Absolutely the best teachers and staff! Our kids love going there and their education and social skills have improved dramatically since we relocated schools!

We have been pleased with our child's education at NKES. Our daughter has felt supported and engaged, her teachers have identified areas where she could use special attention and it has paid dividends in her progress in her studies.

We have met both the superintendent and the principal, and both are engaged in improving the schools and are open to feedback and commentary from parents. The school system is growing, having recently added another elementary school in Quinton, and appears to be keeping pace with the needs of our rapidly growing population.

Teachers are amazing, If you ever have a problem they will listen and talk with you at anytime. My son was having an issue with another student. His teacher at the time called and asked for a meeting so we could figure this out. There is a list you can out your child on so they do not get put in class with the student again. we did that and she also switched the student out of her class due to so many students he was picking on.

What an excellent school! The staff is amazing and so is the administration. NKES test scores are well above average.

2014 - this school still has Art education and Computer class only offered to the students half of the year! Incredible! These students are missing out - getting further and further behind. The grading scale is not what others around us have - the 10 point scale. In Virginia Beach the elementary schools aren't even on a letter based grading scale. I was told by a teacher starting now - February - the rest of the school year will be SOL review....4 months of that! These poor kids! These poor teachers!

I can't say enough good things about this school. Good class sizes, excellent teachers, and caring staff. If you are considering this school, I highly encourage a visit. I'm not sure where some commenters are getting low tests scores from? NKES has won several awards and has done well on testing.

The one word that best describes this school is NIGHTMARE. I would work two jobs so I DO NOT have to send my children there. If you have to settle on a below par school, then this is the school for you. The staff are rude, uncaring and unprofessional . New Kent Elementary school is a poorly ran school with poor test results to prove it. Research other options before having to settle for this lazy educational system. The staff is completely burned out and not at all role models for the young children. The principal is a know-it-all and not interested in your input. I get the sense his lethargic support staff is much more important to him than his young students.

The problem this school and every school in the school district has is with the "management" so to speak. The superintendent, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Director of Instructional Technology, Testing and Accountability have all been given a job that has proven to be too much for them to handle. Frivolous unfocused spending and no direct attention to the impact on students has deeply effected the ability for these schools in the district to offer the best education to their students. This can be seen be falling test scores especially in reading content areas. The school board needs to reevaluate and get back to focusing on the needs of the students instead of the wants of their directors.
