Chisholm Middle School is a great school. It converges some more affluent elementary schools with some less affluent elementary schools so there is a more diverse group of kids, just like in real life. Because of this, some parents want to keep their kids sheltered and dont feel like there kids will get as good of an education and thats simply not the case. It all comes down to parent involvement. Your kid gets out of school what they put into it. Most teachers are fantastic, the Principal is top notch. The school is clean and safe. Both my kids did great there and its literally right down the street from the beautiful high school.

Being a kid who attends this school since 6th grade, the counselors are always or mostly in meetings ALL. THE. TIME. Most kids are disrespectful towards kids and staff and they laugh at you, call you out, or judge you. Also I have NEVER seen this school do something about bullying or even bring it up at ALL. The next thing is that there is this one teacher who thinks its okay for her to put her hands on students because, and I quote "Ive known them for a long time" and I know so well those kids feel uncomfortable with that lady doing that by the look on their faces, and when you the bare minimum, she gets mad at you and threatens to send you to the office or call your parents. Next problem is this school is overflowing with students, ive recently noticed that some kids(including me) has gotten their shedule changed due to classes being full and there is no point in changing your schedule because there is barely any free space for people. Then there are the bad parts, in 6th grade the 8th grade girls bathroom smelled like weed so it was obvious someone was smoking or vaping, next there are the staff ignoring dress code when girls show up with booty shorts or even boy underwear and they will only dress code you when your stomach or shoulders(like what?) And dont even get me started on the drama that led to SO MANY fights that even someone made an instagram page dedicated to the fights that happen there and when trying to seperate the students, it looks like they are barely even trying. I had really high hopes for this school back in 5th grade but I wish I could go back in time and tell myself "dont get your hopes up" because my 5th grade teacher was right about the kids at this school being HORRIBLE. This school is so bad that a kid tried to jump off a high part at school back in 7th grade after lunch.
So would I reccomend this school? Sure if you want your A+ always happy child to be bullied and start failing their classes, and I doubt any parent wants that for their child so please dont sign your kid up at this school

Ctms is a good enough middle school with some caveats that need to be addressed by the school:

- for the most part, teachers are great Chisholm. There are exceptions, mostly with coaches forced to teach (some, not all)
- vice principal support is strong and grade level focused
- the principal is VERY focused on athletics, especially football. His weekly emails/video updates focus 90% on athletics. Academic achievement rarely gets called out and if it does, it is not nearly with the same enthusiasm as with athletics. Even within athletics, football takes the main stage. Other sports take a back seat. School social media is also very football focused
- it is well known within the school that certain teachers will always give football players passing grades in order to participate in football games. This is very disheartening to students who put in the effort. This privilege is used as a brag by football players.
- certain history teachers dont even try to teach kids and have a reputation among students.
- on the plus side, the school put a no phone usage policy in place this year which was a fantastic move

If the school could give as much focus/praise to academics as they do to athletics, the student culture would be much better. The hierarchy created by the principal is disappointing.

Again, not a bad school, just an easy opportunity to change the culture away from football focus only.

Biology teacher is dismisive to my son: keeps on putting him off, rather than guide. Educational principle has no integrity. She did not get back to me as she said she would. The school has added 20 days absent for my child, which is a mistake and they will not address it. I believe it is one rule for certain kids and others get a pass.

They try, but unfortunately bullying still happens. Most of this is or should be taught at home.

This is our first year here and academically it has been great - some of the kids are bullies, but the administration doesnt put up with them.

As a student at Chisholm trail the teachers don't give you tons of homework. They space out the amount of homework you get.

My daughter has enjoyed her classes here. She's had excellent and patient teachers and made good friends. I am s very pleased with the Texas Education Agency's accountability ratings for this school!

I had concerns when my child was about to start Chisholm Trail. I heard all of the rumors that most have heard. We have had the best experience. My child has anxiety issues and he has told me he does NOT want to go anywhere else. We had a bullying incident last year (6th grade) and we are currently dealing with another. The administration is OUTSTANDING and they have taken care of the situation beyond my expectations. Middle school is a rough time and no matter where your child goes to school they are going to have bullies and discipline problems. The key is having a staff that takes care of it quickly and effectively. All the staff we have dealt with are very approachable and the kids seem to love them.

Love this school and so do my kids. This school has the most amazing group of administrators that anyone could ask for. Fine Arts are outstanding and kids are given the opportunity to participate in so many different extracurricular activities. Couldn't be happier!!!

I have 2 boys at this school and the programs are fantastic! The theatre arts department has really helped my 8th grade son break out of a shell. The communication the teachers have with the parents has been really wonderful too. I get daily emails about what was taught in class. So when I ask my new 6th grader what he learned in school, and he says "nothing really", I have something to discuss with him. I can keep track of the grades he is getting on each assignment too.

My daughter is in 8th grade at Chisholm and this year I have had nothing but problems. I have to beg the teachers to help my daughter. The language arts teacher quit during the first semester, she was followed by a long term sub and then a teacher who expects college level writing from the students. The history teacher was also out early on in the first semester so there was a long term sub in his place which I could never get to return a phone call, email or message. The teacher returned a week before the semester ended and when I contacted him he told me he felt my child was ok with her grade. I felt much different considering she was balling next to me because he was hateful and refused to help her. Sounds like I have a bad kid right? Wrong! Until this year she was a straight A student and plans to attend medical school however with this set of educators I'll be lucky to get her out of middle school. I am seriously considering moving her to another school next week to finish out the year. If you have the choice, don't put your child in this school!

This is the worst school I have ever seen. There are fights almost daily, and my 6th grader is afraid of a lot of these kids. They cuss, they're disrespectful, they fight. My girl went from straight As to having a 16 in one of her classes. A 16!!! Teacher communication was terrible in that class. We are pulling my kiddo out of this school mid term. That's how bad it is.

I think that even if there is some kids who chose that wrong path, there's also going to be to be the population of kids that chose to do the right thing and have integrity. Sure there's "that crowd" but there are those kind of crowds anywhere. We are halfway through the year and there has been about 3 fights which are just catfights but the teachers mean business when they say they want responsibility and no nonsense. Principal sormani is also great. The acedemic grades are pretty high too and overall this is one of the best public schools I have experienced and I have experience quite a few:)

This school sucks in every way possible. I don't have the anger or energy to write a better review, but I'll just say the administration does not take care of bullying, the teachers don't teach, the counselors don't help with serious problems at all, & neither do the principals. They kick kids out of school for no reason.

My nephew who is mildly autistic was given 20 days in alternative school for picking up a 2 inch ( key chain size) pocket knife. He has never been in trouble before. He was suspended for 3 days, but they didnt feel that was enough. They admitt to understanding his disability, but dont care. He is afraid of what will happen to him there. He will have to do his academic work correctly and keep his uniform shirt tucked in otherwise he will loose credit for the day. with his disabilitys, he may NEVER get out! He didnt even know he was doing anything wrong.

If your child isn't in the advanced placement program then they are thrown in with the "general population." We moved here a year ago and my daughter does not like it here. We orginally chose Round Rock because of a reputation for having good schools. Apparently there are only pockets of good schools. My daughter tells me that the kids here use drugs and engage in sexual activity before and after school. She says that some of the kids are extremely disrespectful to the teachers. If they are sent to the office they are returned within minutes with no consequences for their actions. I have not seen much in the way of parental involvement either. I would not recommend this school at all. :(
