Dr. Clark/Vale is a horrible leader who does not communicate properly with parents. There has been many instances where bullying, inappropriateness, or threats have been made and she handled every situation poorly. I emailed her a few times as a concerned parent and she would never answer my questions and instead just beat around the bush. Also parent involvement is practically non existent. We were not allowed to walk our children to class or be in the classroom for special days. I’ve never been to a school that limits each student to two adults attending performances. We got lucky with two out of three great teachers from our time there. Also when asked about the special education program, the staff knew nothing. My questions were answered poorly and it terrified me to enter my nonverbal child.

School has significantly declined after Dr. Vale/Clark became principal at this school. She lacks leadership skills and does not like to address disciplinary issues. This was once a great fine art program but that went down the drain… They are a few teachers who are awesome but some of these non certified teachers have also not helped the kids succeed academically.

Dr. Clark is ineffective leader who does not communicate with parents. Crockett has fallen from what it once was due to her inability to take action and lead staff. She does not address behavioral problems that have escalated and instead just points the fingers at the teachers

Currently have a son there in fifth grade, he has been there since kinder. I have been very happy with the school. My son has excelled in Violin, and Marimba. For that, I’m very grateful. Over the years he has been lucky to have great teachers as well. We are super grateful to Crockett for the fine arts program and overall great experience.

My child has had some difficulties and each teacher was attuned to it, openly communicated with me and we worked together to make sure my child stayed on track!

Posted: February 9, 2018

The two teachers my child has had both have a strong positive character and were a wonderful example of this to my child.

There is a new administration this year and they are energetic, involved and passionate about improving communication with parents and students. I always feel welcome to communicate with them and they offer many opportunities to inform the parents of the goings on at the school.

Posted: February 9, 2018

I cannot comment on this due to lack of experience.

My child has had difficulty with being too rough and the school was ON IT! They let us know immediately and let us in on the situation. I was glad to be informed and part of the intervention! This is my only experience with bullying so far. They do of course have anti-bullying signs throughout the school.

WE LOVE IT!!!! We love the diversity, we love all the arts programs, the teachers, admin, staff, parents and students!!!! You would not believe the string/orchestral program they have for kids pre-K-5!!!!!

Posted: February 9, 2018

I have a student in 1st grade and both teachers have provided homework, but are always flexible about it. I think this is a very reasonable and practical approach!

I am current parent here of a 2nd grader and I must say she has Awesome teachers, Ms Munfus is an all around dedicated and passionate educator . As far as Administration... completely unorganized and rude. There has been major issues in safety as different people were allowed to pick my daughter up without being asked for identification. This violates soo many rules and laws . There is no diversity in this school and caters solely to the main demographics. Let's just say I have not seen the principal since the first day of school. Mishandling of paperwork and medical attention has also been an issue. I will say their efforts in putting on programs are good and they do foster the ARTs ! I believe the school has potential to be really good , but Administration from top to bottom needs major adjustment , adaptation of diversity ,and to add theatre to the Arts program. Unfortunately , due to the experience and my daughter being displeased we may be considering another school.

Posted: April 26, 2017

I can't speak for the school but I can say yes for her current teacher

We have only experienced this year but Ms Munfus is truly an amazing teacher.. she has done really well in challenging my daughter

I love my students teacher Ms.. Karthajoemena.. She has brought my son out of being shy around other kids. She's an awesome teacher and teaches with fun so the kindergarten kids learn. The front office personal is extremely friendly and helpful too.

My child has been going to this school and at the beginning the teachers there helped my child out tremendously!! and then I started to notice that all the great teachers left after the first year none of the good teachers stay past a year for the exception of 1. Then as my child went on to third grade the reading teacher was horrible and all she cared about was how fast my child could read and nothing about comprehending the material my child just read! The school only cares about how fast the students can read and scoring high on what ever STARR OR TASK or any other test they have to take! My kid came home one day and told me there friend didn't get to eat lunch because there friend could not memorize her lunch card number so my child shared there lunch with there friend. I called the school and informed them of the situation and now all the kids have lunch cards and no longer have to memorize a number, but how long had that policy been going on since the first day of school and not until a parent complained they changed it!!! and then every day at the end of school they sell junk food to the children and yet are trying to promote "healthy food" to the kids at the same time. If you ever have an issue with a teacher the principal will only take the teachers side and shift all the blame on to your child. If I were you I would keep looking for a better school! Looks, are deceiving at that school!!

My daughter has THRIVED at this school. She is starting her 4th year with them and has learned so much. The principal seems removed from her students and names the staffs' moral less than uplifted, but despite the rude principal, the teachers bond really well with the kids and make school a great, safe place to learn. Thanks teachers!!!

Crockett is a wonderful school but we need to get rid of Common Core. Just good old fashion math is best.

My granddaughter attends this school. I'm so impressed with her academics and the fine arts she takes at school. She is becoming a great artist and knows so much science. She is only in first grade, but by her vocabulary she sounds like a fourth grader. I'm impressed with this school. This is the best kept secret in this part of town. Thanks Crockett, keep the good work, our children deserve it! Ps. Summer enrichment camps are priceless, they are doing hands on science for engineering, experiments, math for the real world and of course fine arts! The best, I tell you!

My daughter is an outgoing 5th grader and she is terribly sad to leave Crockett. She spent 3 years here and we both love love love the school! I am so proud of the young lady she became and I owe so much to her caring teachers! I cannot wait for my son to begin Pre K coming this fall!

I would like to comment about Crockett Elementary! I think this is a great school! My daughter just loves this school and she loves the teachers, too! She is involved in so many of the arts and thrives in all of them. Her academics are also excellent! I would highly recommend this school! It is proven research that your child that is involved in the arts will also be successful in academics! A great school right in the heart of Houston! You can't ask for a better location! I read the negative comments that have been written and am saddened to hear about their bad experiences. I guarantee those are isolated cases.

This school is terrible, I would not recommend this campus to anyone! They are very unorganized, what I mean by this: the staff and teacher do not EVER know what is going on. You also have the librarian taking care of matters that the principle or assistant principle should be. This school was highly recommended to me, I was very disappointed.

This school is terrible. Mainly administration outside of the front office, Ms. Taylor, and Ms. Alvarado. No discipline from the principal, and I can tell by the morale that the staff are poorly treated. No counselor, no consistent help from a special education specialist outside of a Gen. Spec. Ed. teacher, and the classes are crowed. Some classes have like 28 students. How can the teacher be effective. The bigger classes have all kinds of student problems. Poor teachers, they can't teach the students because of all the student behavior. Never mind about phone calls be returned by administration.

I am totally disappointed and upset with this school has improved in the field of infrastructure, materials for music, chorus, etc. .. But I want to mention that they do what they want in that school. They sell things without telling the children during the classroom as chips, candy, school supplies, as lapicez to 1 dollar each, nearly $ 3 sharpeners, erasers a3 or 2 dollars every one ... And I'm not making this up,, actually doing this happens .... Also sell used items for children, not knowing .. parents and children spend their tips your parents give in things used .. I'm not agree with that, parents and find out what happens inside ... It's totally a scandal, and talk to the teacher of my son because my son will not go to school and I have no other choice in school change because that is near me ... But the teacher yell all the time until try to stupid children ... I mention this because my son I mention it because there is not any respect and attention to children ... please! where I can complain about all this ..? is something you have to stop, since e talked to the director, and nothing changes ...
