DONT SEND YOUR SPECIAL EDUCATION KIDS HERE. When I attended this school i got shoved into a closet area and the door was barricaded with another closet and that happened almost daily when i would cry and i ran out the school 3 times and once made it halfway to my neighborhood then decided to come back.

The Dyslexia teacher told my daughter that she is in the class because she cannot read as good as the other kids. The counselor told us that my son did not need to be tested for GT because we came from a different demographic. My daughter’s classroom teacher refused to tutor her before the STAAR test. The principal agreed with this behavior. Never again. It’s sad that education has come to this. We have to do better.

My daughter loves being a Ranger. This is her third year and she has had three great teachers. We have survived the Covid learning snd felt wetmore did a good job with it. The principal was new to the campus when we were. She knows my daughter by name. This is a great school. There aren’t a lot of clubs/activities though. We enjoy the PTA things. My daughter loves recess. Who doesn’t?

All 4 of my children have or are attending this school. They have all excelled and love learning! Thanks to all their amazing teachers. I will say I had one not great teacher but the principle handled it immediately and professionally. My youngest also has a disability and used to hate school but his first 2 teachers Mrs. Baker & Mrs. Lucas taught him to enjoy learning and he now looks foward to it! There are so many amazing teachers here. Everyone gets a bad seed in the bunch from time to time and that's where the strong leadership comes in handy. Thank you to all the amazing wetmore staff!

We love Wetmore elementary. We have found that the teachers care about the students and put in the extra time to encourage and support each child. Wetmore has many Academic supported activities for families to attend after school. Wetmore is truly a family of great teachers and administration who want the best for all students.

excellent experience at this school. My grandson came in the middle of 4th grade and was made to feel welcome and was very happy there. He learned so much and improved in all areas from when he was at another NEISD school.

THE PRINICIPLE AND VICE PRINCIPLE BOITH ARE HORRIBLE IF YOU CHILD IS SOMEONE THEY DO NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH THEY CALL FOR YOU TO PICK THEM UP.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL. the VP is horrible and has absolutely no people skills at all. If you child has a mental illness they will not help they will do and find anything wrong to get them out of the school so they don't have to deal with that child. we have been in school for 18 weeks now and every single week almost every single day the nurse calls or the office calls about something like: I know you just brought in medicine but we didn't check it correctly so you need to come back and get the medicine after they called every day until I got the drs paperwork and got the meds to them. if you worry about your childs education don't send them here you will be called a momma bear since you are worried about your child being bullied. THIS SCHOOL IS THE WORST SCHOOL I HAVE EVER DELT WITH AND I HAVE BEEN IN SOME BAD SCHOOL. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT HARM YOUR CHILDS EDUCATION BY SENDING THEM TO THIS HORRIBLE SCHOOL

When I informed the school that my daughter needs speech therapy upon enrollment. I didn't get the red tape that we had to wait until she got behind. They quickly began her assessment and determined she needed it and developed a plan to get her where she needs to be! She loves all of her teachers at Wetmore and I couldn't be happier!!

my son attended this school 2014 thru 2015... his teacher had 8 students speacial needs by the end of the first semester... *8*... they wanted my son to be # 9...
the principle said"son did not have a good foundation... he had the same teacher for kinder... oops!...nice dogging out your own teachers... then at the end of the semester principle leaves... about to enroll in private school and hope that all the harm and bad teaching doesn't stick... never mind what am i talking about...
do not send your children here you be fine at the start but you will regret it.

Just care more and do your job and do it with the resorted that you have.... Nothing more and nothing less than why you became a teacher... It sure wasn't for the $...?so be happy in your decision....

Placing students in specialty needs classes based on competency of a teacher, teaching a certain number of students and can not handle or grasp and maybe ever just coping with 24 children by themselves does not justify a students need for placement in a special needs class. And of having a special need child of there own can also play a role in justifying putting someone else's child in those kind of classes as well... I understand that schools need funds and would I like to help but when it comes to my child l, I will not allow the school to function with a wrong decisions based on number of students needed in those kinds of classes to get those funds they so desperately need....

Cannot retain good quality teachers. Has gone downhill since opening. We left after three months and enrolled in private school.

Both of my children attended this school from K to 5th Grade. They loved every year at this school. I believe the score should be higher than a 7. This is a fantastic school with great teachers. They have a curriculum that will ensure that each and every child excels (also with the help of the parent). The PTA always made sure that each event was awesome. Both Principles (one retired) were very caring and involved. All of this has made the school what it is today.

I would never make my kids return to this school under and circumstance. My child was traumatized by something that happened in class, and rather then being helped by the staff, My 6 year old child was interrogated like a criminal. They held him without my knowledge and caused him even more mental anguish then the situation that had already occurred. The new principal proved his skills with children are not good at all. And they treated my son like the aggressor because of the statement of another child. Since then, DCFS has done a full investigation with all involved and ruled that the staff was wrong, that my child was the victim. And we have yet to even receive an apology for the pain they have caused my child and my family! No child is perfect, but to treat a child who has been wronged inside his school like a criminal is unjust and that's exactly what Wetmore elementary did to my child. If I could rate this school less then one star I would!

Overall the teachers are wonderful. My child's 2nd grade teacher was not good and ended up being moved to 1st grade the next year. She is mean and should not be teaching elementary students. The PTA is weak and disorganized, horrible at recruiting. Both the Principles were wonderful (one retired).
