Our family had such a positive experience at Strawbridge Elementary. The school has a warm, caring atmosphere, and the staff is outstanding. A special shoutout to Mrs. Snow for her kindness, patience, and dedication. She made a lasting impact, and we will always be thankful.

This school has been rated a 10 most years. I had a fantastic experience here with my child. The staff and community here is extremely involved to a level you will not find at almost any other school in Virginia Beach.

Overall, I'm quite surprised at how many great reviews this school has because unfortunately I don't recall having any support whatsoever. The Principal? Ha! good luck you can barely get a hold of her and I know she can be busy however, her administration staff is terrible. Everyone is super old and there needs to be new faces with new energy. Everyone in the office just has the same "ugh" mood and face expression. I would hope things change here but this is what happens when you put the wrong people in charge and not help you with your issues with this school.

I have had my children at this school for ten years now, starting when my now high-schooler was in Kindergarten! I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to send them to this school. The campus is beautiful and clean, the teachers genuinely care for each student, the curriculum is top notch and implemented in a fun way so students are not confined to a table and chair all day long. I’ve refused to move over the years because I feel Strawbridge is the best school in the area after discussing various educational factors with friends who have children at neighboring schools. Parents are always kept up-to-date with any changes and I feel very included in my children’s education. I highly recommend this school.

My son came to Strawbridge in 5th grade and has had a great experience. We were worried about moving and changing schools but he has wonderful teachers and great friends. So happy we had such a great experience.

There were several times when my son or his friends spoke up for one another when kids were being unkind. It was clear the class had a bond and communicated regularly about how to care for each other. I could tell by the language they used that adults were talking to them about how to treat one another and it made a big difference to the kids!

My son is in kindergarten. He does not have official homework, but reads every night. It is wonderful as a parent to prioritize pure reading because we are not completing worksheets and other busy work each evening!

Mrs. Gibson was a gift to my son this year! He adored her and felt truly loved every day, by his teacher and Mrs. Stohrer, her assistant. Both made him feel like he was the most important little boy in the whole world and he could not wait to go to school every morning!

These characteristics are emphasized in a variety of ways at Strawbridge. My son completed a kindness challenge, always knew the trait of the month and talked regularly about fairness and how he could take care of his friends and teachers at school (his words!)

The leadership is highly visible at every school event. They wrote personal comments on every one of my son's report cards. He knew their names and felt like they were an important part of his school experience from the very beginning. When we had safety discussions, he always listed them as adults he could trust.

My son was an early reader and very skilled at math. I felt he was challenged all year long, with assignments specifically tailored to his needs. He was familiar with support staff like the gifted resource teacher, reading resource teacher and guidance counselor and spoke regularly about how they came to his class. He also talked about specific students have other assignments that were not like his and spoke compassionately about how everyone has different needs. It is clear the adults in the school were modeling their support in a way that meant something to him!

We adore this school! As a teacher myself, I was not sure what to expect from my son's first year in school. I could not be happier with his experience!

My daughter is leaving Strawbridge this week for middle school. We have had the absolute best experience and I am actually heartbroken to leave this school. Every teacher has loved and cared for each student as if they were their own. The teachers not only teach the curriculum but place so much value on kindness, respect and exploration in the classroom. My child was encouraged throughout her time at SES to learn in various ways and her thoughts and ideas were always valued. The principal may be the nicest lady I’ve ever met with a constant smile and genuine concern for each student. Every person employed there has been so nurturing and wonderful and I am so grateful for our time at Strawbridge.

I am writing this after my son has finished his kindergarten year at Strawbridge and I could not have been more pleased with our experience. The staff is so kind and helpful and made my son's first year a great year. I felt that his teacher truly saw his talents and abilities, and his opportunities, and taught him accordingly. We are so excited to start another school year at Strawbridge, and look forward to many more!

Strawbridge is an outstanding school with dedicated and talented staff and teachers who really go all out to make sure the kids get the best grade school education possible. My son's teachers have done a wonderful job of identifying his strengths and weaknesses and worked with him on how to always improve. Can't recommend this school enough.
