This school is very concerning for me and I feel it needs to be investigated kids are not learning here and it's concerning to have a school open and children aren't successful out this school 2 of my 3 kids hated briscoe and couldn't wait to leave the school the teachers are mean and rude they speak to the kids ugly and scream at the younger prek and kinder kids the principle never gets back to parents when they have concerns she seems like she doesn't want to deal with it and believes her staff more then the parents of the children they get mad if you hang around and use the playground the female gym coach is very rude and disrespectful there's alot of concerns and this school should be closed because kids are not successful here it's sad how nothing gets done and alot of parents don't say anything wish more people spoke up this elementary needs to be closed or fire everyone and get all new employees or send them back for them to be retrained cause these staff and principle is a sad representation for SAISD

I love this school. They have great spirit and are very helpful and accommodating to any issues you may have. I am completely satisfied with everything my child has learned and is learning and would recommend this school to anyone looking for a quality elementary school.

Briscoe Academy is doing an excellent job in a challenging socio-economic environment. The children come from a wide variety of lower income families, many with only a single parent. The school is situated in an older part of town that seemingly never rose above a 1940's mixed use zoning arrangement that has small businesses and office building interspersed with housing areas. At one time the area was more affluent, but now the parents' jobs don't bring in as much, as evidenced by clothing, cars, and life style indicators such as fine arrays of tattoos and cigarettes. Nevertheless, the children come, as well dressed and supplied as possible. The teaching staff is committed, caring, and sensitive to the cultural, social, and functional needs of their pupils. Most teachers are apparently bilingual. There are many activities and field trips. Good work is rewarded. Discipline incidents are handled fairly and good behavior recognized. The school building itself is well maintained, albeit on a limited budget. The evidence of excellence is my granddaughters ability to read above grade level and excel in all subject areas. Success is enabled and reinforced at Briscoe Academy.

This school is not interested in the children at all by far. They are more concerned with funding and do not care about the whereabouts of their children....1 of the teachers allowed my child to leave without getting identification, and for 3 hours I worried about my child's whereabouts...then my child was singled out and punished because I spoke up, and this is how they treat parents for their own institution's mistakes! I would not recommend this poor excuse for a school to anyone! If there was a slot for zero stars...that's what I would give them*
