While the teachers are supportive to my kids, they still did not enjoy their time here. Lots of bullying on the playground that apparently is not a concern for the school. Virtual school during COVID has been hot or miss. One kid had a great experience in Kindergarten, the other one in 2nd grade had to endure over 4 hours of Zoom plus homework every day. We’ve been to other schools that are lower rated and in “bad” areas, and they had better experience there than at Pirtle.

They develop characteristics such as fear of authority, racism, and bullying. Do not send your child to this school.

The administration at this school embodies the epitome of bullying. If the administration bullies parents and students, how can you expect that your child will not either be bullied or become a bully at this school?

My child with ADHD was mistreated at this school. They are awful with children with disabilities--which should tell you something about who they are.

Awful. I thought this school had a lot of promise. We moved to the district excited to have our children in a school like Pirtle. We sure were wrong! We are leaving the district with a bad taste in our mouths and nausea in our stomachs. Best of luck to you if you don't heed this warnings.

My child loves Pirtle Elementary and my wife and I are happy with all aspects of the school and look forward to her and her younger sisters being there for years to come.

I have a child attending this school he is a special needs student. I’m very please that his needs have been met here at this school that’s why we are staying so he can get the help he needs. The teachers are very helpful in communicating with the parents. I’m very pleased with this school.

My son has been to 4 different schools in the past 4 years due to military and moving. He has ADHD, and has been treated so well! He says it's his favorite school that he has been to. Which is good because this is where he will stay. The teachers keep on good contact with me and seem to keep my son challenge which is key for him as he gets bored easily. Love this school.

My child has a sensory disorder and the staff here worked fast to get her a 504 plan. My heart is so full and I feel so much better about her being in school

I'm not sure about all of them yet, but the 1st grade teacher we have is awful. She is not understanding, i feel like she has it out for my kid. :(

We have had a hard time with the 1st grade teacher, but the principle and vice principle helped us work through our major issues. This teacher cannot handle a kid that is different.

Huge bullying issue, they do not protect the students, they cover up for each other from teacher to the school administration building just to keep themselves looking good in the public view, do not be fooled and please do not send your child here!

Bullying is a huge issue not only in this school but the entire school district, we are moving just to get out of BISD, please do not send your child to any of the schools within BISD. My kids who are 7 years apart in age both get anxiety every morning before school so I am removing them, you can bring your issues to the principal and the administration office when that didn't work but they are all in denial so they can keep ratings up, they do not care about kids unless you grew up here, "good ol boy" system!

They do not set the example of including and treating disabled children with respect. They tolerate bullying and brush it off as normal child behavior. My child was continuously called looser and not included in recess left to walk around the fence alone.

This school is the definition of white privilege. As long as your kid is white or does not have special needs your kids might have opportunity. Staff are undereducated when it comes to Autism Spectrum Disorders. They don't give any support for autistic kids to be in the regular classroom. Their special needs children are very segregated in this school. The special needs class does not participate in the grade level Easter egg hunt because they have a separate one for that class only. In the ARD meetings the principal is rude , talks at you, and parent input is not welcome. Terrible school that does not support diversity or acceptance of children who are different. My child cried everyday before and after school because the environment was so terrible. I even picked my child up from the car rider line in tears and the teacher with him didn't care. this school is terrible. Don't send your Autistc kids here.

Teachers are not knowledgeable, trained, or prepared to teach Autistc students. My child was at or above grade level when we moved here and after 2 years at this school he fell very behind. The staff did everything they could to force my child into the academic functioning class. The teachers did not advocate for adequate support to keep my child in the regular classroom. They even tried to label him as Mentally Retarded or ID because he fell behind. My child was never given Resource classes or given proper support. They also do not welcome parent envolvement from special needs parents. Not a welcoming, loving, or good learning environment for children with IEP. Aides are given too many kids to work with at one time. My child went without lunch many times because no adult was helping him open it. Very sad how behind the times this staff is. They are more worried about standardized test scores than teaching ALL students. Punishment style here is public shaming by removing student from classroom and forcing them to sit in another classroom with no regard for disability. Don't expect any help from the district either.

This school is amazing. The leadership is simply the best around. If you go to them for anything, they are there for you 100%. The principal makes an effort to greet every child she sees each morning by name! The teachers teach in ways that make learning fun and hands on.

Very dissapointed in my child's experience at this school. Most of the teachers are great and seem to enjoy what they do but there are a few that are really bad and treat the children badly. There is no reliable way to report concerns without retaliation and there is no accountability from leadership..

I have my two kids going to this school right from Kindergarten ... loved all the teachers. They are very encouraging. Gives an extra effort for one struggling. That is commendable. First weeks parents are allowed to walk kids to the classroom and then from third week they walk by themselves and if they need help ..there are office staff who help them to the classroom. Even parents can, they just need to sign the visitor register. Which I think is good as Parents in the hallway make it very chaotic ...and otherwise kids are amazing at the hallways. Would give all credits to the staff. Great school...

We really enjoyed our child's teacher but feel there could be improvements in so many ways. We came from another district and are pretty disappointed. We are used to schools that are heavy in the parent involvement which leads to really amazing events. We miss our old school. - Lack of extra curricular activities -Only has PE and music no art or language classes -Parent involvement is not very welcome -lunchtime kids get treated like military -heavy on worksheets -watch a lot of videos not pertaining to curriculum -
