The 2015 posts appear to be from the school's marketing department. This school pales in comparison to its sister school, Incarnate Word HS, or to Central Catholic, Antonian, TMI, St. Mary's Hall, and San Antonio Christian.

Compared to other Catholic school in San Antonio and to itself in years past, this school has lower standards for admission. This is obviously to keep the doors open.

SERENE CAMPUS, POSITIVE TEACHERS WITH SUCH ZEAL , GREAT CHOICE, GREAT OPPURTUNITIES, WONDERFUL KIND FACULTY, WELCOMING Admirable STUDENTS, Athletic & JROTC opportunities ARE GREAT AS WELL. The list goes on and on..... she came from a very good school as well YWLA- I only have good things for this school as well. She came very well prepared Academically . We both wanted more and STA was the BEST Choice. We did seek other Catholic settings. We have transferred into (11th) this school and I took a leap in FAITH <>< My daughter is so HAPPY with St. Anthony Catholic High school. First, the Religion Teaching has just inspired her spirit so much more. We Love it !! GOD is Good

the teachers and counselors are great. to the comment about letting a baseball coach tell a player he sucked.. correction: he didn't tell the player he told the players brother (which is an adult) and attended every game and was constantly making remarks out loud in front of the players and other parents about how the coaches sucked and they didn't know what they were doing. over and over again since the beginning of the season.. you are right no respect was given to coaches by this students family as they were constantly making remarks out loud

I am an alumni of this school and I am aware of the concerns from the Aug & Oct 2013 posts. The HS was a seminary when opened in 1903 owned by the Oblate order, however they began to let those considering the priesthood in later. I was there the summer of 1995 when IWC (now UIW) bought out St A. Had they not the HS would have closed the summer of '96. The parents at the time were so discouraged by the administration's rules they began to play the lotto with the intend of buying the HS to keep it the way it was. Since UIW put their admins in place, the academics have improved, however the teachers cannot discipline the students since the admins will reverse punishment with the treat of a parent transferring their child. The football coach (whoever it ends up being) doesn't even have the authority to run the team properly. If a parent complains the coach is told to adhere to the parents wishes. The teachers are great people and role models, but they can only do so much due to the admins. This school found a way to be great for nearly 100 years, it can happen again if Dr. Agnese stops catering to the few that ruin it, and acts in the best interest of the many.

Let me first say that the teachers so far seem wonderful, caring and willing and wanting to make their students learn and be in an environment that broadens their education and be the best the students can be. With that being said, the administration does not seem to be too intune with their staff when it comes to communication within the school and parents/families. You seem to get the run around from the office staff with just basic questions that they can't simply answer or you get three different answers. We have seen many young men with no belts on their slacks, shirts untucked walking around with dirty shoes. Many of the young ladies dress blouses are not pressed and are sloppy looking. For this school being known as one of the "BEST" Catholic HS in San Antonio you would expect a lot more with how these students are handled and seeing that their needs are met becauase number one should be the student. I hope and pray that we did not make a terrible mistake putting our chidlren here. If the first week of school is any inidcation of how the rest of the school year will be...then we have really made a bad choice.

Outstanding school! My children have loved their time at SACHS. The teachers are fantastic and the academics are strong. There are many opportunities for the students to take advantage of like AP courses, college classes at The University of the Incarnate Word, numerous clubs and academic organizations. There is no doubt that the students are well-prepared for college when they graduate.
