The teachers help out a lot, and the teachers teach students how their supposed to teach. And overall the teachers are very cheerful and kind if your listening.

Posted: July 3, 2020

The students hide things from teachers, they only respect teachers. But when the teachers don’t look at them their very rude, well the school does teach students to have character, but barely any students learn.

The leadership here is good, we mostly focus on leader ship so that’s the cause.

Since there are more Hispanics, the school mostly focuses on them. But we have separate classes and etc for different learning levels. I’m not so good at math so they used to put me in a low level math class. And the thing is, I actually learned.

A lot of students here fight, in my year of forty grade, I saw boys actually fighting in the lunch room. And there a lot of different fights too, people push in lines, can actually trip you, and the girls mostly spread rumors or verbally bully if they don’t think anyone is not their type. But students are overall nice if your their type.

I never made any friends at this school, the last time I had friends is in third grade. Also, the students do not act their age AT ALL, these 7,8,9,10,11 year olds think that their 21 so they can curse, do very inappropriate things sometimes. And also, date each other, this is so messed up. What kind of child dates someone. And the thing is most students here don’t succeed in English, because they don’t tend to learn they tend to mess around and barely pay attention to the teachers. We’re planning to go to a new school, where it’s not crowded with Hispanics.

This school is good at teaching, as a student I’ve learned decent things from here.

As a parent, I've seen many great changes at Sugarland elementary. Under the leadership of Dr. Gail Brady, the school culture has evolved and students are excited about the new ways their teachers are providing lessons and activities.

I have been teaching Sugarland for over 4 years-The principals work hard to create a team atmosphere at the school which results in children who are learning with smiles on their faces! Sugarland rocked SOLs this year.

Sugarland has increased in scores academically over the past four years, with the exception of science last year, but science has now increased by 33 points this year. All scores are in the nineties, with reading at 88%. People make generalizations about the school, but are not involved. Get involved before you make statements. It is a GREAT school!

Teacher, Mrs. Hope Blankenship and her students honor Veterans with personal letters of thanks for serving our country.

This school has really fallen apart in the last few years. Failing SOL scores and a serious lack of communication from the school has made the climate at SE with a lot to be desired.

We have been pleasantly surprised by Sugarland. The principal is amazing. My kid's teacher runs an organized, efficient classroom. Bullying is absolutely not allowed at this school. Sugarland creates a tolerant environment where the kids treat each other respectfully. I have heard the complaint that more time is spent on children that are learning English so other kids are ignored. I have had lunch with my kid s class; nearly all the kids speak English well. Children are all in competition for the teacher s attention because of the class size. That is going to be a problem regardless of the school. Sugarland does have more kids that are poor and start school unprepared. However, they are teaching the exact same thing in the classroom as the other schools. Loudoun has a set curriculum. My husband and I are both well educated with advanced degrees. I am sure that our kids will have top test scores, go to college and do well. As a member of this community, I also hope that the other children will do well. I am not raising a calculator, I am raising a person. I want my child to grow up to be kind and tolerant, as well as intelligent. Sugarland is working out very well for us.
