The principal runs this campus like a prison!

The kids are only allowed to walk in one direction in the hallway, even if their next class is right across the hall, they have to walk an entire circle which causes them to be tardy quite often especially if they have to use the bathroom. There are restroom guards during lunch period and if too many kids are in the bathroom they are not allowed to go, which means now they have to go back to class and hope for their teachers Grace to allow him to use the restroom without marking them tardy. A basic human need is being denied. Lockers are working and existing but the kids aren’t allowed to use them ever since Covid happened, now their backpacks are stuffed to the rim with books and folders and weighing amounts that no kid should carry around all day. Kids are also not allowed to sit with their friends during lunch, seats are assigned. So the only time they are allowed to talk and socialize in their school day is now also being taken away.
I don’t see how learning is encouraged in the school, or how learning and fun is being combined. White Oaks priority is not the kids, the priority is how to run an entire school with as little work and effort as possible. The convenience of the principal is the law.
The said principal has a reputation of such behavior since she ran an elementary school the same exact way. The uproar of the parents finally became so big, the district moved her to white oak where her obsessive behavior continues. New Caney ISD continues to look away.

we not recommend they take the kids phones and charge the parents $15 to get them back. It is your own property, so it’s basically extortion! they treat the kids like they are adults in prison would Not recommend!

After going to White Oak Middle for three years I can say this: It's not as bad as people make it to be. First I'll start with my experience, I moved right after fifth grade to this school, knowing nobody. And, well, I soon made lots of friends, and grew close to many teachers. (And I'm a relatively shy person).
Most teachers really do care about you, and what your doing. Almost all of the teachers at White Oak are qualified, and friendly. Trust me, don't worry about getting bad teachers. The curricular is well made.
The Staff: The school just recently they updated their staff members, which was very much needed, and they are very strict on behavior, and acting right. When I say strict, I mean that they make you do as they say, but if you're in the guidelines, you don't have to worry. The staff greets everyone at the door each day with a smile, and each staff member is kind to the students, and actually friends with many students.
The Cleanliness: You may not understand, but it is VERY hard to keep a middle school clean. There are a bunch of disrespectful people out there. But recently they have put much more effort into the cleanliness.
The Extra-Curricular Activities: I am a VERY artsy person, and I couldn't go to a school without any arts departments, but this school has a slew of amazing arts. The two Art teachers have many supplies, not many schools have (modeling clay, kiln, etc.), and they grade, not on talent, but on hard work. Also both are very funny, and good at what they do. The Current Theater Director is Amazingly Wonderful, and she works VERY hard on each play she produces, and is a very fun person to be around.
The Band is AMAZING, currently, we are a varsity band. Both of the Band Directors are amazingly talented, and make their Band perfect. (Go Bassoon!) . The Orchestra, and Choir are also amazing, and each director works their hardest, and asks you to join. Also, you can be in multiple activities, I'm in Orch., Band, and Art. The counselors work with each student on their schedule very well.
Now, that's just the tip of the Iceberg, there's also an agriculture class, a career exploration class, dual language classes, a library helper class, and many more.
I would talk about Sports, but I'm out of words. But I will say, they are very successful.
Overall, White Oak is an amazing school, that just has a bad reputation.

The vast majority of them care more about their reputation than your success or grades

The school doesn't even try to keep students interested, they just punish them if they don't pay attention. There are a few teachers that actually care about you and want you to be successful, but the majority care more about themselves than whether or not you're actually learning. All the school's extracurricular funding gets thrown into sports to get them new equipment, weight rooms, fields, etc. This leaves clubs such as Theatre, Band, and Honors Society with meager funding, meaning they shrink because they don't have the money to do everything the athletes do. The clubs that could get the students to enjoy school get swept under the rug and are treated worse than dirt.

It is an OK school. Most teachers rate better than 3 but a couple gave me a pause.

I truly love this school. Their Latin and Greek advanced classes helped my quintuplets establish a high command of the classics by Aristotle, Plato and even Homer. This school is so safe, my oldest of the five feels comfortable enough to bring his exotic international stamp collection to class for show and tell. When a kid threatened to take it away he laughed, it was just a joke. The teachers here are so happy, they smile and really like their jobs. They actually teach and enjoy their work. I'm glad these kids are recruited to the top colleges from around the world like oxford, London school of business, MIT &.of course the favorite of all white oak superstars Lone star college. Oh yeah the character building by the gangs coming in from California, the kids of drug kingpins who now fill the hallways well those guys are misunderstood, we need more money for education.

New Caney schools my grandchildren attend all seem the same. all talk no action. slogans, pep rallies, etc., yet intolerance, bullying and violence are tolerated with little or no consequences. If you have a choice protect your children by sending them somewhere else. It is no wonder the reviews are all about the same.

My daughter went to WOMS for 7th grade 2010-2011 and we will not be returning for 8th grade. No communication with parents. I actually sent an email with concerns for my daughter to all 7 teachers and not ONE, not even ONE teacher replied in any way. All the athletics are horrible and embarassing. No teenager wants to change schools and go where they don't know anyone, except for a child who HATES the school. My daughter is sad to leave her friends but is more excited about not having to deal with all the discipline and negative teachers! Very sad and something needs to be done.

I absolutely hate White Oak, Their main focus is Discipline and then Academics. I completely agree that there has to be be order in public schools but this school offers no positive re enforcement to the negative that they administer on a regular basis. If your child is not quiet and overly eager to learn with no discipline problems at all then they may could make it there but if not - This school is a nightmare !!! No Parental Involvement, as they like to keep this school under their control and do not encourage parents to get involved.

My daughter attended this school and it was the worst school experience ever. I had to withdrawl her from this school because she was constantly having issue due to the color of her skin. When going to the principal for help it was ignored!!!

I don't know why you all are writing bad reviews. White Oak Middle School is and excellent school. They have a better band, and some sports are better. They have extra curricular activities, and pretty good TAKS scores.
