Summit has been a wonderful school for our daughter the past three years. I am surprised by the negative reviews, as our experiences are extremely positive and we are happy to recommend this school to anyone. The advanced classes are rigorous enough and manageable enough for our daughter to thrive and enjoy school. All the teachers she has had always have been caring, with hearts centered on Christ, and their attention to her understanding and success. This is a place that has helped mold our daughter and prepare her for more leadership and volunteer opportunities as well as helping her step into confidence in herself. We are grateful for the Christian worldview and the culture standards set by the administration.

Our experience with Summit Christian Academy was deeply disappointing and, unfortunately, harmful to our childs well-being. We enrolled our children with the hope of providing them a strong academic foundation grounded in Christian values such as compassion, grace, and support. Sadly, those values were not reflected in the schools actions, but specifically as it related to the current Headmaster in charge. Prior to his arrival, we did not have this same experience, but unfortunately his actions were the main reason we decided to remove our child from an environment led by this individual.

Over the most recent year at the school, our child faced ongoing challenges that were met not with understanding or support, but with dismissal, targeting and, at times, a lack of empathy from staff and leadership. Rather than working with us as partners to support our childs development, the administration often took a rigid and judgmental approach that left our child feeling isolated, unheard, and emotionally distressed.

We expected a nurturing environment where Christian principles were more than just words on paper, but instead lived out through kindness, patience, and humility. Instead, we witnessed a culture where certain students were favored, and othersespecially my son who struggledwas marginalized, labeled and ultimately attacked. This was not the Christ-like guidance we were promised.

Our childs confidence and mental health were negatively impacted during their time at Summit Christian Academy. We eventually made the decision to withdraw him for his own emotional and spiritual well-being. While no school is perfect, its crucial that institutions claiming to provide Christian education actually reflect those teachings in their daily practices and interactions.

We hope this review encourages thoughtful reflection and change within the school, so that no other child has to go through a similar experience.

This is a fantastic school. We have been there for about 4 years - I have one child in 3rd grade and one in kindergarten, currently - and our experience in each classroom has been lovely. The teachers are patient, caring and respectful and the my children's classmates are very sweet and inclusive. There are numerous events for parents and families throughout the year that I think really help everyone come together as a community. I'm so impressed with how much both of my children have learned in their time at Summit and I can't wait to see what the next grades bring.

We do not recommend this school. Lacks teachers. Too many times they say "if you don't like it you can leave" just because of a minor disagreement. Constantly saying "this is how Leander ISD does it." Why am I paying private school tuition just for them to follow LISD guidelines.
Nickel and dime you on everything. We're so glad we left. Many people have left especially in the high school grades.

This is a great school. Solid (but not over the top) culture that stresses good Christian values. Top notch staff who cares genuinely about the students. Wide variety of sports. Small class size. Good food. Great Theater, Art, and Choir programs. Wonderful annual retreat that the kids really enjoy. Our daughter transferred there last year from the public middle school system and loves it. Tuition is very reasonable and truly a bargain for all the upside the students enjoy. Very safe and a beautiful campus. Highly recommend it.

I'm really shocked to read the negative reviews. It's sad that this school would be characterized by these. We are not wealthy. We've had 3 students at Summit, one is graduating & a fourth begins next year. We've had experience in homeschooling and at another local Christian school. The teachers at Summit have, far and away, been amazing for my middle and high school students (no experience in elementary). One child (who had some academic struggles) was always able to go to teachers and get help any time it was needed. My children have been cared for in the classroom, on the sports field, and beyond. They've felt loved, nurtured, and included. The teachers go above and beyond to help students find their giftings and live a called life. The service projects help them grow and learn to love others. I'm glad we chose Summit after homeschooling. It was a gentle transition, and it's been life-changing for our kids who could thrive and learn in a Christian environment.

Here are some amazing things about Summit:
1) Solid math and science teachers have been helpful for my students. They know math and were prepared for ACT/SAT. It has become difficult to find good math teachers. This is a gift Summit offers.
2) Junior seminar. This class is gold if your child is heading to college. They will prepare the student of SAT/ACT (BOTH!), help them think through their giftings and strengths. They even help them write their essays for college admissions. I'm so grateful for this class. It made college applications so much easier (and my son was accepted at top Texas schools -including UT, A&M and Baylor)
3) Caring faculty. When any of my students have faced friendship or emotional challenges - the faculty and administration has cared for them, personally. They know their names and help them succeed--relationally and academically. They've led them in a Christ-focused way.
4) The theater program is fantastic. Theater director is very talented and every production is top notch. My child did not think theater was something he would pursue, but the confidence it has built in him has been tremendous.
5) Athletics: Unless you started playing the sport at 3 - you often don't get a chance to play in MS/HS. Not so at Summit. This has been a gift to all of my kids who have benefited from team sports and athletic conditioning.
6) Campus: They walk outside, there's even an outdoor classroom. So healthy for kids.

I've hit the word limit. Highly recommend.

There are not enough words to express how much we love being a part of the Summit family. Since moving my son here, I have seen him blossom in way I never knew possible! They way the administration using concern and intentionality in their decision making is above board. And the teachers.... Wow! My son is more loved, cared for, prayed over and EDUCATED than I could have ever dreamed. It has been the best decision we've ever made with regard to investing in my kid!

TW: racism and micro aggression

We enrolled our daughter in the summer camp as a trial for the August enrollment, but we were deeply disappointed and concerned by the discriminatory treatment we experienced as an Asian American family.

On Tuesday of the second week, our daughter contracted lice at the camp. We promptly notified the school and informed them that our daughter had observed other children experiencing itching symptoms. Since our other two children attend a different daycare and no one else in our family had lice, it was evident that the infestation originated from the camp. We took immediate action by treating our daughter and keeping her home the following day to prevent the spread of lice to other children.

The initial response from the school was to require clearance from a pediatrician before allowing our daughter to return, a requirement that was not imposed on other children. However, upon consulting our pediatrician, we were informed that such clearance was unnecessary. We relayed this information to the school, and they school finally relented.

In addition, the school deliberately chose not to inform other parents about the lice infestation, thereby denying them the opportunity to make informed decisions for their children's well-being.

We made multiple attempts to contact the school through phone calls, text messages, and emails to obtain updates on the situation. We sought clarification on the actions taken by the school and inquired if other children had been checked and removed from the class. Regrettably, our communication was met with silence. Despite assurances from the receptionist that we would receive a call back within the day, we never received any response. Eventually, the school sent an email stating that the information was confidential. Our primary concern was to understand the current situation so that we could make appropriate arrangements for our daughter the following school day. Instead of addressing our questions and concerns, the school chose to ignore us. It is unimaginable to entrust your child to a school where you are unable to establish contact for an entire day. Such disregard for communication and the mistreatment we encountered are wholly unacceptable.

The demographic makeup of predominantly white students and faculty, combined with the treatment we experienced, left us feeling dehumanized. If you're looking for diversity, morals, kindness and inclusivity, look elsewhere.

This is our second year at SCA and we love it. The teachers are wonderful. If my children are struggling and ask for help, the teachers go above and beyond to help. The administration are also wonderful. Anytime I see them, they are always smiling. They seem to know every students name which makes my kids feel special.
Kids are kids...most of them are sweet but you do encounter a few who are mean. My kiddos just walk away from the mean ones, although there aren't many.
My only regret is not coming to SCA earlier. We started in MS and Hs.

Assessment is usually given by worksheet packets. Students who struggle in certain areas will continue to struggle with little improvement. My child did poorly in certain subject areas all year with no communication to me as a parent. Little identification of problems and problem-solving to help your child perform well.

As a former student, I loved my experience at this school. They provide a real world financial education that taught me how to stay out of debt, invest in stocks and bonds, how to accumulate wealth, etc. This gave me a huge advantage over other kids that I went to college with that did not have a great knowledge of finance. It is also a tight knit community, and I am still close with a lot of friends I graduated with. Also, almost everybody from this school goes on to attend college.

Hardly. Children of large donors/benefactors are untouchables. They are treated with favoritism and are not disciplined for atrocious behavior. In some instances, they are rewarded for their mediocre academics. Whereas, other children are placed under extreme scrutiny and severely disciplined for even the smallest infraction. No balance in the application of discipline.

Our child attended this school from 4th grade to 6th and had a WONDERFUL experience. However, we withdrew to homeschool through middle school because of inconsistent application of the rules. It seemed that there was an inordinate amount of favoritism shown to the children of large donors/benefactors (who routinely violaed rules). We re-enrolled our child for Junior/Senior years and experienced the same issues. Our child had a one period (towards the end of school day) where they were allowed to assist the teacher. On one day, our child had to go to local community college to take assessment test and register for college-level classes. The administration was made aware of this in addition to us picking the child up and explaining the purpose of off-campus visit. Our child was penalized with an unexcused absence for that class. Thank goodness we no longer have to send our money or our child to this school again.

My daughter has sensory processing disorder. We discussed this problem with the school before we even applied. They assured us they would work with her. After we paid all the fees and she started school they kicked her out after 4 hours. Oh, did I mention she's only 4 years old? Now they won't refund the application fee, claiming they cannot do so because it was nonrefundable. Um, you lied to us when you said you would work with her. How does this represent the Christian faith? Also, don't try to actually talk to the principal if something is wrong- He will never call you and his office staff will only email you. They have now told me to never contact them again and turned the blame on me. They do not exemplify the Christian faith that I read about in the Bible!

This is a small tightknit school. I really like the missions, field trips and activities they participate in. However, there is an issue with the president of the school board who over reaches his duties and responsibilities. He has been known call individual teachers to berate, get rid of GOOD teachers he does not like, and influences the Headmaster in disciplinary decisions especially if it involving his own child. My experience is similar with another parent about favoring students and administering inconsistant diciplinary actions. Other parents I have spoken with mentioned occations of bullying. This is a good school but is being lead by individuals with alternative agendas. The focus should be on the kids, education and the christian way, not by personal agendas

Everyday when I drive onto the campus I am thankful that my son attends this school. It has been a wonderful experience for us. The campus is cozy and peaceful, the school offers high quality teachers, and the student body consists of a great group of kids with involved, caring parents. The school is also growing and I think that's because it has so much to offer. Last year my child's teacher had more than 30 years of experience. This year his teacher has a master's degree so, educationally, we have found the school to be excellent in all respects. Our son has enjoyed the elementary school experience and is thriving. Every family has to find the right fit in a school and we have found that in Summit.

My family and I had reasonable expectations and unfortunately, we were very disappointed. My children had both good experiences and bad, however, many of their complaints were the inconsistencies from some of the teachers; allowing the favored students to get away with things while others were held accountable. My personal experience was, sadly, a negative one. One of my concerns was the complete lack of standards regarding conflict of interest among employees and those in leadership roles, including PTF (parent teacher fellowship, much like PTO/PTA), school board, etc., which leaves concerned parents feeling that there isn't a safe place to air grievances, offer constructive criticism or suggest ideas that could potentially improve the environment of the school. My advice to someone considering Summit Christian Academy would be to PRAY about it, visit and research every Christian school in your area and take your time. For those of us seeking a Christian education for our children, it's fair to expect a certain level of support, kindness, and compassion, which we found lacking at this school.

Summit staff, teachers, and leadership partnered with us in helping our 3 young granddaughters. The advancements in education, social skills, health, as well as their knowledge, and understanding of the Bible Grew at levels we never dreamed possible. The safety security is very good too. They teachers poured themselves into teaching, and building trust, and Love for the children. It was, and is the greatest educational experience I've ever seen. Thanks Summit

We started our child at SCA Mother's Day out program at St Luke's Church last year. The teacher we had was so loving and amazing with our daughter. We were so impressed with the staff at MDO, we decided to enroll our daughter into Pre-K at Summit Christian Academy main campus. What a blessing! Definitely one of the best choices we could've ever made for our little girl! The staff and parents feel like our extended family. Our daughter is learning everything from The Bible to Spanish and classes in between that have put daighter excited to learn about other countries and cultures. She couldn't be any more excited and so are we! Highly recommended!

We started our daughter at Summit 3 years ago in Kindergarten. We choose Summit for the welcoming, family feel of the school. The teachers are great and really show that they care for our kids. They really do go the extra mile for their students. We would not hesitate recommending Summit to anyone.

My daughter started Summit Christian Academy in 2012 as an eighth grader. The school advertises that the teachers will pour into the children with Christ-like teaching and I can speak from experience that this is totally true. But daughter came in a hurt, scared girl, but the love that has been lavished on her from the teachers and staff has literally brightened her up. The teachers have been so caring and loving toward my daughter, they not only pray for her but they have fun in the classroom! In addition, they have spent so many extra hours tutoring her to get her caught up from being in public schools all her life. I truly appreciate my daughter being at Summit, I am so thankful that God lead me there.

My oldest child has attended Summit Christian Academy since Day 1. We sent her there so that she could go to a school that loved and worshiped God and made Him a priority in the child's education. We found that at Summit. The teachers love and care for the kids in a way that you know they cannot get in the public school because it is faith based teaching. They have learned to put God first in their lives and everything else falls into place. Now all three of my kids are at the school and they have all developed a love for missionary work through the teaching at school. They are all receiving a first rate education and will be prepared after graduation.

Summit Christian Academy has played a huge role in the man our son has become. He is graduating next month after being at Summit since first grade, and the benefits are immeasurable. It's a small school with big vision and gets better every year. My son has taken 2 Advanced Placement exams scoring high enough to receive college credit and will be taking 5 more next month. Very few Christian schools offer that number of AP courses not to mention the outstanding results. The best part of his education, however, has been the Bible teaching and missions emphasis. He has had 3 godly men who have taught our son not what to think but how to think...how to reason and come to a logical conclusion about the things that matter most. Additionally, he has been on six impact (mission) trips that have not only impacted those being served but have taught him how to serve as Jesus did. He just came back from the senior trip to Romania a different young man. He's considering missions and wants to return to Romania as soon as possible. I don't know how you put a price on that. We've made sacrifices to have him at Summit, but we believe those treasures are stored in heaven.

As a parent, I have always considered Christian/parochial schools to have many benefits for my child that she could not receive elsewhere. She has been to several private christian schools because we move a lot because my husband is military. The higher tuition is always a downside but when I consider the guidance, christian counseling, teacher involvement and dedication to her on a personal level, to me you can't put a price on that type of educational environment. When I came to Summit Christian, I too was skeptical of the tuition, but after experiencing first hand what makes them worth it, I have never and will never regret my decision. This school has been a blessing to my family.

This school is great if you kid has "favor" with his or her teachers. If not, then there's nothing they can do that will be good enough. They seem to care more about athetics than grades. That was the reason we left public school in the first place. This will be our last year here. We're moving our child to another school for next school year.

Overall the school has been okay. The only thing that seems to happen is they ask for alot of money and the school supplies we provided for the general fund was not for the students but for the teachers.
