We have been parents of Sacred Heart Academy students for many years. We chose this school for the Christ centered education it provides for our children. While the academics are challenging and engaging, SHA sets itself apart from other private schools because of the full formation of its students. Students are encouraged to grow intellectually, and in moral and virtue formation. The beauty of our faith is interwoven throughout the day. I have witnessed my children learning to think beyond themselves and to consider how they can serve those around them. They still complain from time to time (as children do), but I feel the education at SHA is helping them to build a strong foundation that will assist them later in life.
We also appreciate the model the administration, teachers, and staff set for all of the students. They go above and beyond to meet the needs of each child and devote countless hours of personal time. In addition, the curriculum is easily accessible and there are no hidden lessons. While tuition has been a challenge for us, the comfort of knowing exactly what is taught is priceless. Students are guided in truth and beauty. We are thankful for the opportunity to be part of this community.

I have been a parent at SHA for several years. Over the years, we have experienced ongoing leadership changes, continued inconsistencies, and a clear lack of effective communication and transparency. Despite raising concerns and remaining engaged, our expectations have consistently not been met. As a result, we made the decision to withdraw our children.

Sacred Heart Academy allows parents, students and faculty to bully your student.The bullying by Administration parents and students against kids is heartbreaking. If your child has ISPs In public education they are IEPs) learning disabilities, and are on the spectrum, the bullying is out of control. They do not honor what the IEP team suggests for your student. Its so sad, it is heartbreaking to the soul. The Administration handles disaplining, by pitting students against each other. If you complain, you are told the leadership is perfect. They have no accountability. They will do absolutely nothing to help your child feel comfortable. They know what is being done is wrong, they do not care. Moving from Sacred Heart to a small charter school was the best decision our family made. After spending thousands and thousands of dollars to attend, the disappointment in the school was real. Since leaving, the last 2 years at school have been phenomenal. All the IEPs and learning issues were addressed. No bullying, whatsoever. This kid went to making straight A's. The student is now thriving at a very large public high school. Within in 3 days of being there they had a IEP meeting for him to address his issues. What a difference. Think long and hard on your choices. This is our families experience. So we are only.speaking.of our personal experiences.

Most teachers are not trained to be teachers, they just want discount on tuition for their kids. The first grade teacher has been observed to bully the kids and parents and nothing is done to protect the kids. I feel like the teachers teach kids to be mean and make fun of other kids in the elementary classes. Very mean here. It doesn’t feel like a nice Catholic school here, it’s in name only. I like the middle school teachers but what I saw in elementary was sad, so many sad faces.

My child has flourished at this school. The teachers take the time to know the students across the grades. My child feels comfortable and happy. She knows the principal and the assistant, and gives them hugs at school functions. It is a caring and loving environment that challenges my child, gives the students the opportunity to learn a foreign language since preschool, and provides an excellent religious study.

My child attended for six years and the faculty did not know him or how to meet his academic needs (gifted) - the principal acknowledged that she didn't know how to best serve him. After six years in this small school this educator and her staff did not know this well mannered, polite, respectful, and gifted learner. The teachers all have children of their own attending to receive a tuition discount and most of the staff does not have the proper credentials and/or degrees to teach the subjects they teach (e.g an interior design major and a nursing major teaching core classes and a psychology major teaching English). Their Catholic standard for religion classes is seriously lacking as well citing some things are too controversial to defend and present as standard within the safety of their own "Catholic" school as they have so many other denominations attending as well as teachers who are not Catholic. They rarely have religion class and only meet the sacrament requirements as it would be too embarrassing for SH Church to not allow the Cathoic school students to progress formally in their faith.

I really cannot imagine that there is another school in the country that I would feel as comfortable sending my children to. Standardized test scores are excellent so I know my children are learning and being challenge, the children are extremely well catechized, and it is a safe and caring environment. There is not a weak link among the Kindergarten through 8th grade teachers -- each is excellent.

We have had children at Sacred Heart Academy for the past six years and are very pleased with their education. The school has a heavy focus on STEM education, thanks to some wonderful benefactors and receive a well-rounded education between academics and specials (foreign language, art, music, PE, etc.) They are taught Spanish from a very young age, which is an advantage. We are especially pleased with their religious education at Sacred Heart Academy. A faith-based Catholic education with students attending Mass every Friday and other Holy Days throughout the school year, our children are grounded in their religion.

We've had our children at Sacred Heart since 1997, and would not have them anywhere else. SHA has rigorous academic standards, upheld by outstanding teachers and administrators. They are first rate -- we would not trade a single one of them. Their new building is exceptional with modern classrooms, and its new science lab is very nice. Our first child was ahead of the curve when he entered high school because of his education at SHA. High school guidance counselors have told us repeatedly that they instantly recognize the SHA kids by their academic performance and the positive and respectful way that they interact with adults and their peers. Just yesterday our 6th grader made an observation out of the blue about the similarities among the philosophers from Greece and the Orient. And she was spot-on. I once gave a presentation to the 4th grade about Virginia history, and those kids knew about the triangulation of trade and tariffs! They provide sports (basketball, track, cheerleading, etc.), strong music and arts instruction and (the best part) a values based education that teaches children to live out their Catholic faith and embrace its heritage. We love Sacred Heart.
