Please don’t subject your children to this school! The principal is psychotic she should be locked away what she has done to the children. The VP is acting just like her and they need to be in jail not a school!

My child has witnessed a couple of physical fights this year, one was 2 girls in the lunch room. The aggressor approached the other girl and began to violently punch her in face and head then slamming her face on table until the girl’s nose and mouth was bleeding. No notice was sent out regarding incident but they send messages regarding potential fights- but an actual fight - no. This is traumatic for kids to witness and they swept it under the rug.

For the most part, many of the teachers are great with the exception of a certain algebra teacher who just assigns the work without teaching the kids. Many of the students transfered out to another class per their parents request.

In addition, most of the office staff are nice except the main admin/secretary who has a nasty and rude attitude. She’s so miserable it’s appalling considering she works in a school setting. She thinks she can talk to parents anyway she wants.

You would think this school would have higher rating because of the location but the employees make a big difference in the ratings.

This school allows bullying from both staff and children. They never try to help resolve issues and they make everything worst! They do not enforce any rules or policies nor do they follow through with what they say. Pleased refrain from sending your children here!

Terrible!! Do NOT expect the principal to enforce policies that protect your students right to a safe education experience. LOCO Partentis is NOT assured and performed at this school. I will be pursuing this further for accountability. When a physical altercation or violent attack occurs against a student every school leader has a job to do: the teacher, the principal, and the resource officer. Here at this school only the resource officer PERFORMED accordingly to the position, the rest failed to carry out school functions. It appears that public schools are more concerned with standardized test scores more so than your child's safety in the classrooms.

A study block is allotted where students can work on it.

Some true but not all. My son was violently attacked under teacher supervision and the teacher did not to intervene. Teacher was NOWHERE to be seen.

This school does not adhere to stated policies.

Posted: March 2, 2020

Policy"s are nothing but words until they are ENFORCED. The principal here does NOT perform the role and job of enforcing policies. This could be why bullying and fights happen, because students know they will not face consequences as promised in code of student conduct. Respectfully, SAD, POOR & INEFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Teacher here enabled students to video record my child being slammed to ground, and punched in the head several times. Did NOTHING to intervene because they were too busy on the computer.

This school is very military friendly. My son had no problem feeling like he belonged and got involved with activities right away. I highly recommend this school and Fairfield elementary that feeds into it. We had a great experience at this school and my son was accepted into all advanced math and science classes after attending this school.

My son was never overwhelmed with homework and had time for extra curricular activities while maintaining A’s.

This schools STEM teachers were great. My son excelled in math here.

Dr. Patti Jenkins is amazing. She is a nurturer, and holds her staff and students to a high standard. The families that attend this school are solid... parental support goes beyond expectations, and most of the students are eager to please. Some of the teachers seem to be stuck in "the Kempsville way" as it is an older school, and some people aren't willing to accept that the demographic of the city is changing... but for the most part the teachers want what most educators want (or should want) -- the best for their kids.

As a military family, we've seen our fair share of schools. We absolutely love KMS and the teachers there. Teachers have always been accessible and helpful. We've never had any issues with bullying or fighting and we're going on our third year in this school. I honestly can't say enough good things about this school and staff.

The staff has been very helpful in helping my daughter transition from elementary. Despite the whole experience being overwhelming, we are finding that the staff is on top of everything and working to make her days go as smoothly as possible. I would agree that the leadership of KMS is outstanding.

There isn't much to crow about this school. I went to it and the teachers are average, the leadership is average, and there aren't any challenging academic programmes.
