Horrible The Principal Picks And Chooses. My Child Missed Out On His Whole 5th Grade Year No Picture, No Field Trips, He Did Not Even Get To Perform In One Choir Concert Because They Never Gave Him A Chance Just Sent Him To Alternative School. Kids Are Kids Let Them Be Kids Engage With Them Dont Point Them Out And Put A Label On Them. It Take A Village To Raise One Child.

Transferred my kindergartner here from Katy, Texas and didn't know what to expect due to the reviews I'd read. The staff and teachers have been fantastic! My daughter has picked up reading, writing and math in ways I wasn't expecting and comes home happy every single day. I am so excited to have both of my girls settled at Southwest Elementary through 5th grade. I know they'll be cared for and truly guided in this school.

I love Southwest! Our 2 years there have been fabulous! All of the staff is amazing, clearly putting the children first. My child has always loved going to school, he has always felt safe and loved. Keep up the GREAT work Southwest!

The building may not be the newest, but the staff is great! Ms. Atmar (principal) and Ms. Cox (Assistant principal) changed this school for the better once they took over.... Ms. Ruiz (sectretary) is always friendly and gets stuff done. We were recently rezoned for a different school, but I am keeping my kids at SW!!!! Ms. Fritz is one of the best teachers I know. Ms. Higgs is wonderful. I appreciate that parental efforts with being involved are rewarded with positive and frequent communication with the teachers. Ms. DeLaRosa has such a wonderful way with the kids.... Love her teaching style! Ms. Phillips was very pleasant to speak to as well. The PE coaches are great too. I welcome different programs this school offers, honor choir, art club, little dribblers, soccer team, board game club, UIL.... Teachers and staff are so encouraging their students to identify their talents and try new things out.... Ms. Macklin, Ms. Marquez, Coach Parker and Coach Blackler .... Thumbs up for them too! SW Elem makes learning fun, my kids love going to school and that's so important!

I absolutely love Southwest! My kids and I are Really going to miss the school and staff this coming year. Both of my sons grew so much fundamentally and educationally at Southwest. Ms.Higgs and Mrs.Cooper are So AMAZING at what they do and bringing out the potential that my children have in ways they can understand and apply.I know that my two sons will have memories to last a lifetime fr Southwest! Even the secretary Mrs.Ruiz was such a joy to work with as well. I recommend Southwest to anyone and everyone!

There is a major problem with bullying at this school. When students get bullied and the bullying is brought to the attention of the administrators they simply say that there is not much they can do until they person who is doing the bullying physically do something. With a zero tollerance this does not have much zero tollerance. When issues began to be more than at school level it was brought to the attention of the Belton Police department where them too were unhelpful. We are living in a day and age where we need to take every act of violence serious no matter how small. I refer to the shooting in schools to where people who were bullied just ended up having enough. Luckly this hasn't happened to my child, but knowing families that it has happened to. The administration does not put the safety of the children in high regards and some teachers appear as if it is just a paycheck for them and really should not be teaching the children of tomorrow. I will say in spite of this that they seem to have a new age look on teaching with giving the children all Ipads, the problem is though it also gives access for kids to start cyberbullying, which the schools don't have any policy about.

Southwest is a great school! Childrens' needs lead the staff in all decisions made. This school has a very diversified culture and is welcoming to all. Every one of my children is different and they meet the needs of them. If I ever move, I wish I could take the school with me.

This is a wonderful school. The staff is great. My daughter goes to school here and she loves it. Since I don't discriminate like some people. I have no problem with the location. If you have an issue than the school is not for you, but I think the academics are wonderful. My daughter is learning a lot. She is a straight A student.

This school is horrible. I would not suggest this school to anyone who cares about their child and/or child's education. There doesn't seem to be any challenge academically, some of the staff we've encountered don't seem to actually care for the welfare of children and the school is located in a government housing division.
