Overall I do not recommend this school. My son has attended since kindergarten and is now in third grade. He has slipped through the cracks and is still at a kindergarten level. Despite being told he is progressing over and over when in reality he is not and our family had to outsource tutoring. The administration is continually changing, the teachers are usually out due to whatever reasons meaning you will see a lot of subs often. The lack of communication between years is horrific. I will say you do get the occasional nice teacher which only happened once for my son then he had a sub for the rest of the year. From his first year he had a teacher that should have retired , allot of the teachers you see will have no patience and yelling is what they think helps. This school has really gone down hill. Think highly of not sending your child here because they do not have any plans in place for bullying either and you will need to advocate for your child big time here. Unexperienced and unprofessional school.

My son is in 3rd grade and we moved here from California. He LOVES this school. His teacher does a very good job at keeping me informed. There is NO homework, which at first I was apprehensive about, but to be honest it has been amazing for our family time. So far we love this school!

My child had a difficult time this year. As if it wasn't bad enough that she had to attend asynchronous learning, she had a teacher that appeared apathetic to the student's success altogether. The asynchronous curriculum for the Kindergarten level was comprised of the teacher playing Youtube videos and utilizing flash cards. This teacher did not deign to crack open a book and actually read for the students. This teacher could not tolerate a student's eyes drifting away momentarily from their iPad screen without over-correcting and harshly addressing the student. This teacher did not seem to understand that a 5-6 year old has the attention span of a golden retriever. Administration did field my "concerns" however were unwilling to take action on them for reasons I will not type here because they are as offensive as they are ableist. There were a couple of bright spots in the curriculum provided by both the art and music teachers (Mobley and Raker). They found a way to be engaging and exciting while still being informative all through asynchronous learning. They were the only thing my child looked forward to.

I know this year was tough but in no way should it have been taken out on the students. This was our first year here and it will be our last. We are luckily in the unique position to be able to choose a different campus for our child.

If you are reading this and wondering if you should send your child here, this is your sign not to. If you are reading this and wondering what the school is like because you just moved here and your child(ren) will be there next year, take this with a grain of salt. You may have a different experience. Just be prepared to be very supportive of your child and don't expect administration to be on the student's side.

This is as bare bones as you get for an education setting. There is no effort put in the students, organizations for students, curriculums, and community engagement. They are doing a disservice to the community. I can confirm the no homework, clubs, competitive clubs, or effort towards the special Ed department. My wife and I are educators and they tried on multiple occasions to not provide the services to our child who is in need of sped services. If they try to pull a fast one on parents who are educators who knows what they do to the general community of mostly Hispanic environment.

My 2nd grader learned all of the curse words and all about the birds and the bees from fellow classmates and their teacher said the counselors are aware. Nothing more they could do. Both the 4th and 2nd grader were bullied for not playing fortnite video game.

Principal was not concerned with making changes. She just wanted to pacify parents and move on.

GT program is non existant. Although I found that study and projects in the 4 main areas is recommend for the program, the GT teacher told me only 1 is required. So they spend 1 day a week doing self guided"research". There is nothing at this school for students who are operating above grade level. Only for those who struggle. Plenty of opportunity for "extra credit" to make sure they pass. It's good they are going to be a dual language school starting next year because that is who they cater to.

As I stated before, they were both bullied for not playing teen rated games. Nothing the counselors can do. The 4th grade teacher put a stop to it in class, but not controlled or monitored elsewhere.

I wish there were more reviews about this school I could have read before I let my 2 boys attend this year. I would have made other arrangements. This is my first year in this state and heard NISD is a great district. I want to leave my experience here for others so they dont have to go through this as well.

Neither my 2nd nor 4th grader had homework all year.

Both of my boys were in GT for a year and had nothing to show for it save a page of notes for a project never completed. They were both a grade level ahead when they began this year and have fallen back to grade level. Teachers are solely concerned that they pass.
