Worrisome patterns of chronic student absenteeism have been identified.

My main concern is about attendance. When I go to take exams such as the STAAR tests or similar tests that require going to a different classroom with a different committee, I am marked absent in my original class. I understand that according to protocol, a student is marked absent if they are not physically present in their assigned classroom.
The problem is that my attendance has not been corrected afterward. I have followed up with the attendance office multiple times, but it has been almost four months since I took the STAAR test and several other exams, and my attendance record is still not updated.
This situation is very frustrating because I was present at school and only left my class to take required exams. It has reached a point where I feel uncomfortable going to tests because I know I will be marked absent and the issue will not be fixed.

Connally is the worst school in the PFISD School District. The school is very dirty and we have roaches, mice, bats, and wasps. This school is super unsafe and just completly horrible the counsolurs barley reach out to the students for anything and the teachers don't even teach. We didn't even have a Homecoming we just had a school game and we still had to pay 8 dollars to attend. I am constantly pulled out of class for fire drills because people smoke in the restrooms and overall the staff is just the worst. This place is such a sorry excuse for a school compared to the other schools in the district. Connally is like the forgotten child of PFISD and it sucks here please don't enroll your children.

Contrary to what the ratings of this school show, I loved going here. I was able to be very well prepared and learn a lot. When looking at scores remember that like 16% of people in this school are still learning English which makes standardized testing hard. I think this school is a great, diverse place to send your child.

So far it has not been a positive experience. As a parent volunteering at the school the things I see are disappointing. Great students are lost in the crowd. If your student isn't a trouble maker the staff doesn't even know who they are. Sad.

I regret sending my child to this school. The teachers are horrible. My daughter has told me very disheartening stories about her teachers who cannot answer basic questions she has. She's had to resort to YouTube videos to learn.
When Principal Ward left (who was moving the school in the right direction) I hoped they would really research and recruit a strong leader for the school. Nope they just promoted the Vice Principal who was a bad choice. I barely remember her name as she seems to just coast along with no real strategy to improve the school.
Parent involvement is very poor. An extremely small number of parents do a huge amount of work. That is typical of what you expect here. It feels like neither the students, teachers, administrators nor parents care at all about a solid education.
Oh and one of the cool things about this school was the orchestra program (only PFISD high school to have it) but now they are canceling it. What a smart move. :(
This is our 4th year & glad it will be our last. I hate to be harsh but everything I've said is true. You're MUCH better off at Pflugerville or Hendrickson.

I have been at this school for 4 years and all I can say is crazy. This school thinks it has school spirit but it really does not. Most students look dead and want to go home. The only good thing about this school are the friends I have made, other than that, nothing else.

No, ive witnessed a teacher buck up to a student. Lie on a student, etc. I have mentioned concerns that I was told would be discussed and that never happened. They expect you to turn the other cheek and most parents only hear the negatives from administration and staff.

I met Principal Ward and he seems like he is on the right path with Connally, however, ive been informed and experienced his lack of involvement and interaction with minority staff members. Assistant Principal Reed can be very rude and none approachable at times, she seems to take anything you say or do personal when that shouldn't be the case. Some of the staff is awesome, some complain that they don't want to be at Connally and their attitudes reflect on the students. The students aren't the issue at Connally, it is some of the staff. Staff mistreat each other and the students. I have witnessed it and not proud of it. Connally would not be a choice for my student to attend. The environment is dark, has NO MORAL and it takes a village, not just one person in this matter to make a difference. They need an Assistant Principal that compliments the Principle and has his energetic and loving personality, the Assistant Principle is in fact the one you converse with before seeing the Principal for any situation that calls for that degree of administration. The school & the staff needs life in order to give life to our students. The good teachers get unnoticed due to the inconsiderate and rude teachers. Sad, but true.

My child attends this school. They are currently a senior, and they have loved the school for all 4 years. They're actually pretty sad to graduate next month because of all of the opportunities presented by the school. The activities they enjoy that the school provides well are mathematics and culinary (a subject I haven't seen in many other high schools). Also, the students aren't as bad as other schools I've seen. They have a lot of friends there, and the over all environment is inviting to new people.I highly recommend this school to prepare your children for the real world.

This school is horrible, I'm currently a senior, and I transferred here in the beginning of the school year. If you're thinking about transferring your kid here, don't do it. Every administrator I've met so far and talked to are very rude and disrespectful. I understand that a lot of the kids here are pretty "bad" very mean and crude or whatever else. These administrators has probably been through a lot dealing with a exceptional amount of delinquents but it's gotten to the point where they don't have respect for any student because of it. They shouldn't be so biased about their students, because I'm a respectful person and I honestly understand why these kids are rude to them. They don't try to listen or understand at all.

Both of my children are currently attending Connally and our family could not be happier! Diversity, opportunity, enthusiasm - all of these things are part their quality education. Debate, sports, languages, music (band/orchestra/choir), culinary, theater arts, etc - most have active parent groups with an active PTA on top of that. Connally has been first in the district to implement many new programs successfully and continues to be forward thinking. Great school!
