If your kid doesn’t play basketball, they don’t matter.
There is no support for children with any health issues. Since they are not federally funded, they do what they want.
The diocese turns a blind eye to behavior of the staff, coaches and students.
As a matter of fact, the entirety of the school system, from CHS down to SGGS and St John’s is rotten.
No accountability.

Sitting in the sporting events I have seen the most unchristian behavior from students, athletes and coaches; coaches cursing at players and opposing coaches, parents cursing at coaches, players getting into refs faces. Not a Christian culture at all. They should be ashamed. I would never send my kids here if I were hoping for a Christian environment.

CHS has been an amazing fit for our daughter! After multiple military moves, she finally found a school that she considered 'home'. CHS encourages its students to be involved in as many academic, social, artistic and athletic endeavors as their schedule allows. There is literally something for everyone. The academic schedule is rigorous and she feels extremely confident that she is well prepared for whatever college she chooses to attend. The teachers are extremely caring and responsive - and go out of their way to make themselves available to students. The technology the school already had in place ensured an almost seamless transition to virtual learning during 2019. It took them 3 days to be up and running. Their commitment to see the kids back in the classroom for the 2019/20 school year was forward leaning, and their accommodation for families for whom that was concerning, was compassionate. The smaller size of the school ensures that teachers and staff all know her by name. Speaking of the staff, they are equally amazing - guidance counselors, admissions, developments, etc - all demonstrate a love for the school and the students. There is a joy they bring to their jobs. CHS puts students first and is lead from faith at the highest levels of the diocese. This attitude permeates every aspect of the day-to-day operations. The many volunteer opportunities mean parents have a chance to be as involved as they want. It's been a great way to get to know the staff and interact with them and see their commitment first-hand. I can not speak more highly of CHS, the administration, the staff and the students. The community has been a true blessing. (ETA - I can not speak to CHS's accommodation of learning differences as we have not had to address this - the only reason for the 3 rating in that area.)

Disappointing. We had high hopes for our kids at this school, but it hasn’t been a good experience overall.

Bishop Sullivan CHS is a very rigorous college-prep school. The students are held to a very high standard and they get lots of homework. The teachers are demanding, but in a good way, and when the students graduate they are very prepared for college. In fact, some former students say that Bishop Sullivan was harder than college. It's very common for teachers to communicate with their students late in the evening and on weekends to answer any questions a student may have. The teachers are very committed to helping their students succeed. I'm not anti public school by any means, but I can say without reservation that the money we spend to send our children to Bishop Sullivan is worth every penny, as they are definitely receiving a superior education.

Best kept secret in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake area. Due to age differences, I had kids in different schools to include the most prestigious school in the area. Shock is an understatement to describe how pleased our family (parents and students) have been with Bishop Sullivan. The teachers and staff are outstanding and go out of their way to support the academic and personal growth needs of the students. The courses and course load are academically challenging yet foster a love of learning. When compared my other children's experience who are in graduate school, this is even more challenging but at half the cost. Bishop Sullivan is focused on the development of the entire student (academically, physically and morally). If I had to do it again, all of my children would have attended Bishop Sullivan.

This is our second time around at BSCHS. Our older child graduated in 2003. She played 2 varsity sports, was involved with several clubs and graduated with with 12 AP credits. She was accepted into every university she applied for and went on to graduate school on full scholarship. When it came time for our second daughter, we never looked any further than BSCHS. The academics are tough, but there is plenty of support from teachers and staff.. Some of the same teachers our oldest had are still at the school, but there is a a whole bunch of new blood also.My daughter comes home every day with a smile on her face. I would highly recommend this school for strong academics, good opportunies for extra curricular activities and wonderful fellowship.

What sets this school apart from the rest is the dedication of the faculty. In fact, they go way beyond what I expect by working before/after school to help students. The curriculum is rigorous. It is not an easy school- but students are well prepared for college and beyond. I love the fact that they have students work directly with the community by volunteering. My daughter has developed a great sense of pride and self worth by helping others.

We completely dismissed this school because it was a Catholic HS, surely it's teachers and students were subpar. I was completely shocked. My other kids graduated from the "elite" double priced HS, after visiting here this was the only school we applied to. Your input matters here. Overachiever? no problem skip to honors/ AP, there are even younger kids in this years 9th grade. Nerds, Intl students from China, Jocks, Artsy students, non Catholic, all get along, very welcoming. Staff always smiling and goes out of way. Science dept. is 5 star, ties in competitions with the #2 high school in the country (Thomas Jefferson high) in competitions year after year, English dept amazing, award winning literary mag, incredible Theatre, and big on Sports,Fun football games, so far undefeated. Already met college counselor in 9th grade! Love all of the assignments/test schedule posted provided to parents (grades too) way ahead of time. College counseling meeting in 9th grade.I am a super picky mom, kids were in Blue ribbon schools and then what I thought was the #1 private school here. This is 100% the best HS in Hampton Roads. Only complaint? This school and its teachers are way too modest.

We love BSCH!! My children transferred to the area and have had the best experience at BSCH. My daughter graduated and now is attending one of the top Universities in VA. She had no problem getting in and has excelled. She said she has been so well prepared. My son also loves the school. He knows it is harder work but it is preparing him well. The teachers, staff and fellow students are great. We highly recommend this school.
