It is the premier elementary school in the county.

Homework is predictable and meaningful. My son had accommodations for the second half of the year. The school really cares how my child is doing at school and at home.

This is an amazing school. My wife is a former elementary school teacher so schools were important when we moved here. Lakewood is by far the best school we have encountered and our kids have excelled in their achievements. The individual attention is second to none.

We moved here from Phoenix and we really struggled trying to find the right school. We found Lakewood, and we couldn't be happier. My son is now in 1st grade and both of his teachers (K and 1) have been amazing. My daughter is in 4th and her teachers have also been very engaged and responsive. I love how the older elementary grades usually split their time between two teachers, as it gives the kids a chance to move around and prepares them better for middle school. PE is great - the kids learn many varied activities (from volleyball to yes - cup-stacking) and the PE teacher makes PE FUN!

The only negatives about this school are that class sizes are too large (although they are the same as other public schools in the area, they are much too big - especially in the younger grades) and there's no art teacher - just music.

We moved from Savannah GA to TX. Last year in GA my son struggled with a very strict teacher, so when i moved to TX i requested a nurturing teacher. Well, my son is a straight A student in 2nd grade, and he has had the best teacher my kids have ever had. She is phenomenal, sweet, and caring. The staff is superb, and very courteous. My son ended up finishing 2nd grade at a 4th grade level.

When we found out we were moving to Belton we needed to find a school district and elementary school that was a great ranked district and school. Our girls have gone to a school that was ranked 9/10 and we wanted to keep that kind of education. We moved to the Lakewood elementary school area. We are very blessed to be at this school. The school, principal, staff and teachers are very loving and very hands on with all of thier students. My girls were blessed to have Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Easterwood as thier teacher for the short time they were there. This year my girls have Ms. Taylor and Mrs. Palomino both equally great teachers. My youngest has some learning disabilities and am so greatful to have Mrs. Palomino. She keeps her on her toes and keeps her thinking as well as Mrs. Williams in the Resource Center....oh, and the lady who reviewed the cup stacking in PE...my kids havent experienced it yet, but physical education has a lot of elements to it...don't judge until you know the background, etc....I suggest volunteering and sitting in on the PE classes so you can get a feel of what goes on. Lakewood rocks. So happy we are here!

Cup Stacking for Physical Education...seriously? Sadly, this is probably the best school in the area compared to KISD. Middle school gets better.

Great Elementary School. The teachers and staff are very caring and my kids love it. It seems to be very well organized and the teachers are very accessible. The PTA and the parents are very active in the school. The only area's I see for improvement is the GT program seems disorganized and the "projects" assigned to the kids don't receive adequate direction and have even been abandoned half way through. It seems like a back burner thing with no attention or time given to it. Also, not loving the lunch meals. All these new regulations have come out for healthier meals, but the kids are still getting prepackaged high salt chemical laden processed products, not real food. (I expect that is true for most schools)

This is a great school with great teachers and in a wonderful area. I suggest this school to anyone.

We could not be happier with Lakewood. My son's first grade teacher was sweet, kind and creative. My son got in the car numerous times talking about the day's neat science experiments or PE game. He always had something fun to tell about his day. Lakewood is such a warm and inviting place for kids as well as parents. Drop off line was always rocking with music and kind kids opening car doors with smiling faces. The lunchroom was filled with quiet children chattering and it always felt so welcoming. At past schools adults would yell at students for talking, but from my experience at lunchtime it was such a peaceful place. My second son went to kinder round up and it was above and beyond. They did an art activity, played on the playground, and even had snack time, all to get them ready for kinder and ease their anxiety. We are so lucky to be a LW and can't wait to start the new year. Thank you to all the teachers and staff that make LW such a special place to send our kids. We can't thank you enough for all you do.

My twins are preparing to start 1st grade at Lakewood. Kindergarten was fantastic....full of nurturing, fun, learning, socialization and opportunity. The music, PE & Library teachers are wonderful! Their teacher was precious....she taught them with love, kindness, & high expectations. The office staff & administration was responsive, involved, friendly & welcoming. Miss Shipp was particularly kind to my children. Lakewood provides an outstanding learning environment where children truly feel valued & loved. Teachers, principals, lunch room ladies, office staff & paraprofessionals smile & hug the kids was a daily sight. We love Lakewood!

Both our sons attend Lakewood Elementary (K and 3rd). This is our 4th year at Lakewood and we still are impressed by the quality of each teacher we meet and how they as well as the staff cares about each student. Fun programs and events involving many parents make this school truly stand out as a community school. When we tell people where our sons go to school, they always say: "I hear Lakewood is a great school", even the parents who have their children enrolled in private schools.....they are right. You and your child cannot go wrong at Lakewood. Very satisfied Parents.
