Current Administration doesn't know how to handle difficult situations. Dr. Goldberg is flat out rude. Nursing staff phones it in. Had a bad run with teachers too. Last year the teacher allowed fidget toys and the complained the kids were distracted. duh.
This year my kid gets a head injury because the teacher replaced their chairs with balls to sit on. This are elementary school age kids. You give them toys they are going to play.

This school was a very bad experience for our family. They do not properly support gifted children and actually hinder their growth. I switched to homeschooling until we moved to the Chesapeake school district and my kids have been thriving ever since.

INCREDIBLE staff and faculty. My children have been at this school pre pandemic and now during the pandemic. Teachers have been superheros and the staff there are so accommodating. From the moment you walk into the office, its a warm and welcoming environment. My children are challenged and cared for. One of my children has an IEP for speech and I feel hes done very well at POV getting the services he needs. They host so many family events and do fun things for the students. When your child is panther of the month, they put a sign at your house to celebrate them! We love POV!! Your children will be known by name there.

Both of my sons were given homework, but never and overwhelming amount. Just enough to keep their minds learning.

Never in my life have I met a group of teachers who cared more about their students or their educations. Whenever I brought a concern to them. They genuinely cared, handled it abd i quickly noticed a difference.

My sons are two very well rounded, respectful, compassionate little men. I would love to take all of the credit. But I know Pov played a massive role in that.

I cant say first hand as neither of my children have an issue with this.

10 out of 10.
Excellent school that helped build a strong educational foundation for my sons.
Not sure who cried more when we realized we were no longer part of the Panther Family.... Me, My sons, their aunt or their Grammy

I think you can tell a lot by a school by the staff in the office. The staff that is at the front desk are AMAZING and friendly. They truly care about the students.

I can't tell at this point. We have experienced some bullying and the teacher helped with the situation; however, some kids are just awful.

Great! We are military and felt very welcomed when we started at POV. My son has Ms. Fesser and she is excellent. I think the school has a lot of kids who need a lot of help both mentally and economically. They do a good job at keeping families included and communicate well. The school needs to be renovated but most schools do. The principal is also great. He is young and seems receptive to the parents and kids. I love all the activities the school plans and the PTA seems very successful. Great school, don't let the ratings fool you.

My child is getting wrong answers on work she knows from second grade. Kids at this school are pushed aside because they're not being a nuisance.

It all starts at the top. Principal is less than par. I've taken my concerns to him a few times and there are no changes done until you involve the school board.

Worst elementary I've stepped foot in. My daughter was released to her father without supplying identification despite the fact that there are several signs posted stating it's required before a child can be released. They don't correspond with the child's file to ensure that the person picking them up is actually allowed to pick them up. (Future lawsuit) Parent pickup is a disaster zone due to lack of organization and parking. They basically throw the kids at you. My daughter's teacher stated that there would be no supply list at the meet greet your teacher. Low and behold first day of school a supply list gets sent home. My daughter has two different teachers for third grade. I believe it's due to the fact the their teachers are not competent enough to teach all subjects. This school needs help.

I must admit based on other reviews we were a little concerned about what our childrens experience would be like at POV. However, after having experiences at other Beach schools, much further into the Beach, as well as top rated schools in other states over the years due to re-locations, we are as equally pleased with POV. The staff is awesome, they sincerely care about the kids. They have an active PTA that promotes programs like ant-bullying, general kindness and the things that sadly many children must be taught in school these days. The academics are aligned well with other VB schools. Like many other schools, this school has suffered some mediocre to bad reviews based on factors not within the schools control. As parents we need to actively be involved in our childrens education, this goes such a long way regardless of what school our children attend. The education and atmosphere at POV are second to none. They do need the city to provide in a timely manner the funding for maintenance and repairs. Again, unfortunately a factor not within POVs control.

Completely negative experience at this school. My son was put into an inclusion class, where no homework was ever assigned, and he complained about being bored constantly. He was never challenged and by the end of the school year I was told he was tutoring the other students who were having trouble. Now I am having to work double time trying to catch him up to speed. He is going into third grade, and he is having the hardest time with understanding simple math. Thanks POV ... except NOT.

We haven't had any problems with a bully that has needed attention.

This school is horrid. Once, they lost our son on the bus. Dropped him off, where he didn't live. Thank God, he knew not to listen ( only time I'm thankful he didn't listen ) to get off the bus. Evidently, some random teacher told our 7 yr old, to get on the wrong bus, due to route changes. Additionally, the kids here are a bit rough. I feel like I'm back in Queens, NY. I moved from Nyc, to get away from an abrasive environment for my kids. We live in a nice community, but you'd never guess in this hell hole. It needs dire fixing...

Something terrible has happened with this school since the administration change. The students are out of control because nothing is ever done as far as discipline. My child has been bullied endlessly & to the point that I have thought of withdrawing her & homeschooling. The staff morale is so low that several teachers are leaving. I would never recommend this school to anyone until the school system corrects the problem with the administration. It used to be a great school, now it's probably one of the worst & the test scores show it.

Horrible school. The office staff and principle at this are terrible. My 7 year old was assaulted on the bus and they treated us like we were a nuisance. One year was more than enough at this school.

We have nothing but fantastic things to say about this school! The staff are caring, And surpass the needs of each child. Why is this school only rated a 4?!?
