We have a collaborative PLC - professional learning community mindset. We work together always seeking research based opportunities to develop teacher craft in greater ways. Each team is led by a team leader who is guided by an academic coach who is guided by administration but all teachers, academic coaches, and administrators work together collaboratively and plan together often.

Homework is a great opportunity to practice reading skills and maybe do a few math problems. Homework should be a quick review over familiar topics and an opportunity to get extra practice. At times we may have special projects that can be completed at home also. Overall, we want students to work hard all day long at school and be kids at home. They may need a little reinforcement or need to read some but we value family time for students at home.

Bay Colony teaches character building classes to all students in grades Kindergarten, first, and second. The character building classes are in the specials rotations and each group has a character lesson each six days. We do special announcements that focus on values, traits, and developing a strong personal character each day. We have a dynamic school counselor working with students in groups and individually each day. The administrators and the counselor work together to help facilitate student learning and to develop a sense of integrity and fairness through facilitation with student groups during times of conflict. These strategies help students to learn ways of coping with conflict and help them to be more empathetic, fair, and caring toward others.

Bay Colony is a supportive and caring place for students to learn. Our academics are rigorous and we make sure to include fun activities to keep students engaged in school. Bay Colony is a wonderful place to attend as a student and to work as a professional. Our community makes us a stronger and more positive campus.

My boys loved attending this wonderful place. The teachers are wonderful and well liked by both kids and parents. The administration was always caring and respectful. It makes me sad that my boys will not be able to continue going to school at Bay Colony.

The staff and the principal are very caring toward the students and welcoming to the parents and visitors. It is a community school that makes visitors feel welcome. The teachers expect the students to learn as much as possible and they have high expectations. The support staff is very helpful and there always seems to be someone available to help when visitors come to an event on campus.

I love being part of the school family at Bay Colony! We serve the greatest children and their families. Bay Colony is a dynamic and positive place to be! The principal is very caring toward the staff and visitors and is completely dedicated to meeting the needs of the students. She puts the needs of the students above all else. She greets as many students as she can each morning and always has a smile and something nice to say to them. She remembers the little details about the students and their families and that makes them feel special. The principal and the entire staff work very hard to make sure the academic and emotional needs of the students are met. This staff is very happy to work together and the enthusiasm to work together and with the students is contagious! Come visit us at Bay Colony and you will love it too!
