This is the first year my kids have gone to the school. My daughter is in kindergarten and my son is in third grade. never have I ever been to a school that is so disorganized and some of the teachers are rude. The front office doesn’t ever know anything happening in the classrooms or know about a situation. My daughter got hurt before and I never got a call from the office when she got hurt on the head. Despite my daughter getting hurt, they are bad at communication. My kids are never going to the school ever again worst school ever. I only took them because we live across the street at the apartments. I would give zero stars to this school, but I had to at least give one in order to write the review.
I would never recommend this school to anyone!

I am a bus driver also a teacher, the stories I hear about children's days. The stories I hear from parents. The way these teachers talk to children, shut up, stupid, I don't care! Now days it is so easy to make a child feel so little & worthless ( yall have no idea what some of these children go through at home). Suicidal rates are so high! It is our job as teachers to make these children feel loved & wanted to make them feel worth something to make them feel like one day they will conquer the world. And yall sit here & do the total opposite! I have had a whole year driving these children so sweet excited everyday & I've seen a big difference at dropping off.

i love that AME is very creative learning experience for my kids, they have many different classes and results show lots of progress in my kids.

I truly enjoy the entire environment and academic rigor that Anderson Mill provides. My child attends there and has shown positive growth both as a person and as a student. As I read the negative comments that this school were given, it saddens me that any parent would not raise their concerns first with the child's teacher and then with administration before positing their frustrations publicly. Like in any school, there are pros and cons.

I would prefer that homework be given at each grade level to support what is being taught in class. Not all the grade levels provide homework.

We have been at AME four years now. The principal and staff are all very caring and dedicated. AME follows the IB curriculum, so there are unique projects at each grade level. We just finished up an Economics program in third grade, and a Living History project in fourth. The PTA is small, but active, and hosts a variety of programs throughout the year, like Health and Fitness night, literacy night, and the Fun Run. It is a very diverse school economically, and culturally. As someone noted below, there is free breakfast, since we are currently a Title I school. There is also a parent support specialist on staff, and AME hosts a chapter of the RRISD Clothes Closet. I do wish there was more emphasis on the basics like spelling and multiplication tables, but from what I hear, that's the STARR test fallout, and is sadly the case in most public schools. Communication could be better at a schoolwide level, I know some schools send out a weekly newsletter via email, and I would love to have less paper to lose in my kids' backpacks. All in all, our experience has been overwhelmingly positive.

My stepson has been at this school since second grade and is finishing up fifth this year and I so glad he is leaving!!!! The teachers he has had over the years have been decent, but I know better ones in other schools. The curriculum is very weak for his age level. He barely had any homework all years and he didn't ever really understand the homework provided majority of the time. They spent a lot of time on the standardize test practice, then actual knowledge and know how. I am concerned for him starting in middle school at an advanced level. He was considered top of his class in all years, but has a hard time dividing. Truly an embarrassment for the school. I hate to rank the school one star. If you want your kids to grow up successful they need to be challenged more and this school is not it!

Anderson Mill is an abomination to the Round Rock school district. I have to question the intentions/references of anyone who would give this school a decent ranking. Yes, there are some caring teachers and volunteers, but if you have looked around at all, you know that AME does not provide the same level of education as the other schools in this area do. If you are honestly considering whether or not to send your child to Anderson Mill, do not just read these reviews. I strongly encourage you to visit a few other elementary schools in RRISD and then visit AME. Spicewood Springs or England Elementary, for instance. Make an appointment and request to speak to the principal and a few teachers at each school while you are there. The teachers and administrators at other schools are so passionate and forward-thinking. And then to see the bumbling, lack-luster approach of AME. It is heart-breaking. AME is setting these kids up for failure. The students coming out of this school don't stand a chance when they get to middle school and they are too far behind to make up the gap. No child deserves to fail before they have even begun. Please, please, please do your homework.

Faculty and staff at Anderson Mill are amazing and very easy to communicate with. My children are happy and enjoy going to Anderson Mill. My son is in 4th grade and has been there since kinder, my daughter is in 1st grade and has also been at AME since kinder.

AME has so much heart! My children have been there for the past 4 years. The teachers have always been dedicated, nurturing, and go above and beyond to give each student caring attention. Years ago we saw some issues with the administration, but the current principal has done an amazing job to turn the school around. Teachers are held to high standards, both by the school and the IB program. I love the IB program! Our kids are being taught to think! At a summer writing camp, my daughter quickly rose to the top of the class because of the communication and critical thinking skills she gained in IB that kids from other schools just didn't get. All kids learn Spanish, and all specials (PE, art, music) are fun and creative. PTA is small but really friendly, and work really hard at fostering community. My children feel very safe there and know all the staff and are so well supported and encouraged. Lots of creative projects and teaching methods...kids cannot wait to go to school every day.

As an active parent of several students at Anderson Mill, we have seen big improvements in the years since the current principal has taken over, she was named an H-E-B Excellence in Education finalist in 2013. The school rating is now Exemplary. The teachers are active and involved in the school as well. The International Baccalaureate School rating means they can't and don't teach to the test but take a world view on education with tough standards for teachers and school staff to remain an IB school. We have a small but active and inclusive PTA, Watch D.O.G.S program for Men to volunteer as well as active after school clubs and family events through out the year. Students are called scholars to set the right attitude for life long learning. The great Apprenticeship program has professionals, volunteer to teach about their professions for 6 weeks, truly learning about a profession. We love our school.

My daughter has been in the dual language class since kindergarten. AME is an awesome school with wonderful teachers, and the most amazing principal. Every teacher my daughter has had is great! The only negative thing I can say about this school is, there is not enough parent involvement. I was on the PTA for the last 5 years and it lacks parents support. We are moving next year, so my daughter will not be attending AME. Every person I talk to in my neighborhood that has children going to AME, I tell them it is such a great school. I really don't care if the school is old and small. The great staff makes up for it.

Anderson Mill is ranked in the bottom 20% of Texas schools and after a year there, I completely understand why. Yes, the test scores are bad and yes, the school is old and small. However, the administration is truly the worst of any school I have ever encountered. Everything about this school is sloppy and most of the staff are completely apathetic... Safety hazards on the playground, years of food dried on the cafeteria walls, planters for student gardens that had weeds all year long... why, why, why? General grounds maintenance, a simple coat of paint, giving the kids some seeds to plant... it wouldn't cost much, just someone caring enough to get it done. As others have mentioned, we encountered bullying issues, grades not entered online in a timely manner (if at all) and serious concerns that my child does not have the foundation needed to survive, let alone excel, in middle school. The kick in the stomach is that it doesn't have to be this way. If the administration had any standards or school pride for themselves or the kids, things could be different. It starts at the top... RRISD needs to clean house and get someone competent who actually cares about the students.

My son (and I guess my family) have had/are having a great experience at Anderson Mill! My son's in the Spanish Immersion program, and I am SO SO pleased at how he's done. I'm not sure what's going on with the bad reviews below ... no bullying problems in my son's class (and I'm a super involved mom, so I would know!) and the curriculum is great - I get reports on my son's progress, the works!

First of all, with all my respect, I appreciate the hard working teachers at AMES. however it seems that this school has serious academic weakness. I don't get enough updates what my child is learning everyday at school. I think the school doesn't give children enough and adequate homework through the year, on which I feel hard to support my child at home. teachers and office workers are nice though, I can't stop worrying about my child's academic achievement at this school. So I bought many workbooks myself and do work with my child at home. Hopefully the school will figure out solution about it and act for it as soon as possible.

The year my child went to this school was the worst year of our lives! The teachers/administration do not seem to care about the wellbeing of children. I, in addition to SEVERAL other parents, pulled their children out due to severe and persistant bullying issues. NOTHING was done about the child who was bullying my child. I was told that I can remove my child from the class. My friend's son was beaten up on the playground after 3 years of bullying. In addition, there was NO communication between the teachers and myself, and no homework to know what they were learning. I emailed the teacher on many occasions, but I would get responses that said everything was perfect. However, I had several people tell me my child sat on the playground and cried everyday. My child even BEGGED me to take her home early when she saw me come to the school at recess time. The teacher still insisted there was nothing wrong with her. There is no intervention for bullying, no resources for special needs children (unless they are grossly impaired), and barely any parental involvement. A lot of great and active parents tend to leave due to the same issues. Terrible school!!!

Have been at AME for about a yr now. The staff and teachers are really helpful and my son has done wonderfully there! We will be sad to leave when we move in June.
