My son attended Santa Fe High School between 2021 and 2024, from his freshman year through his junior year. He was heavily involved in the musical theater department and the choir, and because of that we received firsthand experience when it came to how the school district valued, (or rather, devalued), the fine arts programs at the school. Less than $1,000 annually was given to the musical theater department to conduct performances, support travel costs for UIL contests and regional contests, and every other expenditure the department incurred. Every year the musical theater department performs their largest show, the Spring Musical, which is always a spectacle and over the top with beautiful scenery and detailed costumes. As a parent of one of the students in the musicals, and especially when he was the lead in the last musical he performed in, I found out just how much funding came from the parents and outside donations to make these amazing musicals possible. Trying to petition the school board 2 years in a row was fruitless, and all in all, the entire experience was beyond frustrating and extremely disheartening. Even the high schools choir director at the time, (who by the way, was AMAZING and went above and beyond for her students every single day!), couldn't catch a break. Instead of hiring an assistant director, or better yet, hiring a separate choir director for Santa Fe Junior High School, this poor woman was forced to go back and forth between both schools each day to teach every choir student from 6th grade through 12th grade. Eventually she was forced to resign and leave the students who had grown to love her and the parents who trusted and depended on her. Beyond the theater arts issues, my son was repeatedly the victim of targeted bullying from students who were allowed to get away with everything by a school and district that simply could not be bothered with anything other than baseball games, football games, and exploitation of the tragedy on May 18, 2018 for financial gain. I DON'T RECOMMEND.

Having attended this school, I can tell you it is not a great place. The education is poor as seniors were still learning punctuation. Bullying is a staple to this school and even some teachers play a role in it. The kids who bully others are often the ones well-liked, even favored, by administrators so no action is actually taken. Not a conducive environment for any children. Highly recommend anywhere else.

The school has completely gone down hill 2018. The staff is regularly missing. Staff show no care that students who wait in line for the metal detectors are late due to the lower IQ students cutting the lines. They false evacuate students into the cold and fail to release those that are supposed to leave the school at 1:49 due to a 7th period off block. I debated calling the school multiple times when hearing about their inadequate management of students but instead I thought itÂ’d be more productive to spread the word to parents and children who might plan to attend this school.

I graduated from Santa Fe and wouldn't choose anywhere else for my daughter also. My daughter does well in Santa Fe. We love it! It's a small town with lots of friendly people. No school is perfect it is a little overcrowded but the teachers and staff are super friendly. I recommend this school out of everywhere else.

My husband and I graduated from Santa Fe High in 2000. We both went on obtain a masters and doctorate degree. The students for the most part are nice at SFISD. The city is sterotyped as a bunch of "red necks" but there are a lot of good people in Santa Fe. I would not live anywhere else and believe me I have lived a lot of places. My children attend SFISD elementary and we like the school. I just want people to know SFHS does not always get the credit it deserves. Several of my friends who attended SFISD are now a Dentist, Physical Therapist, Pharmacist, Veterinarians, Teachers, etc. SFISD produces educated people! My only suggestion is I wish the school would put more money into their Career Technology program for seniors. The kids need more vocational certifications so they can go to work right after high school!
