my experience at Corporate Landing Middle School from 6th through 8th grade was honestly terrible. while i can admit that the education was good for the most part, the way the administration treated students completely ruined my experience. i had teachers who genuinely cared about us, listened to us, & were willing to stand up for their students, but the administration, especially the APs, made it feel like rules, control, & the school’s image mattered more than the actual students. it often felt like they made decisions before hearing the full story, & i felt like certain students were treated unfairly or held to different standards. the school calls itself a “no bullying zone,” but from my experience, bullying was not always taken seriously, which made that statement feel almost meaningless. family communication was also a huge problem because there were situations where parents were not properly informed about what was happening, leaving the student to go home & explain everything themselves. i don’t understand why students should have to be the ones telling their parents about serious situations when the school was directly involved. i also went through extremely difficult personal situations while attending this school & felt like the adults who were supposed to support me did not care enough to understand what i was going through. i even ended up going to court over situations involving the school, which shows how serious some of these problems became. there was also a comment made by a principal that, in my understanding, came across as implying that having more Black students meant the school received more funding. even though it was not directly said in those exact words, that was how the comment came across to me, & i found it extremely inappropriate coming from someone in a position of authority. what made everything worse was feeling like the school cared more about protecting its image than admitting when something was handled poorly. overall, i appreciate the teachers who genuinely cared about me & helped me academically, but that does not erase how badly i feel many situations were handled by administration. Corporate Landing needs to do better when it comes to listening to students, communicating with families, taking bullying seriously, treating students fairly, & remembering that students are actual people with real problems. based on my personal experience, i genuinely would not recommend this school to anyone. Think a third time.

This school is horrible and needs new teachers. Fights everyday and no one is doing anything to stop it. There has been threats every single day and no sense of urgency to get to the bottom of it

This is my son’s second year at the school and it has been nothing but terrible since the minute he walked in that door. My son is special needs, in a special ED classroom and gets bullied daily. I don’t even know how many times I have been over to that school and called meetings to try and get him help. The teachers/counselors/vice principal and principal RARELY respond to my emails and phone calls. Their solution: tell my son to avoid the bullies?! So we’re just going to ignore that?? They only consider it bullying if your child doesn’t interact with the bully—INCLUDING telling the bully to “leave them alone.” They said “if the child interacts with the bully, then they don’t consider it bullying.”
I’m completely dumbfounded in their responses and “solutions” to bullying.
The bullying is off the charts and nothing is done, point blank. The staff seriously needs to do better!

I was a student at the school for two years. During the first year, it was a bit rough because I didn’t have that many friends, and not all of my friends were in my classes, but during the second year of my friends were in my classes, so in my opinion, I would say as long as you like, have some friends then you’ll be fine. There are some threats at the school, but they’re not serious threats.

This school sucks. The math and English teacher want to be a teen so bad they are rude to the good students and favor the ones that are bad and rude and as a former student I would not recommend this school unless you want ur kids mad every day or depressed and crying every day

The teachers act like high school bullies! They don’t communicate with parents properly and they treat “certain” children better than other students. They treat the children of color as if all of them come from broken homes that depend on government assistance. The custodians either bully the children of color while they turn the blind eye to the non color children and it’s very disheartening. The principal tries his hardest but at this point I believe his hands are tied with many of the situations. Two year post Covid and the staff still don’t allow parents inside of the building as if they have something to hide. The teachers are blankly nasty to the parents if you’re on the school’s property and treat guest with no regards!!!

This year was my daughter’s first year here. She used to love going to school but gradually began to act out when asked about her day and tries to avoid “B days” where she sees one particular teacher. It became exhausting to drag her to school but over time found out her teacher has been bullying her. I had a conference with the 6th grade counselor who was an absolute gem, but the teacher was stuck on how she treated my daughter nice all because she gave my daughter “a pet name” and could have been worse (since my kid has so much terrible things about her to complain about). After expressing my concerns regarding the teachers behavior the teacher wrote my daughter a referral 9 days away from the last day because my daughter packed up 2 minutes before the bell and the teacher did not instruct her to do that. The assistant principal only backed up the teacher and did not hear out any concerns but told me “seriously? With 9 days left?” Rude, unprofessional, petty, power struggles. The teacher I’m referring to last name starts with a K and teachers science and math.

Staff at this school doesn't care about the students well being, and how they perform in the classroom. Most teachers tend to idolize one or two students above the rest of the class. When bullying is brought up to staff members, they tend to turn the other direction and not care. There were also a handful of teachers who would make inappropriate remarks about female students, and still keep their job. Overall this school is horrible. My child would come home most days crying. Do not send your kids here. Props to the math teacher Ms. Moses tho. She was an amazing teacher, and if she saw that one of her students were falling behind, she would invite them to her room during lunch or after school to give them hands on help.

The are not willing to fix any situation that you bring to their attention. My child is in 7th grade. I expect the same stuff each year. Any bulling, harm to your child will be swept under the carpet. Just don't make and waves and we will all be ok. It isn't the schools responsibility to protect your child. This is not a school I would go out of my way to have my child attend. You will see disrespectful students and staff doesn't do anything about it. It is sad, this school could be so much more if the front office cared and listened to the students and parents. It seems like it is status quo to deal with a problem instead of fixing it or changing things so the problems stop. They are not interested in solutions. We are looking at other options to continue our children's education elsewhere.

I tried to talk to the bus driver about him being bullied n if she can keep a eye out for my son I then asked her if she wants to question my son please ask me before she does then Omg things all went bad she started getting really mean n told me to get away from the bus. I then call corporate landing middle school to talk to someone on what just happen the assistant principal called me back an asked me what happened I then told her ms. Morris what happened she wasn't nice telling me I don't have the right to talk to the bus driver or ask her anything. When my children get on a bus they r in there care same as the school but when I'm told I don't have the right to ask for protection for my child isn't right but when I was talking to the assistant principal she was quick to take the heat off the bus driver an to cover it up by saying they are investigating my son for spitting but this was only brought up because of the issues about the bus driver prior to that no one called me to inform me of any situation. That morning of me telling the bus driver about my son being bullied n her not wanting to hear it when they got to the school that kid that bullied my son trip him with his hand n hit him with his lunchbox at my son's head my son then had to defend himself n then once again I was not told about this then the assistant principal had called the cops on me cause I was holding my ground to defend my son so when my son got off the bus she had cops there questioning the bus driver about me lying about me being on the bus which I wasn't n not letting the door shut which I wasn't so I just want parents to know this is one school that will not protect your child n will tell u you don't have the right to know anything that is going on

This school is the best all of my teacher were nice and did everything to teach the students including me to pass the SOL

I am a 6th grader at CLMS. I honestly love the school, we are a STEM school which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. At our school the teachers encourage you to ask about things you don't know. If you where deciding on sending your child to CLMS. It would be the greatest time of his\her life.

I have gone to Corporate Landing from my 6th to 8th grade years. There have been SO many extracurricular activities to choose from, and it was great being involved. However, I would wake up every morning and not want to go to school because of the isolation treatment everyone had given me. I found several teachers who stuck by me the entire time and got close to them the more I spent time with. The music department is great; the school has received more than 4 blue ribbon awards by the state for superior ratings in the district assessments. I suggest students should take the time to get close with teachers, guidance counsellors, and some classmates during their time in school. High school actually does get better; it may seem like this "hole" known as middle school is impossible to get out of, but things will change, as well as people.

I and currently an 8th grader at CLMS I've been there since the 6th grade and my experience has not been that bad it's not a bad school I think most of the staff and students treat you fair and they do what they have to do!! When it come to bullying they don't play most of the time because I was getting bullied a little in. The sixth grade I had problems with people calling me GAY but they took care of it and the last 2 years have been great!!!

As a student at corporate landing middle, I've hated it. I am currently an 8th grader at this school. I've had problems every year. In 6th grade, I was bullied constantly and would come home crying every day. I apparently couldn't get along with people and the administration made me sit by myself at lunch as well that happened in my 7th grade year. I had enough at corporate, and as my 8th grade year has went by, my drama calmed down. The only thing I LOVE about it there is the debate team and debate coaches. However, I wouldn't recommend clms because the administration doesn't address things in a good way.

This school is horrible. I ended up having to pull my daughter out near the middle of her 8th grade year because she was being bullied. She came home from school crying every single day. She had a shoe thrown at her in PE so hard that it fractured her shoulder. She was pushed down the stairs. All because she is different (autism). I practically lived at the school trying to get this issue taken care of, but the staff did nothing to help her or stop it. Her grades dropped from A's and B's to C's and F's. She is at OLHS now and is on the honor roll again. I have younger children that are zoned to go to CLMS in a few years and I will do everything in my power to get them into another school or a private school before them.

Great school, new and clean. My son with autism attended the program there and did very well.
