Timberwood Middle School has great academics and most of the teachers are amazing. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that sometimes situations are not handled in the right way and some kids make dumb decisions like how one kid airdropped an inappropriate picture to the principal and we couldn’t have phones for the rest of the year during class.

The school has no lessons except in the History class where they take notes explained by the teacher. In the rest of the classes the students are given worksheets with no explanation of how to do it or the topic. In the science class the teacher doesn't even go over notes, they just tell the students to search the questions up. I don't see how students are going to learn anything this way.

Teacher/student ratio is more than 30 students per teacher. School is overcrowded and no plans for the years.

My daughter was extremely nervous about moving from a very small school in Illinois to a school with add many kids in her class as there were in the entire K thru 6th grade. The teachers were very helpful keeping us in the loop of everything that was going on. She got to move to a band level that she fit into and has had more opportunities than I could have imagined.

chaos is the word I would use to describe this school. Many of the teachers are amazing, but the subs are completely incompetent I had one that skipped over a lesson because she didn't know how to do it. there are frequent fights and the teachers have little to know control. the lunch procedures are ridiculous and many times I find that we don't have time to eat because they are so set on every student being quiet before we are released (which never happens) I believe that they are putting so much money into the avid program they are letting the rest of the school crumble. Let's not forget how the ENTIRE School changed when the avid review team came. They had us doing these stupid procedures I had never even heard of. If your child doesn't have thick skin, don't send them here. Timberwood will chew them up and spit them out.

I found TMS an okay school. I didn't like how kids slipped through the cracks (and don't get in trouble), the dress code is too strict and some of the dress code is down right ridiculous! Another thing, lunch, hallways, and classrooms are crowded. Some of the rules are very stupid, like for the fact that we can't have any backpacks! We don't even have a locker! The school will take up any other bag if it's not a drawstring. Which I didn't like. One last thing is morning procedures, and our lunch dismal procedure need to be changed, and that most teachers don't have a very good control over their students
