We've had a TERRIBLE experience here. We've had to call the police against a student for threats of violence that the principal lied about checking into. Last year a girl broke my daughter's hand and had ZERO consequences. When asked for the video for evidence to press charges, we were told there wasnt cameras in the hallway. My daughter (autistic and doesnt do physical contact) was accused of being inappropriate with a boy during lunch. She was still placed in ISS for several days despite the VP saying there was no proof but that the alternative was DAEP. The other VP told the boy involved that there were cameras under the table. The VP who spoke with my daughter told her a ton of lies about having already contacted me and things I supposedly said. She didnt contact me til after. She told me she was investigating for the last hour, only to find out the kids were both down there for 2 entire class periods. In addition to that, both my children have made bullying complaints against teachers and students and they go unheard. A girl pantsed multiple girls in the locker room and nothing was done about it.

All that aside, we've had teachers bully our children and others, an insane unchecked student bullying issue, zero regulation in the locker rooms, health plans for broken bones ignored, dyslexia accommodations disregarded and administrative issues out to wahzoo. If I could do it all over, We wouldve avoided LVI like the plague.

There are some amazing teachers here who are regularly overlooked, while the problematic ones are placed on a pedestal. I've never hated a teacher, admin, a school, or a district before. I know they're all doing their jobs and what comes out of it is usually in the best interest of the kids. But this school? No. I dont know what they're doing but student support isnt it.

3/5 on teaching because some of these educators are wonderful people who genuinely care about the students and they are the only reason we stayed so long.

Do NOT work here. The campus administrators have no organization skills. They are terrible leaders. Poorly managed campus that responds to the whims of their own pockets.

I would rate this school a 0 if I can because my child's 7th-grade Teacher highly disrespected my child through the clear connections program and told him to turn on his mic but my child saw a notification say the mic has an issue so the Teacher told him to turn on his mic and type it fast and he was put on the pressure, this is stupid.

I visited the school and there was a lack of character.

Great school! My daughter is starting her third year at VLI. I have been impressed with Mr. Douglas, the principal. We had an issue over my daughter's class placement and schedule this year. I emailed Mr. Douglas about the situation and he called me within 10 minutes of me sending the email (after school hours, too!). Everything was completely and smoothly resolved the next day. Very impressed!

Amazing teachers. My kids grew a lot last year. I'm so excited about this school year too. My kids love it. The principal is always visible and loves kids. Great support.

No wonder bullying is so pervasive at this school. The principal is leading by example. My daughter has been bullied and sexually harassed by other students throughout the school year and when I asked the administration for help they told me their control over the situation was limited. They gave minimal consequences to the students who torment and harass my daughter. I don't feel this is a safe campus and something needs to be done about it. Starting with the leadership.

I was having some trouble, I was very upset, but the teachers the Principal helped us up. At the end it turned out ok. I recomend all the parents to stay tuned to what the teachers tell the students to turn in from the beginning of the year, because it can come back and bite you and specially your child and these children are still growing so they can't take all the responsibility on their own. Do homework and stay in touch with the teachers, something I regret not doing from the beginning thinking she was well taken care of, but it came back and bite me, sooooo in summary do home work and class work, don't expect the teachers are on top of it they're are too many kids. Regretfull that they have too many kids in each class/teacher , they have no time for that one to one teaching even once a month, and those kids that might need it, will suffer.oh and the TAKS/STARRS (state tests) put the kids behind in what they actually need to learn. Teacher's are most worried in making sure the students know whats on the test and not in their text books, Regretfull, the states need to do something about that. I wonder if they really learn about what is going to be in their future .
