Great school. It feels like a private school because the families are very engaged. Teachers are happy to work there and the environment is positive.

We love North Landing Elementary and would not consider moving our son to a different elementary school.

The amount of homework my son has received has been appropriate for his grade level.

We have been at North Landing for 3 years now and absolutely LOVE it!! It truly is the hidden gem of Virginia Beach elementary schools!! The teachers are wonderful and take the time to get to know the students and their strengths and weaknesses. The faculty and administration are outstanding! You could not ask for a better Principal and Assistant Principal! Mrs. Barger and Mrs. Fockler are kind and approachable and want only what is best for all of the students! We love this amazing community that we live in and are so glad that our two children get to attend this amazing school!!!!!

Not much, my third grader is to read every night which I agree with and Math skills taught in the classroom are reinforced at home.

Wow, just wow! As the husband of the Principal who was bashed in some of these reviews I'd simply like to remind folks that these types of reviews are an eager outlet for disgruntled parents (and even a child as incredible as that seems) that did not "get their way" on this petty incident or that. The price of leadership is high. There are never easy decisions and sometimes the good of many overshadows the wishes of a few who will never know the sleepless nights or the worry she had in making those tough decisions. I will simply end this with some FACTS. Before my wife came to North Landing the school was considered "an average school with an old and deteriorating physical plant staffed by a faculty that was fine with mediocrity ." That was 17 years ago and now the school is CONSISTENTLY in the top 10 of all Virginia Beach Schools with SOL testing scores, has twice won the Governor's Award as a Top School in Virginia, with, while old, a spotless and loving environment/physical plant with a crackerjack faculty who CARES about the children and their education. Now she IS retired and I think justifiably proud of what she accomplished. We both know the newly selected Principal will be great and I only hope she doesn't agonize as much as my wife did on decisions she has to make.

Staff is excellent for the most part. The principal on the other hand is caustic and needs to retire.

The teachers are great, the principal not so much. My son went to the school as did my grandchildren, both times I had run-ins with the principal. This last time she accused me of lying about a parking situation, even after I had explained to her that I had been directed by staff. I can understand her concern, but not her demeanor. I think it is time for her to retire. As to the teachers, they are wonderful and this school is a hidden gem in Virginia Beach.

I went to this school for 5 years the teachers are AMAZING!!! but the principle isn't the best she could be....she didn't really do anything to help the school. Also she doesn't talk to parents that well. I had a teacher (she had a bad review from some friends) and my mom asked to switch teachers and she automatically said no and didn't even listen to what my mom had to say.

My grandchild has been at NLES for three years. I've been so impressed with all the care and concern from all the teachers. Before this she was in a private school in NOVA and it was a real disappointment. I hate to leave this school and all the wonderful people that make it so great.

My daughter is in the 4th grade and has attended this school since kindergarten and loves it. So far all of her teachers are very involved and understand the special needs of military families. Academics are some of the best in the state and it shows in the SOL scores. I've lived in Northern Virginia and the parent / teacher interaction here is much more personal and they are genuinely interested in the students.

As a family we love this school. My son loves all of the teachers there, and all the activities they have there. As a new family coming to the school we felt like we have been there for every and like family. If we could move back to the area I would in a heart beat
