I would give this school zero stars if it were possible. It was awful. In fact, awful is an understatement. The staff, who are supposed to be the main authority in the school, do not do anything to prevent bullying, hate crimes, or any other misconduct. The environment is a special type of inferno that, even after I was done with my middle school years, I still cannot put into words. The students themselves are also a major problem. They can get away with bullying and racism, which goes to show how unprofessional and bad the staff is in their job. Some teachers also target certain students, whether it's because they do not speak English or they are an ethnic minority. I have been a victim of bullying and have been treated differently by the dean of my grade. At one point, the bullying almost made me take my own life. I had tried to reach out to counselors, but they showed little effort in actually apprehending the perpetrators. My friend has been targeted by an EL teacher, who is supposed to help her learn English, was lowering her grades due to her race. Also, there seems to be this hierarchy among students where some students are full of themselves and are known as "the popular kids". When I was in 7th grade, I heard of a drug dealing that was going on amongst 8th graders. It seems to me that the staff is scared of the students. In conclusion, I would like to say that please, please, please do not go here or try to switch to another middle school in the Loudoun County region.

I have a friend who had a specific teacher who accused her of cheating on a bell ringer for writing the question in PEN and writing the answer in pencil. When she attempted to change teachers since their teaching style wasnt for her, the school, counselors, said no because it was CROSS TEAMING. They care more about cross teaming than their students success!! It is complete and utter nonsense.

This school is pretty good. Although some teachers may be a bit strict, and also that some classes don't have fun ways of learning things. I think this school is pretty good. I don't know what the bullying here is like since I haven't been bullied yet. at least the school has good food like cholate milk everyday.

Mediocre. Lessons are entertaining around half of the time and many of the teachers put great effort into making very interesting topics. Most teachers are very friendly, which is good.
Bullying is relentless, and I have been attacked multiple times by other students, resulting in cuts, scrapes, and bruises on my body. Homophobic and transphobic comments and gossip are thrown around the school constantly. Family engagement is nearly non-existent. The environment in the school is very pompous and money-poisoned. Nobody knows about half of the clubs until halfway into the school year, which is too late to join any clubs. A large portion of the clubs have also been disbanded due to the lack of activity bus.
Bottom line -- meh. I appreciate the effort that the teachers put in, but the environment is very toxic.

The staff here, even the seemingly most well-intentioned, appear to be completely oblivious to the level and frequency of bullying that goes on here - even when it is happening right under their noses. They have advertised a zero tolerance policy on bullying. However, the staff have been unwilling to acknowledge or have meaningful, effective discourse on the subject.
Their services for special needs children are highly ineffective. They tend to put these children under a microscope, expecting them to conform to what they deem normal, while placing zero expectations of decent behavior on the children that bully.

Awful. AWFUL.
I do not recommend this school at all. I am still in this school and I hope to go to another one.
Most of the teachers are annoying and giving a ton of homework. They suck, Absolutely. Suck.
Their school staffs barely care. They all are getting paid low and they barely do their job.
Kids want to enjoy school, Kids want to be taught with excitement. Kids dont need to get told "do this or ur parents will get called" or just handing them over papers and tell them what to do. Learning requires excitement. Not force-ment.
Absolute L school. I barely have any hopes to rate this 2 stars or above.

Pros: Pretty good teachers (some better than others), deals with bullying pretty well, pretty good classes including electives
Cons: Schoolmates tend to be annoying and rude, schoolmates probably being mean behind your back and in front of you and then almost always deny it, schoolmates not listening when asked to stop, etc.

Principal is never there and the bullying is rampant. My child was bullied for 3 years with the third year there the worst. Counselors do not handle the complaints and many situations handled badly.

Some are, some arent. The effective ones are just ok, the ineffective ones are AWFUL
Posted: November 14, 2019
They dont even know what those words mean
Posted: November 14, 2019
They do NOTHING. They are TERRIFIED of the kids & parents
Posted: November 14, 2019
Youd have to ask them - I cant tell
Posted: November 14, 2019
They are terrified of the bullys parents so they do nothing. They have an HUGE tolerance for physical violence - my child has been hurt many many times
Posted: May 15, 2019
OOF. How do I say it...Ah, yes, awful.
Posted: May 15, 2019
Some teachers are effective and some are not.
Posted: May 15, 2019
They don't make an active effort to develop these characteristics in students. How or what you feel is irrelevant to them.
Posted: May 15, 2019
Posted: May 15, 2019
I guess? I dunno, you ask them.
Posted: May 15, 2019
Not. At. All. Bullying goes on every day unreported and the teachers pay more attention to some student giving their significant other a hug instead of paying attention to kids who are constantly getting bullied.

Teachers assign home work only if it encourages learning.
Posted: October 25, 2018
The teacher work individually with students to meet student needs.
Posted: October 25, 2018
This school heavily focuses on character. The first couple days of school are focused on kindness and bulling prevention.
Posted: October 25, 2018
The principal, Miss Loya, is very productive and she engorges good behavior and supports fair education.
Posted: October 25, 2018
There are personal teachers for students with disabilities. Each student is supported and encouraged.
Posted: October 25, 2018
Like I said, the first couple days of school are focused on kindness and bulling prevention. If a bullying is reported the school does everything in its power to stop it.

10/10! Farmwell is a great school, my sister and I are enrolled in this school and we adore it!
Posted: March 6, 2018
Homework is meaningful and only assigned as review of work covered in class.
Posted: March 6, 2018
Teachers are highly educated and qualified. All teachers are trained in Personalized Learning and work hard to meet the individual needs of all of their students.
Posted: March 6, 2018
These qualities are overtly taught, celebrated and modeled by the teachers.
Posted: March 6, 2018
Mrs. Loya is a wonderful principal! She's very approachable and has an open door policy. The deans work closely with the students to establish positive relationships and are very good at monitoring student behavior and preventing problems.
Posted: March 6, 2018
Students with learning difficulties are inclusively educated.
Posted: March 6, 2018
Bullying is not tolerated at this school. They could do more to encourage students to report bullying.
Posted: March 6, 2018
Overall our experience at Farmwell Station has been excellent! My children have been challenged academically and supported socially and emotionally.
Posted: March 3, 2016
Farmwell has multiple opportunities for students, both during and after school. The principal, Mrs. Loya, is involved and an excellent role model. In the three years that my son has attended, we've only had one sub-par teacher. The rest have been good to awesome! The programs for advanced students are very strong. The language and music offerings are also good.

Recent reviewers of this school must be crazy. I have two daughters in FSMS and we've had zero problems. Teachers are great and the staff is efficient. The school is clean and organized. My children are very happy with the structure and teachers at their school. The schools policy on bullying are fantastic and my children feel safe. The extra-curricular activities though underfunded in recent years are fantastic. I strongly feel that parents and students get out of their school what they put into it.

This school is terrible. It is poor, and needs many upgrades. The lockers are about 19 years old and sometimes do not open. There is a lot of vulgar language used in this school by the students. They have a decent lunch selection and fair prices but overall not a great school.

From when my child started at farmwell we have had many bad encounters. My child's counselor has called a child a dirty word and doesn't accept requests from parents when they ask to change a course to a higher one. I asked at the beginning of the summer to change my child's class to be the higher one then they put them in a combined one still thinking they were in a lower which made my child upset For that requires a schedule change to fix it when they should have gotten it right the first time. the principal doesn't accept wishes either. FSMS is a horrible school and I do not recommend it.
