My child was a student at this school last year. Had to withdraw him because of so much bulling. If student tells the teacher, the teacher actually tells the student to stop tattling and nothing is done about it. My child would cry because he didnt want to go anymore.
Administration was no help. They just looked the other way. Also feel that this school is very cliquish.
Also there arent any extra curricular activities for the kids; unless they are in sports.
Do NOT recommend this school.

We, too, recently left Concordia due to the administration. Concordia has cliques within the classroom, amongst parents & staff. Gossip, rumors and exclusion begins with the staff and trickles down to every aspect of the school environment. We were looking for an inclusive, loving, diverse, and robust Christian school experience and found this to be completely lacking at Concordia. One staff member stated a young child "doesn't have Jesus in her." Another staff member stated that another child was "disrespectful" for refusing to consent to being hugged and touched by this staff member. Another support teacher stated a child was disrespectful when he would answer with "Yes ma'am or No ma'am." Concordia advised that they do provide special education accommodations to "70 children" and will decline other children without explanation. The academics are stringent and inclusion and enrichment is, as described in other reviews, reserved for those in the popular crowd. Also, as mentioned in a recent review, there are no clubs or after school activities offered for elementary students outside of sports. Finally, please carefully review the demographics of the student body. In our experience, diversity & inclusion was nonexistent.

My child was a student at CLS. We had to move our child bit a different school due to bullying. When you let teachers and administrators know, they just look the other way and nothing is done.
Administration is horrible, its only their way or the highway.
Special education is non-existent. If your child needs extra help, they ask you to move to another school.

Very welcoming environment, teachers are great at communicating with parents and addressing concerns, curriculum is challenging but fun for the children.

Concordia Lutheran School has been such a blessing to our family. We are thankful all of our children have been able to receive such an excellent education form this wonderful school. The teachers, staff, and administration are amazing!

My two children received an excellent Christian education and went on to high school prepared for AP and Honors classes. The teachers and staff were always there for my children emotionally and academically. Extra curricular activities were diverse and met the needs for the passion of my two children. Communication was excellent from both teachers and administration. Community and safety is clearly a priority for this school. My husband and I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a rigorous Christian education.

My children have been at Concordia since pre-k. All have excelled academically and socially. They are taught by faith filled teachers who pour into my children daily. Administration is always responsive to any emails or questions I may have. Both church and school administration know children by their names and are extensively involved in the educational programming of each child. There are so many extra curricular activities and electives for my junior high student to choose from. I am excited that he gets to explore many areas of interest.

I love Concordia! I just had one of my three children graduate from Concordia. He went from the child care center all the way to 8th grade. We love all the teachers and administration staff. He wishes there was a high school so he could continue his education with his peers and be in a Christian education. Could we have a high school added?

Aging Principal & staff have not remained relevant in the education arena. Time for a refresh. No extracurricular activities offered outside of sports. If robotics, chess, choir, theater or art programs are interesting to your child, find a different school. They do push kids academically with a strong Religiously influenced "history" program. Complete lack of any personalized student/academic communication.

Concordia used to be an great school. A lot experienced teachers left after the previous principle retired and many of their positions have not been filled with competent certified teachers. The music and art programs have descended into nothingness, now lead by teachers that were pulled out of Concordias day care. The new principal severely lacks principle and caves to pressure from parents with big bank accounts or parents with enough free time to pressure her into changes that may benefit their child at the expense of the other students. During her tenure, the gift & talented (G&T) program that was once taught by a gifted & talented teacher was transferred to a former day care worker and turned into a private club for cool kids. In some cases, there are more kids in the G&T program per grade than kids not in the program. If you truly have that many G&T students, then your basic curriculum should match their talents and you wouldnt need a G&T program, but the change of the G&T teacher and the qualifications to be in G&T were pushed by a parent seeking to create a popularity club and this was done at the expense of truly G&T students who are no longer being challenged by the G&T program. The departure of so many teachers was solved by putting unqualified substitutes in the classrooms and when no one is available classes are shuffled to teachers on break, administrators (who dont want to be in the classrooms), or when no one was available, the students get an extra recess. Bullying is out of control, and while teachers and administrators know there is an issue, nothing is being done to curb the problem. The bullying isnt just between students, in some cases, parents and teachers engage in the behavior. There is a disconnect between the religious teachings and the reality of student life which is a sad state of affairs. Much like the G&T program, the Parent Teacher League (PTL) has become a club for popular moms. You arent given the opportunity to join PTL if you arent part of the in crowd despite qualifications that would benefit the school. As a result, PTL has become an ineffective waste of time. Its truly sad how far from greatness this school has fallen in just a short time. When you decide to voice your concern, or transfer to another school, you are automatically ostracized by both the school and other parents, who learn about your decision from someone in the office that knows all your business and doesnt value your privacy.

My grandkids go to Concordia School and are getting a good education that can be coupled with God's word. They have been enrolled there since 2012 - their parents have had no regrets!

We have two girls at Concordia, and have had experience at other schools prior to sending our oldest to Kindergarten. Concordia is just the best! The teachers are so kind and love our kids, have the utmost patience, and make sure to meet each child where they are academically. They push my daughter to challenge herself, but also reassure her when she wants to do things perfectly, which is exactly what she needs. My youngest has gone to Tiny Tots and loved her days there, and is very excited to begin Pre-K. The community is inclusive and involved, which really makes the bonds of classmates so much stronger. We have enjoyed the three years we have been going to Concordia so much!

I've had my daughter at this school since she was in Pre-K (currently in 6th grade) and have never had any real issues with the school. The teachers she has had have been great and really look out for her and she has thrived there, performing really well. There is an abundance of extra curricular activities, especially for a private school of this size which I really like. The only criticism I can levy is that sometimes there is an over reliance on email to communicate with parents, so you have to make a point of checking your email regularly to stay up to date. Overall my daughter has had a great experience there and I intend to have her stay through 8th grade (the highest grade they offer).

We had a bad experience at this school. They need to work on their communication with parents. Once I asked my daughter's teacher about her homework and her reply was that I didn't have to worry about it because my child already knew what she was supposed to do. I understand homework is for students to complete and it was not my intent to do it for my child but I wanted to understand what the work was. I felt teacher's response was very rude.

Our daughter has been a student at this school for 2 years and it has been an exceptional experience for her. If you tell you will be off from school she becomes disappointed. Teachers and administration are effective at teaching and caring. Parents involvement is highly important because of many school opportunities and home work.

This school has been hands down the BEST experience we have ever had for our two daughters (3rd and Kinder) and son (Child Care Center). We have moved quite a bit and have much to compare. Concordia School and Concordia Child Care Center have both been a spiritual and academic blessing to our children. When your kids come home and quote scripture and generally shine Gods light, you know it's well worth sacrifice of putting them at Concordia. Everyone from the teachers, front office, and even the pastors of the Church are just such a pleasure and pour their lives into the school and children. The facilities are amazing and the support the school receives from the church is like nothing you'll see in most other Christian based private schools. We moved over the Christmas break to Austin and Concordia remains our fondest memory of our time in San Antonio. - The Applebaum Family

Our daughter (8y/o, 3rd grade) came to Concordia this year after her other Lutheran school closed. She was very unhappy about the previous school closing. When she saw her new school, Concordia, and met the faculty, toured the grounds, etc. she was thrilled!! The campus and facilities there are absolutely beautiful and state of the art. Smart boards in the classrooms (don't feel bad, I didn't know what they were either - Google them) the rooms, hallways and bathrooms are spotless, acres of sports fields, etc. The classes are not for slackers. Our daughter has had homework from day one with no end in sight. It does challenge the students but she is rising to the challenge and doing very well. She is involved in sports and developing all kinds of new interests, academic and otherwise. We began attending church there last January as a family and couldn't be happier with the pastor and the services. It is an open, friendly community that fully supports the school and the church continues to grow. This has been and continues to be a great and valuable experience for the whole family. We love it here!!
