This school is not a good option for special education. Communication is terrible. There is a lack of support regarding students needs. I am having problems with this school that I have never had anywhere else nor in my childs entire life. It is extremely frustrating and disappointing.

This school is a creative mind space for kids to grow the teachers push the students to be the best them that they can be the principals are nice but can be serious when needed they resolve conflicts easily and make fair punishments they treat everyone like equals and are good at teaching kids with disabilities

My child’s experience with LES this year has been neutral at best. My child willingly goes to school each morning and I am very thankful for that. I have concerns that discipline has been more extreme than necessary for students in my child’s class. There wasn’t a PTA during most of the school year and now that there is a board for the PTA there was never any requests for members/dues. I don’t feel that the administration believes involving parents is necessary. They seem to be happy to take pictures and post them on Twitter to market themselves and quite frankly I would be offended if my child’s photo was used to advance someone’s career. There is a new principal coming in next school year that hopefully believes that listening to all interested parties is important, including parents.

I have had children going to this school for four years and have been so pleased with Lynnhaven Elementary. The principal and assistant principal are both very approachable and keep communication open with parents. I have loved the teachers, programs, and events. Any concerns I have had have been addressed quickly.

One worksheet every 3-4 weeks if you're lucky - lol. No joke on this. Much of the "no homework" research for elementary school-age students comes from Western Europe where the culture, history and social safety nets are far different than what is in the United States. The children here are being educationally under-served (not the teachers' fault since they are merely doing what the VBCPS School Board dictates). Essentially, the kids are being trained to be nice to each other (important), but not getting much in the way of a solid education.

This is the highlight of the school. If bullying is brought to their attention, they will go out of their way to handle it in a compassionate and thoughtful way. They have numerous educational and psych tools to use with the children to get them to correct their behaviors and consider how it feels to be the bullied/injured party. Still, my child had 1.5 years of martial arts under his/her belt which helped him/her handle bullying immensely. If you can afford it, be sure to enroll your kids in martial arts... the teachers cannot do everything.

The key to having a student attend this school is to be as involved with your children as humanly possible: Feed them healthy food so their brains can function at school (stop feeding them so much junk and processed food), fill their time with extra-curricular activities (if you can afford it) and make them do extra work outside of school hours (buy math and reading workbooks from Amazon.com and make them do them daily!). If you don't do the above, many of these kids are merely being prepared to be friendly order takers and not much else (unless they are in the gifted programs). In my opinion, the school's expectations of their non-gifted/normal students are extremely low. Super nice staff that mean well, but have been in the system for so long that I don't think they realize what other kids are getting in other more affluent school districts (public and private) around the country.

This school does not like parents to get involved. They treat my wife and I like we're a burden instead of working as a team.

This school does not encourage my son nor embrace him as a human being. They accused my son of having autism without running a test nor being a a medical doctor. Our pediatrician said no one at this school is qualified to make that assumption.

The administration think they know what's best for your child more than the parent. They talk at you and not conversational.

The teacher and administrators refused to let my wife and I know when test are taking place. They refused to provide examples of what's being taught in class so we can teach our son the same thing. To avoid confusing our son

Lynnhaven Elementary School is outstanding with an outstanding team lead by Katherine Everett, Principal. Ms Everett is simply amazing and a godsend and we were blessed that Ethan got to attend kindergarten and get his school years off to an outstanding start! Ethan would tell me on many occasions that Ms. Everett loved him and was his friend. Thank you Mrs. Everett and Lynnhaven Elementary staff. You will always be remembered and never forgotten! Lynnhaven is a place where student achievement certainly begins with building relationships. The Administration can be seen each morning greeting our students. Mrs. Everett is outside as the students enter the school building, while Mrs. Yoakam is outside greeting students as they get off the buses. I admire the way Ms. Walston is in the bus loop with her Pom-poms each morning cheering with such enthsiam, as the students are dropped off to start their day of learning. The parents drive off confidently knnowing that their child is in a safe and loving environment.

Why I Love Lynnhaven Elementary? Hello .My name is Dr. Robert Ziegler and I wanted to explain to you why I love Lynnhaven Elementary School. That question is easy for me to answer. Lynnhaven has been a great asset to my two daughters and my grandson. But the school has been so much more to the people in the community. It has been an excellent learning institution that has provided the utmost educational standards for VA. The faculty and staff always show how much they really care for the well being of the students and they treat each other as a Family . It s nice to know that your child(ren) can go to school and feel safe, secured and loved. The school has have community involvement where parents, teachers and the students become better for our future. With all of us working together as a unity this shows our students that when we work together we can accomplish anything. This is just some of the reasons why I love Lynnhaven Elementary School.

My grandson attends and this school is wonderful. Teachers are enthusiastic, the school is beautiful inside and every day my grandson is excited about going to school. On the mornings when I drop him off, all of the teachers say hello and show their caring. His teacher, Mrs Riddick , has everything under control in the classroom and he is learning so much every day.

The faculty here are very friendly & enthusiastic. They have created a wonderful learning environment for the children & have many afterschool activites to keep the parents & community involved with their school! Lynnhaven Elementary is a great place to learn!

My school is filled with awesome teachers and students. This year our school's theme is "In It to Win It With Student Achievement" and our learners and their families have started the year off with a winner's mindset. When we held our Sneak Peek, it was a huge success. When we hosted Grandparents Day, it was a hit and our Open House was standing room only! Each student received a Take Home Library (a crate with a free book) to start their home library collection this year. I am thrilled to be a Lynnhaven Lion! My favorite part of the day is being on morning duty with my pom- poms, greeting the students as their parents drop them off each day.

My children both attend Lynnhaven Elementary. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They make my children as well as myself feel right at home. They also hold high standards and make it obvious that they do everything to be sure all students are successful. academically and with extra-curricula activities.
