Frost Elementary School

My student has 6/20 students in her 5th grade class that her special needs. I feel that this distracts from the rest of the class's learning as the teacher and other students must wait to help the special students with more understanding and learning. The kids that need special education should in fact have a special education class that they can go to, they should not be mixed in with the other students, they are special for a reason, and not in a bad way.

Furthermore, the children no longer have grades in the classes. They have a "mastered" or "approaching" next to the different categories that they have gone over. I can't disagree with this more. Why is there no homework? Why do we have no grades on the assignments? Why is the learning curve so steep? I wish I could afford a private education for my child at this point. I feel like she is beyond held back by this school specifically. Maybe it's the entire GISD, maybe it's just Frost Elementary.

They've also stopped calling holidays by their name as of this year. Last year they had no problem saying Halloween or Thanksgiving, now it's all politically correct nonsense.

The staff at Frost has always been great. They are very active in your Childs learning experience. Always willing to help and always trying to get the parents and community involved.

The lack of knowledge the administration, staff, and teachers in dealing with special ed students is unreal. I've never seen a school this bad when it comes to rude teachers. The bullying issue is scary. If they don't address it soon they are going to create a real issue, think Uvalde.
I am a retired teacher, my mother, aunt, and graduation were teachers. My grandfather was a Superintendent of schools in OH. This school is disgraceful.

Because they don't care about teaching a majority of students that have problems learning in an environment of negative contributing factors! They are Adult Bullies!

A majority of students learn so much about hurting others and putting themselves in authority positions. There is very little to no respect because they are not lead properly and positively by the staff and other adults at the school! This equals out to no compassion or respect for themselves. They've become a product of a very negative environment.

If there was an option for a stronger way to rate "Strongly Disagree" that is what I would be using. The bullying is in overabundance! And the students that go in to this facility as being good natured are greatly effected by the lack of dealing with the hurtful and harmful things that they have to endure! As a parent of one of the good natured children, my child begs and pleads everyday and night to not go to back to the nightmare of a school! Very sad. Thank goodness she will be out of Frost this year!

Students cant respect each other when the teachers dont respect them and talk down to them with hateful tones. They dont monitor the recesses which is where most of the unsupervised incidents occur which tell me they are not responsible at all.

The leaders in this school are the staff and when the staff are rude to the point that students dont want to be there or talk to them, that is a huge problem and definitely doesn't scream "leadership"!

I remember always hearing that everyone learns differently growing up, and I do believe this but when I gave tips on how to help one of my sons because of the way a past teacher has treated him, they disregarded that and ignored what I had to say and continued to treat my son negatively and rudely. He has come home crying multiple times over the way not one, but 2 or 3 of his teachers have treated him. That tells me they dont care about learning differences.

We have been in this school not even a full year and I have already had 3 incidents with bullying at this school. My sons are very kind to all students and will befriend anyone, the staff has confirmed this multiple times but other students are allowed to be angry and act out with minimal consequences. My son came home crying because a student who bullied everyone punched him twice at recess, the teachers asked my son why he approached this student because he knew the student reacts in a angry manner. Instead of having the student learn that he cannot be angry and violent at school, they wanted my son to not approach him which isnt sending the right message to either kid involved.

The only homework my 4th grades boys have is 20 minutes of reading. I have always made them read 30 minutes a day so I do not feel like their minimal 20 minutes with no other homework is good enough.

The teachers at this school (4th grade anyways) are rude to the extent of making students cry and hate school, my sons have never come home and told me so many stories of how the teachers mistreat them. I have of course, witnessed this passive aggressive treatment and tone by the teachers more than once, sadly. They bully the kids with the way they talk down to them and then send parents vague messages making the kid out to be bad. All communication is through an app rather than call the parent when their kids are in violent situations or missing from class to name a few occasions.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 0. This school puts on a nice show for the outside world and the parents who dont care about what goes on in their child's day to day life in public school. I am not that parent and I do not condone the way they treat students or parents. I believe the staff treat the students even worse if you complain about things they dont do right. There is no explanation as to how it feels to wait 4 hours for the school to call to give you information about a "fight" when your son comes home crying from another student punching him for no reason. They had 2+hours before my son got home and they didnt call me until another 4 hours went by. That is unacceptable and I cant believe it keeps happening. They dont care about anything from what I can see except their public reputation.

Frost is an absolutely awesome PreK-5th grade campus adding The Leader in Me leadership program last year. My kids have thrived and so have I! A great community school!! Frost actually received a 5 STAR rating on their accountability!!

We love Frost! Academics, support from staff members, & the events are amazing. The school is all around organized! My child loves it and when she's happy, we are happy :)

My daughter simply adores frost. The teachers and staff are all very active in helping the students. Parents are not only welcomed, they're encouraged to get involved as well.
