My child had 15 years of dance experience yet was the only child that did not make the dance team. Glad we moved to another area where she is dance captain. Take your school and shove it.

As a recent alumni the only was I could describe this school was a mess. As many other reviews have stated the issues with the school lie ALMOST entirely with administration. Despite the change in administration, the instability of the school remained the same. The teacher/staff retention problems were near constant due to various nuanced reasons, but most notably the subpar treatment from administration (multiple teachers had either blatantly stated or strongly implied this throughout my time there; additionally as of this year the school has lost some of it's most tenured and quality staff.) If advanced classes are a priority to you it should be noted that we had a (subjectively) limited list of offered AP courses and most are not availible until 11th grade which limits opportunity for college credit. Besides a select few holy grail AP classes, much of my education consisted of "busy work" assignments that were more time consuming than educational. The lack of communication from administration to parents regarding almost every asset of school involvement was absurd and persisted for all 4 years. It is likely that if you need clear information about school events, finances, rules & regulations, etc. you will have to go out of your way to get it which caused a lot of frustration for both me as a student and my family. You would imagine that if you are paying over $15k a year for High School tuition that you would want better than this. I fully advocate for private education any day and am incredibly greatful to have been blessed with the opportunity, but in retrospect I would have chosen nearly any other SATX private school.

The highly effective (if used correctly) mod schedule is my one and only worthwhile compliment to this school.

I am an alumni from IWHS. I learned to appreciate it much more after I graduated. My daughter is a prospective student in a few years. There was unstable administration in the past, but Dr. Reyna has come in to turn that around. In volunteering at the institution recently, I am excited to see how Dr. Reyna is steering IWHS in the right direction. She has restructured administration and has a deep passion for this school. My daughter attends functions and games. All the current students include her and are extremely welcoming. She cannot wait to join the Sisterhood!!!

First and foremost, my disappointment lies with the administration of IWHS. Throughout my daughter's time at the school, I observed a consistent lack of transparency, accountability, and responsiveness from the administration. They have consistently failed to address important issues effectively, particularly the pervasive problem of bullying. Important issues have been met with indifference or a dismissive attitude. The administration's inability to effectively address concerns created an unhealthy and unsafe environment for my daughter and, I believe, for the entire student body.

Our children's safety and emotional well-being should be paramount, but I have seen instances where this school has failed in this regard. Bullying and harassment have occurred, and the response from the school has been completely inadequate. This lack of action fosters a toxic student environment!

Again, I strongly caution parents about sending their daughters to IWHS. While every educational institution may face challenges, it is the duty of the administration to address them promptly and effectively. When a situation then becomes unsafe at the hands of the school's faculty it is absolutely unacceptable. This school repeatedly fell short and failed our children and ultimately jeopardized the well-being and academic success of its students.

I implore the administration of Incarnate Word High School to take these concerns seriously and make immediate and substantial improvements.

I strongly caution parents against sending their daughters to IWHS due to these significant concerns. Our daughters deserve a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment, which, in my experience, IWHS has failed to provide. The toll that bullying takes on a student's mental and emotional well-being, and the subsequent impact on the household, is a weight no parent should bear.

I hope this review serves as a call for positive change in the administration and as a warning to parents to carefully consider their choices when it comes to their daughters' education, with a focus on their safety and well-being. It is our duty as parents to prioritize our children's well-being and academic success, and I believe that IWHS drastically falls short of providing a safe environment for children.

Highly disappointed in this school. It should be run by nuns not the current leadership. There is no even distribution of race because everyone is Hispanic. What a waste of money to send our daughters here.

Lots of teacher turnover and the schedule is rather a mess. I don't think the girls use their time wisely; it seems a lot of time is wasted due to lots of movement and low supervision. Lots of busy work; academics are at level but not too challenging. Be sure to look carefully at this school and others to make sure it will work for your daughter. She will have to fend for herself for the most part.

Awful. Its the administration's disorganized way of running the school and constant problems with effective management of the school and interaction with parents and students. I am still considering transferring my daughter before the school year starts because I don't see it getting better.

The teachers and effectiveness of the homework is hit and miss. It seems like the really great teachers leave. Some stay but enough leave to notice.

The administration is flakey and the communication is terrible. The administrators act like they are doing the parents a favor by taking their call. They won't get back with you most times. If there is an issue you need them to address, forget it, they won't get back with you and take so long that things go from bad to worse.

IWHS is by far the biggest mistake I made for my daughter. There are a handful of teachers that are AMAZING yet there are many that are borderline abusive. Do not fall for the “Sisterhood” talk they want you to believe. Education was good but girls are not safe there. Bullying is far worse than many public schools and very well hidden by admin.
Don’t even get me started on the drugs....

A mixed bag - some very good teachers others highly unprofessional: significant teacher turnover. Only one poor overworked counselor: minimal college counseling. Non nurturing, high pressure environment. Significant number of girls with eating disorders (no school nurse). Not much funding for extracurricular activities except sports: expect limited options, poor communication and disorganization in extra curricular activities some of which exist in name only. Good choir but the student won't be able to participate in anything else because daily after school attendance is mandatory. If the school wants to improve they need to start listening to student and parent requests instead of blowing them off. ZERO opportunities to interact with boys from other schools. What school spirit? Cheer, dance, pep squad largely non existent in an ALL GIRL SCHOOL.The students RARELY get to do anything fun. Most of the boarding students have left because of the cold, boring environment. I agree that good students are harassed for the slightest things. Graduation exit surveys are largely negative: not a well rounded experience Is anyone in administration paying attention to morale? Does anyone care?

This school used to be great. But Unfortionatley, due to changes in the administration, the school has quickly deteriorated. A once fun, nourishing environment has turned into what will quickly resemble a jail. Might as well send your child to a public school. Not only will they have more options as far as classes, AP, and Duel Credit classes, they will not be put through this schools deteriorating spirit and environment.
