Im sharing this in hopes of helping other families make an informed decision. This isnt written out of anger, but out of concern for student well-being.
If you are considering moving into this schools attendance area or enrolling your child here, I strongly encourage you to research carefully before committing. In our experience, bullying was not occasionalit felt frequent and ongoing, creating a stressful environment for student. Over time, this had a real impact on our childs emotional well-being, feeling accepted and willingness to attend school.
Equally concerning was the lack of consistent support when issues were raised. While there may be caring individuals within the school, our experience was that concerns were often minimized and meaningful change was difficult to see. This made it hard for family and student to feel protected or heard.
If you have flexibility in where you live, you may want to consider other areas. If you must remain nearby, exploring alternative education optionsincluding homeschoolingmay provide a safer and more supportive environment for your child.
Every familys experience may differ, but based on what we went through, I felt it was important to share this perspective so others can ask the right questions before making a decision.

While the teachers are kind and supportive (and the nurse, counselors, and principal), the bullying is out of control and often overlooked. A child threatened to cut my son's throat with a knife, and then attempted to, and the school just told my son not to play with him.
Now my son is being spit on by another student and it's ignored because the child is special needs and apparently they get to do whatever they want. Assault is not ok.
Even the gym coach is a bully, telling male students they're not allowed to cry.
On top of that the school is extremely unorganized, the events we get information on maybe a week in advance? The school pictures are always at recess or gym so our kids are drenched in sweat and looking miserable and hot, why pay for that? And the fundraiser was literally just "give us money." That's it.
Oh except for the fundraiser where they made us pay $40 for our own child's art.
Honestly I wouldn't recommend this school and I'm incredibly annoyed. This isn't worth the mediocre education they're receiving and the trauma from the bullying.

There are some good and well-meaning teachers at this school but the Principal is a clueless mess. She doesn't know her students, she cannot seem to get organized, and she adopts experimental curricula that have been disastrous. She also seems to place more emphasis on making sure "everyone gets a reward" but ignores the truly good, hardworking kids. I cannot wait to be done with this school. It has been a complete drain on my children's self esteem.

My second grader and fourth graders both have two hours of work sometimes! Recent studies from Stanford and Harvard have shown that NO amount of homework is beneficial to elementary aged students. Maybe they need homework because they can't get anything done during the 8 hour day?!

My two daughters attended Specht for three years and loved it!!! All the staff, starting with the principal, and teachers were great! We are military family so we move around often. We will truly miss this school!
