I love the school. My three children have gone there and have loved it. My oldest was able to graduate with many duel credit hours and tools that are helping her succeed in college. My son will be graduating this year from FBA.

I have taught at this school for more than 20 years and have found it to be an authentic Christian school that teaches the students about God's Word and how much He loves them and wants them to follow Him throughout their lives. The curriculum is challenging and above grade level, but accommodations can be made if a student requires that.

I LOVE FIRST BAPTIST ACADEMY! My son has been a part of the FBA family since he was 4 years old. He is now in high school and doing great. The teachers have a heart for Christ, and a passion for teaching. He has been blessed for many years with some amazing teacher. They help him when he is struggling, and they challenge him to always live up to his potential. I love seeing the young man that he is becoming, and I know that FBA is responsible for much of his success. Under the new administration the last few years, I have seen FBA grow and improve, and we are excited to be a part of it.

A new Administrator took over a few years ago and has breathed a new life back into the school. She is caring, and really listens to the students and the parents when they have a concern. She is genuine, real, and loves the Lord! The new Principal this year has also been a great change in the right direction. He is actively involved in the classrooms, and building relationships with the students.

My son struggles at times due to his learning challenges. The new administration has a heart for students with special gifts. He has been able to have accommodations to help him succeed and be his best. The teachers take the time to check on him, and make sure he has what he needs.

Some are true educators but some are not. The most effective ones teach in the lower grades. The school used to have an excellent and varied faculty. However, in 2014 and 2015, there were 17 faculty members/staff who left due to issues with the administration and curriculum weaknesses which dramatically affected the high school.

A child can develop strong character if they dont look to immolate the character of the administrators and some of the teachers. Some teachers truly have strong character and compassion. Those teachers, I feel, are the only thing that keeps students at this school.

The school used to have an excellent administration. However, in 2012, the administration leadership changed which tarnished the reputation and quality of the school. It was at that time that I feel the administration became self-serving, fake, and unethical.

I was not impressed with this school and could immediately tell that my son's teacher was not qualified to fulfill her duties. She had the entirely too much structure, the curriculum mush be given to the staff, but no personality, more like a house cat.

FBA is a true college prep school, where students will not only be prepared academically, but spiritually as well. My son is in moving through college after having graduated from FBA with a 4.0, thanks to the study skills that he acquired through this great school.

We moved from public school to FBA when one child was in elementary and the other in middle school. Since that time, our oldest has graduated and moved on to college and our youngest is in high school. FBA more then prepared my child for college, and due to the dual credit program offered, my child has is actually a few year ahead in their degree program. FBA has small classes, allowing for increased individual attention for the students, challenging curriculum and amazing teachers who are greatly invested in seeing the students succeed not just at FBA, but in life. We are so thankful for finding this little gem of a school for our family.

My grandson is about to start his third year at FBA, as a first grader. He loves his school and all his teachers. The teachers and administration truly love the kids. The music teacher is incredible. I don't think there is another school anywhere around us that is better suited to provide the academics or Bible teaching.

I was referred to First Baptist Academy for the preschool. I developed friendships and started attending the Church. While funds were tight, I could see that I was being led to put my child in a school where the character and the bible would be priority. My child can make straight A's anywhere but not anywhere can help me develop my child spiritually. My whole family has been blessed by this school.

Best music program around with choir teacher receiving TAPPS Fine Arts Teacher of the Year and Choir State Champs 7 years in s row! Graduates attending & excelling at Abilene Christian, A&M, Baylor, Mary Hardin Baylor, Tx State, Tx Tech, Univ of Tx....just to name a few! Two of my grandchildren have attended FBA for the last four years and I have always seen a very positive environment for them. The teachers and staff always have a smile on their faces. They are courteous, friendly and helpful. That just shows me they are all working in a very joyous work place.

I love that my kids are learning the facts of the Bible and the heart off the Bible. I love the small and safe environment. Teachers really care for my children here. I have a sophomore, freshman and a seventh grader. High school has turned out to be exceptional , next year my daughter will be able to participate in duel credit. What a great use of her time.

My children and I have been at First Baptist Academy for 9 years. The faculty and staff not only care for their academic achievements but their spiritual growth as well. The small setting has allowed my children to build lifelong friendships and to be involved in a multitude of extracurricular activities. Of course, if you ask a teenager, no school is perfect. But, I have complete confidence that my children are being provided with the best Christian education available.

The staff at FBA have a bond of Christian brotherhood/sisterhood that uplift one another in daily prayer for each other and the students that they teach . They integrate Biblical views into our every day world situations and give students the scriptural tools to help them stand firm in their convictions and to be a beacon or a light for people who are unfamiliar with the person of Jesus Christ.

My children have been at FBA for 5 years. Public school was not and is not an option for our family. We love FBA, the teachers, administration, children, etc. My children have blossomed in their spirituality as well as academically. But the number one reason we fell in love with FBA is the no nonsense bullying standard. I never have to worry about my kids being bullied and the few times where there was an issue it was addressed immediately. I would highly recommend FBA as a great alternative to public schools in the area.

Both of my sons attended FBA. My youngest son was able to start at FBA in Kindergarten and graduate from high school there. My oldest son went through 8th grade, which was before FBA had a high school. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of their education and the multitude of extracurricular activities in which they were able to participate. Because of the size of the school, students are able to participate in Fine Arts, like band or choir, and a variety of sports. They both are fine, Christian young men now, and I thank FBA for partnering with us in molding and shaping them.

My children started in the Preschool and I saw the love and structure they were shown. It gave me a peace of mind being away from them. They continued into elementary and I know they are being provided a great education with the morals and values we have at home. Although it our responsibility as their parents to help build their character, I know I have the support from the school too.

FBA used to be a good school. Since the new administration has taken over (4.5 years ago), it has really changed. Although it is touted as a college prep school, it's really not. The guidance counselor explained that if a student goes on to college, the school has prepared him/her. Therefore, in the school's eyes, it is college prep. I had never heard that definition before! There is a twisted emphasis on indoctrination, and the administrator and some teachers hold and teach beliefs that are not orthodox to protestant Christianity (ex. epilepsy is actually demon possession; having the Bible physically laying open can actually ward off evil). The academics are sub-par; our children, who were A & B students - are now struggling in their new schools because of the lack of good teaching. Last year many teachers left. Apparently, the school and church just give the excuse that the teachers and families that have left are just disgruntled, as if to discount those people's experiences. When you have a large percentage of staff leave, and families, there's something to it.

The math teacher was unable to explain some Algebra II problems during a study session. She's the only math teacher in the high school. There is hardly any teacher development, and many teachers do not change their methods/lessons from year to year.

FBA is not a perfect school - quiet simply there isn't a perfect school in existence, but FBA is a great school. Despite the few negative comments on this web-site, all of which are from disgruntled parents, FBA makes every effort to train and educate children in a positive and nurturing Christian environment. I have personally observed the staff and especially the administration bend over backwards to resolve/deal with issues bottom line, youve heard it before you can please some of the people some of the time but you cant please all of the people all the time there simply was no pleasing these disgruntled parents and FBA is all the better without them. I encourage you to take a look for yourself and judge the spirit of the administration, staff, and teachers you wont find a more loving and caring environment in the San Antonio area.

FBA is a very poor high school! Although some of the programs are very good - the social studies, English, and music programs are really good - the rest of the academics are sub par. The administration is exceedingly legalistic and rigid. And the school-year is interrupted by any number of disruptions, from athletic and music programs to various retreats and other spiritual emphasis nonsense. What makes the Biblical stuff especially ineffective is the poor way it is modeled by the administration. Kids report that they are routinely pumped for information about classmates or even teachers. I did want my kids exposed to Biblical teachings and application, but not like this or at the expense of school work. We have had it with FBA. The end of this school year won t come too soon.

My daughter is in pre k 3. She comes home full of excitement telling me all about every day. I hear it all, Bible verses, songs, activities, math, library, Jesus stories and of course all about her friends. I've met lots of parents from all the events and birthday parties. The only thing I dislike is transportation. The school busses are for sports and field trips only. My child's happiness and how she is learning and growing in our church makes it all worth it.

This school is simply not equipped (whether due to unwillingness or inability) to nurture and develop advanced learners. As other posters have accurately noted, it's the school's way and nothing else. But this school's rigidity and refusal even to attempt to accommodate children who need more of a challenge is unacceptable, particularly when parents are paying tuition. The school changed its curriculum recently; it is no longer advanced, and my child would actually have been behind public schools had we not worked over the summer to catch up. Concerning the environment, we do not believe in yelling at or otherwise morally demeaning our child, but this is the accepted culture of this school. Thankfully, we "escaped" FBA and are now seeing our child bloom. Our new school has helped foster the rehabilitation (both academically and with respect to his self-esteem) necessary after the damage caused by our stint at FBA. Oh-but they have a new gym.

This is my child's first year attending FBA and I am completely satisfied. The small classroom size and the faith base was our prority. Yes there is fundraising but it is not mandatory. I know because we didn't do it. Sometimes you can sometimes you cant. The tuition is very affordable and seeing the change in my young child is worth every penny. I am very satisfied that we decided FBA over public school.

Looking for schools can really be a task for a parent, therefore I wanted to share some info with you because I did my homework when we moved here. First Baptist Academy in Universal City is an exceptional Academy and compared to surrounding Christian Academy's their tuition is affordable! They offer K3-12 grade and was a perfect fit for our family. Not only do they provide an excellent academic program, they teach our children how to grow their faith and character development. I am so pleased with all of the staff and teachers at the academy and how they assist me with any and everything I need. Their warm sweet spirit is evident every time I am up at the school and I can see the reflection of this attitude being taught to the students. I love to have lunch with my daughter and see her interact with her friends. She is growing academically and spiritually and I couldn't be more pleased with a school.....and excited about the NEW Gym being built -- can't wait to watch all the FBA Sports Events!

Most of the teachers are nice and care very much about the children (especially K-6); however, some HS teachers are poor and/or overly harsh. Very poor administration. Parents as well as children must absolutely obey and support everything they say . Be careful if you feel the need to challenge these people. It is a VERY rigid 'their way or the highway' environment. Granted, they will listen to your problem, complaint or suggestion. But then they will tell you how you need to submit to their authority over your child and do exactly as they say. Limited academics, they simply do not have the funding to properly educate an advanced student in the science or computer fields. My 4.0 GPA child didn't feel well prepared for college. Christian environment overall. You just have to realize what you are giving up.

My daughter is in the High School and has been there since 1st grade with the exception of 3rd grade when we thought we would save some money and send her to a charter school (big mistake!). We have loved the teachers and staff. We have also had our son who is second grade enrolled since pre-k. They will always stay there as long as we are here.

First Baptist Academy is a school not only committed to excellance in education, they care about the student. You have the feeling of being apart of their family. I have never been a part of a school that cares so much about building relationships between teacher and students. It is so easy to communitate with the teachers, and they sincerely want to assist you with whatever your needs may be. The administrator is always available to speak with and is always out in the hallways greeting the children and making them feel comfortable to speak to her anytime. This school is truly excellent and you won't find a better leadership team anywhere else.

My granddaughter attends First Baptist Academy. She started at this school when she was only 4 years old and I am certain that this school shaped her character and grew her faith into the young 17 year old girl she is today. The education and christian environment is a true blessing. Children are the future hope of our great nation and I am thankful that First Baptist Acadmey is helping educate and instill values and character in our young generation.

FBA is an excellent school that we've been very pleased with since our daughter started 3 years ago in their K3 program. The teachers and staff have high expectations for the children and do everything they can to set them up for success. The administrator is the kind of person who stops you in the hall to ask how your doing and to give Godly council. I really appreciate leadership that sees a problem in academics and does an about-face to correct it. This year the school switched their reading/phonics program for preK-2nd grade when they noticed problems with the older students. So far it's been a successful switch. At halfway through Kindergarten the kids have started writing in cursive. They started reading a year ago (halfway into K4). In our 3 years at the school I've only known of 1 preK student being dismissed. The issues were addressed many times and finally 1 day before Christmas break last year he bit another student. He was already on his last chance. In my experience FBA diligently works with both parents and students to solve problems unfortunately they couldn't help him. My one regret with being a military family is knowing we will one day leave FBA behind.
