knit student body. The teachers are very good at what they do, and how they teach. Our school recently started an athletics program for 7th and 8th graders. Our coaches are fantastic. The Middle School administration is very caring about the students. I love that this is a school for military children, so that everyone is going through the same toubles as everyone else in regards to deploying family members and moving every few years. The only thing I, personally, do not like is the library. The new Librarians have new rules which I don't like. We have to pay $.10 a day for overdue book, which is why I don't use the library. This year we have a brand new cafeteria which is gorgeous. I personally, being a student of this school for 3 years, would highly recommend this school to any Military child, and hope they have the best possible year in their new school.

I have heard nothing but bad things about this school. For one, the faculty, specifically the main office, is very disorganized. My daughter has had a rough year and needed some doctor's visits frequently. Considering the school only allows 9 days unexcused absences, we asked the office what we could do to turn those into excused absences so she wouldn't have to worry about losing credit. So, we called and said "Can we just bring in any note with my signature on it? That way it's excused?" The office replied with a yes and we were able to move one with my daughter's doctor appointments with ease. However, last week, she was sent to the attendance office and was told she must make up 16 HOURS worth of detention because she went over the limit. I couldn't believe this. Next, I'd also like to think that a tiny sparkle on my daughter's nose isn't more important than her classes. I want to point a finger at "Suzy" Hawkinson, who wouldn't let my daughter leave the office til her nose ring was out of her nose. Keep in mind, my daughter had a huge math test to get to. Her nose was infected at the time and was medically not able to remove it. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.

I really like the school. Kids have many extra curricular activities and sports opportunities and are very important Kids are able to take AP Classes. Teachers and administration are reachable and available. School is small. GREAT SCHOOL.

Phone calls to administration aren't returned -- it's been a week now. Admin and teachers are contemptuous and often condescending to parents and students. Emails to 8th grade teachers are sometimes ignored with no return reply. If a student is struggling, s(he) is regarded with suspicion (esp. if there's a 504). We're concerned and involved parents and the treatment we, and our daughter, receive is the worst that we've ever had in any district. She is regarded with hostility and contempt - is asked, after struggling with tests and homework, if she's manipulating the situation to obtain more help -- or she's asked, by one teacher, isn't my homework important enough? Stay away! No encouragement here. Our poor experience suggests why the state of education in TX is so dire.
