I had my daughter enrolled there from Kindergarten until 4th grade. Well in 4th grade she started getting bullied . I made several reports to the school’s administration including the Principal and assistant Principal and when the Assistant Principal called me back after their investigations , she claimed they couldn’t do anything due to more than one student involved. After that I contacted the NEISD police and they also said they couldn’t do anything if the school isn’t. I let my daughter finish 4th grade then disenrolled her and had her enrolled to K12 . She’s been with K12 since and is about to start 7th grade. Such a disappointment!

This school and administration is favoritism based by small town values. Even the teachers / vice principal bully children based on who pays most for events. Not rated great for gifted children. Only 30 to 45 minutes a week for accelerated programs. Even pta president pulled her kids to homeschool...

My son’s teacher lied about events that took place, she cast out my son from the rest of the class and had no compassion for him and his situation.

My son was new to this school and was treated horribly from the beginning. They are a public private school in the sense that they do not know how to treat children with special needs.

There is no real leadership. No principal and acting principal is void. We have had to deal with the Asst. Principal regarding all matters and have been met with opposition.

My son was treated like he was a monster. He has severe ADHD and was made to feel like he was the worst kid in school. No teachers wanted to help him.

My son was the first kid to get Covid and he was bullied, charged with Terroristic threats for removing his mask in PE and made an example of.

Horrible!! We were all treated with disrespect and disdain. Windcrest Elementary wanted my son gone and they got their wish.

We have been at Windcrest for 13 years. They have had their ups and downs during this time. It was a really good school for the first several years we were there. Very accommodating to our special needs, friendly, cheerful and the students were well mannered. They are now getting a new building which will be a huge improvement as they have had to deal with an increasing enrollment without the needed increased space. The new administration has been very receptive and we have seen a noticeable improvement in the school. The secretary and data processor are excellent! We all need to remember that the schools have to deal with the students that are enrolled and the better the environment and education a child receives outside of the school, the better their school outcome will be. We as parents and adults need to work extra hard to set on right examples of what we want our children to be: leaders, honest, hardworking, considerate of others, compassionate and caring. As we all know we can't expect a school to do it all for us. We need to be willing to step up to the plate and take a supportive, active roll of our children's education. Show them we care and they will care in return.

Windcrest is an OK school. The teachers are doing the best they can within a system that is less than perfect. The school does try to encourage parent involvement, but there is very little of it. As previously mentioned, if one of my kids gets sent to the nurse, I am not called & have to find out about it after school when he tells me. There is a new principal and vice this year, but I haven't seen any changes thus far from the last admin. They moved the portables to a very back corner of the lot to build a new building (construction of which has not started, not even breaking ground) and the kids have to walk in the rain and cold - my son came home drenched one day when he was told he couldn't go get his umbrella. Also, I see many parents drop their kids off at the back corner & there is no monitor or check-in which makes me worry about the security. Last year, my son was in 2nd grade and the spring semesters were awful; he went through many subs and they didn't teach them anything or send homework so the 3rd grade teachers had to play catch up this year. If you're looking for top of the line, send your kid to DATA. For a regular public school exp, Windcrest is fine.

This school is HORRIBLE!!!! My child has only been at this school for a few weeks and there has been major issues every week. First, the teachers are trying to play catch up for the students that have not had any previous education so the kids that already know the basics, such as their abc's, are not advancing in any way, which I realize is not the schools fault. People need to participate in their child's education. But, it is still a downside if you would like to see your child progress farther than learning how to raise their hand when they have a question or draw a picture of a turtle. Secondly, when something OMG bad happens to my child, I did not hear one word from the school. My child told me after she got home. When I confronted the school about it, all I got was the standard " Sorry". I want to know how you are going to prevent endangering my child, not "sorry". The only reason I would even give this school one star is because I had no problem getting in contact, through email, to the staff (with the minor problems). With the larger problems, you can either speak to the teacher or you have to wait and make an appointment to speak to the principal/vice principal.

This is a school that keeps raising the bar for the students and staff. Teachers work digilently to build quality lessons that promote student success. Teachers are great with parent communication and student success is their ultimate goal. New programs and systems are put into place to promote a more positive learning environment. Such as the safe ambassadors program which teaches students how to keep our school bully free.
