Staff and administration openly discriminate against kids that are neurodivergent whether its autism or ADHD beware do not sign your child up if they are neurodivergent!!!

Wish we had heard the feedback from other families prior to enrolling. Our experience was disappointing. In our view, bullying was a problem that was never properly addressed, which is ultimately why we left.
Facilities are lacking, and there is no cafeteria despite frequent fundraising. Academically, the environment could use improvement in providing better support. When I brought lunch to a student, I witnessed some students outside the classroom who were struggling with the work while the others moved on inside. I wouldnt have expected that. The homework load is excessive we spent hours helping with it at night.
Based on our overall experience the stress we dealt with, the bullying, and the lack of accountability we strongly urge parents to do their research about this school. The administration requires families to pay full tuition even if, in your experience, the school is not providing a safe or supportive environment and youre forced to withdraw. Make sure you fully look into how they handle grievances by talking with other parents who have left.
In our opinion, there are much better private school options that are more concerned with students growth, safety, and well-being rather than their profits.

My daughter was a student at Bracken for K4-1st. The teachers taught well, were caring and kind. They were open to understanding my daughter's unique needs and were helpful. It is a family like environment. They are growing and always moving towards improvement. I am thankful God brought us to this school for this time.

Our family loves having the option at Bracken to place our child in a traditional, five-day-a-week program or to experience the hybrid campus/homeschool option of the STREAM Program. At this age and stage, our child is flourishing in the STREAM Program which allows us (as parents) to be intimately involved in her education while relying on Bracken teachers and administration to provide the curriculum (by way of detailed lesson plans) and academic support/accountability while cultivating a culture of curiosity in the classroom and at home. This alternative model also gives our daughter the flexibility she needs to pursue other interests such as competitive tennis, piano, and horseback riding without the stress of being overscheduled. Bracken's STREAM Program provides the best of both worlds -- quality academics led by experienced classroom teachers and the opportunity for parents to pour into their children!

Bracken Christian School has been a cornerstone of our family for many years. Our children attended BCS from their earliest days in Kindergarten, all the way up through their senior year. The education they received was second to none, and the school's commitment to helping students grow in their faith was truly remarkable. The dedication of the teachers and staff to our children's success was evident every day, and their influence played a pivotal role in shaping our children into the thriving adults they are today. The impact that BCS had on our family is immeasurable, and we will always be grateful for the invaluable support and education we received from our Bracken family.

This is our second year at Bracken and we have enrolled for a third year. The staff is loving and caring and the teachers are very welcoming and open to communication. Security is great and the administration, while inconsistent, seems to have a great vision for the school and its future. We are grateful for a Christ centered community and the small class sizes to nurture our kids.

Do not listen to the negative reviews. There was a disgruntled parent that caused issues and is now having to pay for it. Their concerns are understandable but the way they were trying to solve these issues were the problem. Bracken has been nothing but a good safe place for my kids to learn and grow their relationship with God.

I was a student at this school for 7 years, all of my elementary years and left just after 7th grade. My family are devout christians, and youd think sending me to a christian school would help form my belief. This school traumatized me in my formative years, I was relentlessly bullied with nothing done for it, constantly told to simply ignore it. I lost my faith in God as I realized very quickly that he did not care what his followers did in his name.
What is worse is that I was not only bullied by students, physically and your usual fat-shaming and mocking, but one teacher also took her turn in cruelty. Even when her actions were brought to the administration nothing was done, and I discovered that when I left she had been promoted to principal.
I would never recommend this school to anyone who cares for their childs values to be kept. This school does not care about anyone who does not keep their happy, smart, athletic, devout, conservative, face if you are different you must be hidden.

Our administration, board and teachers show us they care in a variety of ways. They ask for input, hold unique school events to love on the kids, families and staff. We have a senior this year and the amount of love, appreciation, and honor they receive here is outstanding! My senior is sad to leave after graduation. The school has a 5-day program and a university model program. You can choose which is the best fit for your family. The academic and sport choices here are wonderful! We are thankful to have found Bracken.

We have been blessed to have our 2 children attend Bracken since their kindergarten years. One of our children has ADHD and has difficulty to stay engaged in class, yet his teachers find a loving way. It warms our hearts to see the love of God being poured into the students by the teachers. We see that love flow back out their little mouths in singing praise to the Lord and their sweet loving actions to their friend classmates. In the troublesome world we live in, I can take comfort that may children's faith will remain strong at Bracken. We have had some difficult times over the years, the teachers and staff have been wonderfully supportive. Thank you Bracken Family!

Yes, we were one of those families that left. Not a good "christian" experience for our kid. Caution: dont send your kids here. I received a letter just this past December from the schools administrators and board, asking for more money yet again, because they did not have enough to pay their teachers. They never have enough because the people running that school are awful leaders. I was told the school has been dying for decades, but we tried anyway. We're going to try either home school or another in the area like Gloria Deo or Living Rock.

Awful school. Had two kids there recently. The nepotism is so bad. Rundown school, with gross facilities, yet always having to raise money because so many keep leaving. We probably know a dozen families that tried it and left in 1 year. A very legalistic school. Many teachers without credentials. Dont send your kids here.

My 5 sisters and I attended bracken for over a decade. This school used to be a wonderful, tight knit community but has since gone downhill due to poor superintendent personnel. I am deeply saddened with the direction this school has gone and will be enrolling my children at Living Rock Academy which is not only being run by a fellow original Bracken family member but upholds the Christian and moral values that I once enjoyed at Bracken. I pray that the current leaders of Bracken will one day look past the size of their bank accounts and see how far they have truly fallen as a community.

We are proud to have both our children there for their elementary years of education. The teachers are actively concerned for our students development- heart- mind- body - spirit. Our girls participated in after school Art- chess- sewing - choir and several sports- we were excited to find they offered such activities for early grades as well! Teaching academics - self discipline and respect for others is a high priority on both the Upper campus (Middle school & High School) and Elementary (K4 - 5th grades.) The leadership is approachable and willing to take suggestions. Thankful and blessed to have a hidden GEM right here in our neighborhood.

We love Bracken Christian School. This is our 5th year here and it has been a wonderful blessing in the lives of our kids. Some things that I really like are the small class sizes, experienced teachers, curriculum taught from a Christian worldview, and the wonderful relationships we've made with families who also attend. It really feels like a big extended family. I am so thankful for our school.

This school not only gives an outstanding education to students, but it also prepares them for what they will face in life on a spiritual level. The English teachers are especially good at what they do. Students can go to college knowing how to write well and what to expect when writing college papers.
The BCS administrative board is doing their best in a difficult situation. It is clear God is with them and has chosen them for this present time. It seems most of the people who are mad at the board are individuals who simply did not get their way. I pray Bracken comes together to further God's Kingdom as their motto of the year suggests.

Bracken Christian School offers everything we had hoped and prayed for in a private school. An excellent history of students excelling in academics, sports, electives, and biblical studies to prepare them for college and their future endeavors. They even offer a specialized science lab for those with medical field aspirations. Implementing technology-based education, daily devotionals with praise and worship music, and offering community leadership training and service opportunities are just some of the planned objectives and goals for the school. The teachers are truly focused on the individual needs of each student and genuinely care about the kids. If you desire a Kingdom-based education for your children you will love Bracken Christian School.

A blessed school. My child has attended for six years. We joyfully re enrolled for the upcoming school year. It is a financial sacrifice for a Godly environment that educates my child to impact his community for Christ, while preparing him academically.

I have seen many changes happening, in a positive way. My kids love Bracken and they are getting the education I expect them to receive in a Godly environment. It's unfortunate that those who are negative don't want to see the positive especially since it's our kids future we're investing in. God is a forgiving God and maybe forgiveness and healing can happen to those who have been affected by the leadership in time.

Sadly, Bracken is nothing like the school it used to be under the current leadership.
Posted: March 18, 2015
Sadly the drama at this school continues. The boards long term members refuse to address the problems choosing instead to demote the administrator to elementary principal and blame others. This schools board backs the wrongful termination of a man who did his best to model integrity while supporting a man, now elementary principal, who is the model of situational ethics. He will say and do whatever he needs to yet this is the man the board backs. The boards solution is to turn up the corner of the rug and sweep the truth under and hopes it all goes away. Until the elementary principal and the long term board members leave stay away from this school.

Sorry to say,but the parent that posted about the problems with Bracken has hit the nail on the head.Until the board does something to correct its mistake in hiring the current administrator,I'm afraid Bracken is in for even more difficult times.WE LOVE BRACKEN BUT...

I love the family atmosphere that embraces the students from pre-K through 12th grade. The big kids love on the little ones and the little ones love look up to and admire the big ones. The teachers go above and beyond to prepare the students for successful life both academically and spiritually. My daughter comes home from school every day a happy child which is priceless.

My oldest child graduated from Bracken in 2004 and I have two more that have been at Bracken since K-5, one in 10th grade and one in seventh. I wouldn't have them anywhere else. The teachers are fantastic, the administration is incredible and the entire student body is one big Christian family who love and care about each other and the Lord. Compared to other private schools in San Antonio and surrounding areas tuition at Bracken is very reasonable. The cost is actually an incredible deal considering the type of honest, caring, responsible individuals that are developed at this school. Best school EVER!!!

I had a child graduate from Bracken last year that attended k-12. He always had excellent teachers and was well prepared for college. Many of his peers are now attending Texas A&M, The University of Texas, Baylor University, and other fine schools locally and nationwide. I have another child there now and am completely confident he is being prepared academically and spiritually to be a successful, productive citizen.

My oldest child is a Bracken Christian School alumni and was well prepared both academically and spiritually. This gives great comfort for my youngest child who is currently a high school student at BCS. Both my children are loved by their teachers, have positive relationships with the staff and students, are/were taught all subject matter from a Biblical perspective. The teachers are caring, qualified, know their subject matter, and are great spiritual mentors. I've seen this first hand in my oldest child's life while in college. I am blessed to know that my children are loved and prayed for by such a great group of teachers and staff. BCS has been such a blessing to our family.

We came to Bracken Christian School in 1998 and fell in love with the teachers and staff. Two of our three children have graduated from Bracken after attending K5-12th. Our third child is in highschool and has been here since K5 as well. We have been tremendously blessed by this school. My older kids were more than equipped for college and are doing very well. HIghly recommend that you consider Bracken.

The teachers at this school do not have adequate skills to be teaching. They do not know the subject matter and are relegated to just reading out of the text book since they cannot compehend the material. I saw no Christian leadership in the way the staff carried themselves. I actually see better Christian values at the local public school. If you are wanting the cache of saying yyour kids go to a private school with out any bennefit, from it or you like the status of paying a lot for school then this is the place for you. If you care about Christian values STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL!!!
