If you look at how they communicate, how they encourage students, you find that they teach from the heart and than reach out to expand their minds, their knowledge. Most students are supported, but many face so many trials at home that it is so very hard for the teachers and staff...they try, but unless youve been in a school with limited State funding, you dont know how challenging it is. God help them all.

The most well behaved students, and the most courteous out in the world of work...thats what Harlandale produces.

The fact that it is 83% of populations is of low incom, almost 10% LEO-first time English language learners, yet, on average, they are only about 100 points behind on average SAT scores is admirable. Harlandale ISD, as many other lower income districts in San Antonio, are doing an admirable job, should be lauded. These studies you all put out give no explanation on how the State has cut our funds while upping funding for private school ventures; they have an admirable student to teacher ratio, the best most advanced vocational and technology IT programs, health careers, an Associates of Arts Early College High School, a grand bilingual dual language program and the most dedicated teachers in the world. Look at the struggles that challenged families of low income have and than compare scores and you will find that proportionate to the overall population HISD is doing a phenomenal job in spite of those political right wingers that keep taking money away from our schools.

In spite of State budget cuts.....we never left out our special ed kids like many districts throughout Texas did.

Counselors do their best, as do teachers and staff, to deal with the terror of bullying, while providing recommended services for those who bully.

The students are duly prepared for careers or higher education. We are grateful to the support of the community as we have one of the highest property tax rates in the State, because we believe in our kids and because the State, and some of the right wingers in the Legislature have ignored the growing needs of our public schools.......and in spite, we continue to score higher on achievement exams, higher graudation rates than those, on average, at charters.....not a good thing, becasue we believe all kids should do well in their preparation for college or work.

They do require homework and a lot of home based projects learning.

Harlandale is a mediocre school. It has way to much violence, provocative words, and gang violence. This school has got to be one of the top ten schools to be rated as worst in san antonio.
