I was a recent student at MacArthur and while the school has potential it’s held back due to the lack of funding, understaffed and underpaid teachers, and many troubled students who have serious mental health problems. The drug gang cliques are very common and the some of the fights I witnessed looked liked the kids were trying to kill each other at times.

I graduated from Macarthur in the spring of 2024. My experience was a…mixed bag. There’s a definite drug problem, and lots of fights. Glass doors were shattered multiple times during my 4 years there. Most of the teachers were pretty good, especially in the English and Science departments. While burnt out, they truly did try to help their students. Administration was ineffective and the counselors were mostly useless. I had an IEP for Emotional Disabilities, and while the special education department was understaffed and overworked they were truly some of the best people I met (hello Mr. K!) and the most compassionate towards students. I was never involved in sports, but the fine arts department was certainly hit or miss when it came to the teachers and the theater department specifically had an insane amount of bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, and incompetent staff. Overall: Mac can be a decent place to go to school if you’re a high achieving student who keeps your head down. Good luck if you get bullied, have any mental or physical illness, make the wrong friends, or step out of line though. Keep an eye on your kids who go here. Make sure they’re okay. It can be rough.

This school has alot of fights and usually it's 4 or 3 against 1 and then they send them to the same alternative school stupid decision they don't know where the students are when you go check them out they have cameras but the camera apparently the ap and administration and teachers only see what they want to see they'd not protect the students that are being bullied this school is a mess and only getting worst

I have had four children that have graduated from MacArthur and have recently received bachelor's degrees. They have all enjoyed attending MacArthur earning college hours with dual credit and AP courses. I now have a nephew that graduated last year and is a Freshman at UT and his sister currently attends at Mac. Like any schools, you need to get involved with a group from sports, orchestra, Journalism, PALS and so many other organizations.
I know that my children received a great education.

If you want to know where your kid is or what they are doing, this isn't the school for you or your child. They don't know what kids are on campus or not. I've picked my daughter up twice in 2023 completely incoherent at school, the second time they had to bring her out in a wheelchair. I asked the nurse how she was able to get back to school in this condition and she said, "we don't even know if she left campus." They have no clue what kids are doing at this school or if they are even there. My kid had a good reputation and grades before starting at this school November 2022. The school also had an issue with phlebotomy students taking blood from several students with out any supervision and without any parent permission.

I came to pick up my nephew after school one day and the from what I could tell the school population is filled with saggy pants little gangbangers

I hated this school now my kids go there they say they loved it but they also have bad memories of the school

there are some horrible teachers that literally don't teach, but there are also the few that care alot and push their kids. most however fall between cluelessness but capable

the ap's can't manage the school and they enforce the dumbest polices i've ever seen employed into a school system

they're very good at segregating the kids who fail to care, the kids who give to much effort for what should've been asked, and the kids who are uncapable of learning which they take good care of. atleast i think

there really isn't even many campaiugns against bullying at mac and the ap's take the legal defense of "it was one time" even though it's usually more. they don't really care about the kids who suffer through the torment as much as the kids who have to deal with living. just the other day some kids threatened to shoot up our school, possibly because of bullying.

it's comparable to our prison system; bad food, bad management, bad education, filled with soon to be criminals and american scum, and soley to appease the people who don't even go to our school.

Most of the work they give is pointless, even in the ap classes, they just throw in stuff for grades.

Lack of faculty members focused on student progression, instead they're more focused on students being graded (remain stagnant) and not improving them on their weaknesses or poor performances. They grade you and more or less leave you at that... No focusing on bettering the students in the fields of study where they preform poorly in. They'd rather show or point at what you're doing wrong and not help with improving the categories in which they're preforming poorly in.

They don't seem concerned with making students better, rather acknowledge their flaws and do nothing about it.

Im a stu @ Mac and i Like the school i have behaver class THAY are really care 2 I have Heath they go though the stu levels and bio they help the best the could they are really caring about evereybody

I am currently a freshmen at Mac and I personally would much rather go to Churchill. First of all, there is a lot of drugs, such as cannibis and pills. The student are ok, you just have to find who you belong with. There is some bullying going On. Administration seems to not like to help. And the cops there have a bad way of "prioritizing" . The fine arts teacher is not very nice with to me. I have no idea because I am crazy about fine arts. If your thinking about going to this school I would much rather do school of choice to a different school.
