In my and my daughter's time at this school. It was excellent, fun, and enlightening. I highly recommend it to any student and family who desires to help their student get a great start into college and adulthood.

Four years ago, my daughter and I were excited when she was selected to attend ISA. Four years later, she and I are extremely disappointed with her experience. The principal created an environment where only a select few students were given the opportunity to grow as leaders. The principal and his staff used bias and favoritism to limit opportunities for certain groups of students when it came to academic and social events, such as graduation, awards ceremonies and school organizations. The school did not provide a safe learning environment based on fairness, merit and equality. Students who were denied opportunities were afraid to speak up due to the fear that they would be kicked out of ISA and sent back to their home campus. I do NOT recommend ISA, especially for Latino and African-American students.

I have 2 students that graduated from ISA. Both left very well rounded and prepared for college life and life outside the classroom. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The travel experiences are amazing and the school strives to be inclusive in many ways.

I'm a junior at ISA. The school has the atmosphere of a private school, despite being public. If there is one thing you absolutely have to know about this place, it's that the students are absolutely obsessed with sexto a worrisome degree. I thought I was losing it when I went here at first because people would randomly tell me about hookups, etc. I do not recommend this place at all honestly. Schooling in San Antonio is subpar compared to Austin, and I assume it's like this for the rest of Texas, but you are better off just going to your zoned school than driving out to have your ears feel violated incessantly.

My child attended private school before being accepted into ISA. I have to say that the teachers and staff are so dedicated to our children.

ISA encourages students to be critical thinkers and not just regurgitate memorized facts. Another reviewer here mentioned that these are all upper middle class kids Ive had three kids in this school and have not found this to be the case. There is a diverse student body and if your kid is open-minded, he or she will learn a lot about different segments of the larger population in San Antonio through this microcosm.
As a preparation for college, ISA is outstanding. Development of writing skills required for college success is incredible.

7/10. It claims a little more than it actually puts into practice. These are upper middle class kids who were intelligent to begin with and are given a mediocre amount of tools to go to college with. Although it is drastically better in its staff and opportunities than other schools in the city, there are many ways ISA could improve.

While ISA does a lot to prepare students for college classes in difficultly, it seriously lacks a homework load that I believe would be representative of a college student.

Great school, but....Why are there so few African American students? This school has the LOWEST percentage (1.7%) of African American students in NEISD. No other high school has numbers anywhere near this low. This is particularly problematic given that ISA is a top magnet school that draws from the entire district (and beyond). Diversity and excellence go hand and hand (something I think ISA & NEISD leadership would agree on) so I'm hoping that in the future there will be more serious efforts to recruit and retain African American students at ISA. In my opinion this will result in a student body that is even more prepared to deal with the realities of our city, our state, our country and (perhaps most importantly) the broader WORLD we live in.
