One of the best parts of Houston Heights has to be Jana Williams. As the senior advisor she helps students pursue their academic goals whether that be community college or a 4 year university.

I would rate Houston Heights as one of the best schools in Houston, Texas. The staff is friendly and very motivating. Instead of the teachers motivating us to graduate, they encourage us to go off to college.

My daughter graduated from Huston Heights in 2007 and after graduating college she is a successful school counselor. All of these accomplishments wouldn't be possible without the foundation, dedicated teachers and college career readiness she received from her high school years.

I just graduated from this school and I have never cried so much about leaving my 'second family' This school is truly a family. Houston heights will take you in with there arms open and accept you for who you are. They give you a second chance when no one else has, they go the extra 10 miles to see you succeed, and graduate. I can honestly say that without them I would not of graduated. The teachers actually care for you, they not only care about your education, they also care about you personally and will help you in anyway possible. All the teachers know the students by name, and you not just another person, you are someone. Heights gives you the chance to grow and find yourself in a caring and non judgmental environment Every school has there pro's and con's and one con I can think is that this school has no sports teams ( we only have basketball) no big dances, no hype. But if we did have all of this the school family would come to an end as the school would get bigger. There is no better school then this one! I had a great time at the Heights and I don't regret going there! Big ups to all the staff you all amazing!! Do yourself a favor and go check out the school!

This school is not worthy to be open. They allow students to go off campus to park to smoke and do whatever they want. My granddaughter was there for two weeks and i took her out. Waste of taxpayers money. I cannot believe they allow it and no one supervises it.

This little school is a hidden gem in the Houston District. The staff are completely dedicated and most have worked in this school for many years, making it feel like a family. They are dedicated to the students and work very hard to ensure that each child reaches their full potential. The team leader is an outstanding head, who is excellent at remembering and following up on details. The school only has 250 children and the head remembers where my child sits during lunch and who she sits with. She takes my calls and sees to problems immediately. You can tell that she has been thinking through things because of the way she pulls my daughter aside regularly to offer new ideas, or just to check up on how she is doing. The open door policy in the school has made all the difference to my daughter. Both the head and the teachers have truly gone the extra mile to meet my child's needs and to help her jump through various hoops to get into the degree of her choice. Although the school is not without challenges, it is incredible to watch how each child is cared for and given the best opportunity to reach their full potential. I can't recommend this school highly enough.

High turnover rate for teachers. Low rate of teacher certification. Lack of administrative support. Lack of structure and low top-down expectations of students.

My daughter has spent her entire high school years at Houston Heights. I kept her there for those consecutive years due to being very satisfied. The office staff to classroom teachers confirms they really care as evident by taking time out to show that special interest toward their students. I'm truly grateful for this Charter school and pray that upcoming students could also reap the benefits of a small yet personable learning atmosphere. AS A PARENT I WOULD LIKE TO PERSONALLY THANK THE STAFF & TEACHERS FOR THE GREAT INTEREST THEY SHOWED MY SON DURING THE YEARS HE ATTENDED HHHS. ALTHOUGH HE DIDNT WANT TO ATTEND THIS SCHOOL I KNEW THIS IS WHERE HIS TALENT COULD SHINE. IT IS SMALL ENOUGH TO WHERE EVERYONE KNEW YOU BY NAME AND KNEW THE PARENTS. IT WAS ALSO PERCEIVED AS A PLACE THAT WOULD ALLOW TEENAGERS TO SPEAK THEIR MINDS AND SHOW PASSION IN THEIR BELIEFS WHILE GUIDING THEM TO THE WAYS OF THE WORLD. TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL AND MY SON IS GRADUATING, I FEEL THEY HAVE PREPARED HIM FOR COLLEGE. HE HAS BEEN ACCEPTED TO A LARGE UNIVERSITY AND I'M IMPRESED WITH THE FACT HE HAD NO QUESTION ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT HE WOULD GO TO COLLEGE. HE ASKED FOR HIS LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION AND TEACHERS WILLINGLY HELPED HIM GET THE APPLICATION PROCESS IN PLACE. THE TEACHERS ARE AMAZING; IF A CHILD SHOWS INTEREST THEY WILLINGLY HELP. THE SCHOOL SIGNED HIM UP FOR SUMMER COURSES AT HCCS EACH SUMMER. STUDENTS CAN OPENLY TALK WITH ADMINISTRATION, TEACHERS AND STAFF, EVERYONE HAS AN OPEN DOOR POLICY AND THEY CARE. THEY BELIEVE IN TUTORING AND NO HOME WORK, AN EXCELLENT COMBINATION!
