Besides the principal the communication is horrible! I left a review on google. This year for my child has just left a sour taste.

First few months of the school were great till the students changed more and more. Fights in the restrooms everyday, people skipping classes, racist/fatphobic jokes, etc. the school itself is overall okay but the students make it worse. One of the buses in this school is so bad that it’s the only thing making me anxious at school. People push eachother, cut in line, scream, hateful words, etc. Please fix handling students, it’s only my first year in this school yet it’s so tiring.

My dislike the school very much. I have taken the advanced placement classes and I get bullied pretty often. The teachers rarely punish the children causing trouble and disturbing classes. The front office and the nurse is not really too good or too appealing for someone to have their child deal with. I would go to the nurse's office from injuries and I always got an unwelcome feeling from them to the point I would just suffer from the pain from the injury from the fear of the nurse and how unwelcome she made me feel. The problem with the front office was that when we had called for help from the school they either A, ignored the calls or B, they would answer and give little help as possible, as well in when you when to the school physically the office was also rushing you to get the problem making you feel unwanted and just seemed like they didn't really want to help you. An example on my harassments was that I was pushed down the stairs with also them taking down my friends as well and so I had a bruise for weeks and I didn't go to the nurse out of the fear from the nurse. The next problem was that the trouble makers at school would run around in the halls banging and slamming on the doors, walls, and lockers disturbing the classes and then also using inappropriate language and harm other students at times. The school however likes to let them "slide" while the teachers have made complaints as well with to one kid was so much of a disturbance to the point were the kid was assigned a different school for a while but that was the only punishment that was given. Overall I do not recommend this school but most of the teachers are very nice but there are semi a lot of teachers who will try to take control of the child and discriminate them.

This school has too many disrespectful students! They disrupt the classes, are defiant, and refuse to follow simple instructions. They prevent the students who want to learn from doing so.
A possible solution would be for parents to support the teachers and administration: make sure your children understand that it's important to be respectful and polite to everyone.
And students don't need their phones during class time. They text, watch videos, and even make and take calls during class!

Bullying is a huge problem that does not seem to be punished. My son refused to fight because he did not want it on his record. He received multiple blows to the face and body. The school still suspended him while the other child, because he broke his wrist on my son's face, was given opportunity to place charges and only one day of OCS. My son was continually bullied for no reason at all. Things were stolen from him in the classroom and he was punished for not having it. Name calling, pushing, violence. Very common.

My experience with this school was not good. Although I loved the principle and many of the teachers, overall, there justvis not enough staff/resource to handle the rough group of students who attend.

Rudder gives minimal homework. It seems just enough for the kids to review what they learned. This give our family more time for home activities.

I love the principle, but the office staff is not efficient at handling bullying. The problem got so bad that I ended up having to pull my son from the school.

Terrible school. Principle is very helpful only to get you out of her hair so you will feel satisfied enough to not further bother her. Most teachers are a joke. I will not say all to be fair but a good number are lousy. Coming from a family of educators a school is only as good as the principle. She/he is the "boss" and if they are not doing their job, guess what folks, neither are the teachers, administrators and so forth.

My students attend Rudder. I believe that it is a very high quality school. The teachers put forth great effort to teach the students and to hold them to high expectations in their academics. The coaching staff is awesome and the band directors push the musicians to become the best they can be. I have notices that there is a wide variety of students at Rudder and my students love getting to meet all types of people. When I have interacted with the administration, they have had the safety and care of the students as their highest priority. In fact, I have heard them say multiple times that I a child doesn't feel safe they cannot learn. Rudder is a great place to send your students and I am proud that my children had the opportunity to go there.

Teacher quality is sometimes good. They care about teaching you but that's about it. When it comes to bullying, they only send the person they assume is the bully to ISS and/or alternative school. They only send the student to the counselor if that student is crying all day or if they complain about wanting to kill themselves. The principal rarely gets involved and if she does it's only about threatening to send the student to lunch detention if they wear a blue sweater with a logo even though it's 40 degrees outside. They have lockers everywhere even though they are banned to use. The worst thing is probably the "populars." Teachers never notice this. Heck, they even treat the populars better! What I mean by populars is those who wear skin-tight khakis, XS polo shirts, dye their hair every 2 weeks, and get new boyfriends/girlfriends every other day. They only use non-populars to ask for homework answers. Other than that, they treat them like trash. If you are thinking of putting your child in this school and are not willing to buy them khakis and polos that are 3 sizes below their regular or bring them to the salon to dye their hair every other week, this isn't the school for you.

Having taught at this school, it is unfortunate that classrooms have become very overcrowded and access to the library and CIT severely curtailed due to district cutbacks. The PTA could be more involved in student interests, but many of the parents of students attending this school are working long hours. The faculty is fantastic and doing all it can even though times are trying. Anyone who can be a school volunteer would be a big asset to the school. There is a great need. Many of the students are economically disadantaged.
