CHC is a beautiful school. The administration really cares for the students individually and will take any feedback to heart. We have had an incredibly positive experience at this school and we recommend it highly.

Great school! We have had wonderful experiences for the last 5 years for multiple kids. Great teachers and many opportunities for trying out new things. I'm so happy that we made this choice. We have friends who have moved to CHC after other local schools and are always very happy with CHC.

It's awful and most teachers are fake, its pretty much based off if your family works there. I have dredged my experience here and I'm leaving this comment so no one has to suffer any longer.

Very nice teachers. Cape Henry has a really strong support system for our growing LGBTQ+ community. My daughter feels very comfortable expressing her true identity and has been on same great trips with caring people.

We love CHC! Our 2 children have attended since PK3. They are Middle and Upper School now and we have been thrilled with their education. My children each have different strengths and areas where they struggle. CHC is able to bring the best out of both of them. It is truly a community where my children are known very well. They are challenged, supported, and loved. We couldn't imagine sending them anywhere else!

I have been truly impressed by the teachers at CHC. They are well-educated and masters of their craft. They are easy to communicate with and are quick to respond to parent questions.

We transferred from public school almost 3 years ago. The teachers are devoted to the school and students. Since the class sizes are small, teachers get to know students individually and can meet with them one on one. The curriculum is significantly more in depth and covers more topics compared with our experience in public schools. The Nexus Global Studies program is outstanding. My children are much happier and engaged. We highly recommend.

My daughter attended Cape Henry from PK-12 Grade. I am most grateful for the individual attention given to her through her years at Cape Henry. In particular, instruction received in writing and public speaking served her well in college and continues to do so in her professional career. The teachers and staff are truly dedicated to providing the best for each and every student.

Cape Henry Collegiate is an exceptional school for all types of students. They offer a broad variety of AP courses that are challenging as well as offering regular courses. The school gives individual attention to each student's path to maximize his/her potential. Instead of all students being forced into the same classes, a CHC student is encouraged to "think outside the box" and create a course load that is both challenging and balanced. There are many opportunities to become involved in extracurricular activities. My son had a tremendous experience at CHC and is now an Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia.

There are some students with the differences. But I do not know anyone with the differences not related to the school employees. Seems like they only accept relatives.

Strongly disagree. One black student used to ride school bus with us and quit school. I have never seen a black student at Cape Henry driving a car while 60% of local population are black. My student get approached every day by other students lead by a guy who comes to school on Bentley bullying my son "Mini Stalin" probably because our Russian roots. It seems to be the history class is very productive to develop strong impression on out children about Joseph Stalin. But how does my student relate to Stalin since Stalin was Georgian, not Russian. The History teacher forgot to mention about Georgian Stalin so the racist Bentley kid picks on a student with Russian roots.

The officers of the school are suppressing the leadership of students in intention to keep control. Check on the VA Education Board web site if you any of Cape Henry teachers has a permission from the State to aducate.

Teachers spend about 5 minutes on actual instructions during 1 hr class. The remaining time they just talk non related to the subject conversations. The history teacher is particularly interesting. He is paranoiac about Russia and keeps talking nonstop how bad Russia is. It is ok to talk bed Russia considering the location of the school but it is not ok to get hysterical in the class telling to the students that Russia invaded Afghanistan in order to get access to warm water sea ports. Look at the map if Afghanistan has sea ports.

When my child came to school in the fist day after transferring from another High School the High School Principal approached my student to welcome and said: "You will get a detention of come to school dressed like this." Then we found that this kind of manner was normal at Cape Henry. It may be ok for locals that gotten used to such welcoming but for outsiders like us it looks like something to improve.

This school teaches the while child. Each student is considered as an individual; what do they need, how do they prefer to learn, what do they want to learn? Educators at CHC collaborate and plan cross curricular activities that appeal to all learners. They begin true laboratory science in pre-K and continue until graduation. They learn how to think rather than what to think.

From the moment my family arrived on CHC's campus, we felt welcome and accepted. My son is young and while we don't know what he will be great at, we felt that CHC would provide him with a breadth of opportunities that would allow him to thrive and discover his passion.

Our family moved to Virginia Beach five years ago and I credit Cape Henry Collegiate with the successful transition and acclimation of our son to the community. The warmth of the teachers and the welcoming nature of the students helped him feel safe, confident, and successful almost immediately. As a result of the strong sense of community and the many opportunities available to students, our son is willing to take the risks necessary to grow and has developed a sense of confidence that makes us proud as parents. Cape Henry Collegiate has helped to develop him as a scholar, provide him opportunities as an athlete, and support his interests in the arts. Our family couldn't be happier!

Cape Henry Collegiate is exceptional in academics, athletics, and in numerous other opportunities available. Twenty one AP courses are offered. A fantastic Global Scholars Program is also available for interested students. The school challenges every student but also has excellent faculty who truly care about each student and are willing to go the extra mile to see each student flourish. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with the education that my son is receiving!

Both my children attend Cape Henry and although I have not been 100% happy every year and I do feel there are teachers there who should be long gone, I do feel my children are not numbers at the school. My lower school student is recognized by upper school teachers and my upper school student is known by lower school teachers. Is the tuition high? Absolutely! Do they not always get the gifted kids as truly gifted kids (there is a difference between gifted and over achieving)? Yes they don't always get it. BUT-when I have a concern, I am heard and my children feel safe and happy in a family atmosphere where the class sizes are superior and the academics are substantial. If you are a public school person then don't even bother, but as far as private schools go, Cape Henry is definitely worth looking at.

Cape Henry Collegiate provides an educational environment that stimulates thinking, encourages creativity, and provides the avenue for students of all ages to dig deeper into the "big picture" understanding.

When I became a parent I knew that I had just accepted the most important and challenging job I would undertake. My wife and I were fortunate enough to find an amazing school in Cape Henry when we moved to Virginia Beach. My son started at Cape Henry as a Middle School student and we had so many concerns about how he would fit in and if he would be able to transition academically from the public school where he had gone. Every concern we had was anticipated and addressed before school began. The personal time spent with the Middle School Director, the group of current families who planned events to welcome us, and the availability of the faculty far exceeded any expectation we could have ever had. Cape Henry has not only set him on a path to succeed in academics, it has taught our son skills like teamwork and collaboration. Amazing school and community.

It's safe to say that CH's elite status weighs in on grade point average and consideration when applying to colleges (considering 100% of kids graduating from CH are accepted). The school isn't cheap - in fact it costs well over the in-state tuition for UVA. One thing CH should mention before you attend is that if you donate a significant chunk of your wallet annually, you will be kept in high regard. Also, the school should mention that they only have 1 physics teacher to accommodate every physics class. This would be fine, however this teacher blatantly abuses his power as a high school physics teacher. When an entire class of students fails a homework assignment and then the corresponding quiz has to be postponed, a red flag should pop up that says this teacher's methods are not effective - after all, how is a student supposed to ask questions and learn in a supportive environment when he is afraid of the teacher? All in all, the school, with downsides (as any), prepares the student fairly well and has a (mostly) friendly and educationally effective environment. For those not willing to excavate every penny from your bank account, perhaps you will find it better elsewhere.

Cape Henry Collegiate School, Upper School: My grand-daughter completed four years at Cape Henry. She has always been an outstanding student but Cape Henry provided enrichment and emphasized core values above and beyond what can be expected from even the finest public school. Most impressive has been the well-spoken poise and presence each graduating student exhibited by the end of their final year. No longer "kids," students graduate as young adults, each ready to offer society a willing hand by continuing education and commitment to service. Entrepreneurs, scientists and engineers, artists and authors, linguists and mathematicians -- students who set out to pursue any path emerge prepared to excel with encouragement from Cape Henry's fine staff. Cape Henry has it all. Small class sizes, involved parents, diversity, cultural programs, arts, foreign language. Everything we want from a school is right here. Our son just finished kindergarten and is looking forward to going back all ready. He loves Cape Henry and has absolutely thrived. If you want a quality education for your child, and a variety of experiences, this is the school for you. We are looking forward to many more rewarding years here.

The benefits I see at Cape Henry are small classes, dedicated smart teachers, a warm environment where everybody knows your name. The school works to bring out the best in each student, to capitalize on each individual's strengths. They do have lots of requirements and programs so that each student is exposed to all disciplines and athletics and needs to reach a certain high level of proficiency in academics, but the school celebrates individual strengths and interests and does not try to make each student fit a particular mold. There a a lot of foreign students here as well as many opportunities for educational travel. It seems to be a place where you'll find outstanding artists, athletes, math genius's, writers, poets, musicians, readers, all held to a high moral code and a school honor code. As a parent of 2 graduates and one lower schooler, your kids will benefit the most from enrolling in 1st grade or as soon after that as possible.

Cape Henry offers amazing opportunities academically as well as in the arts and sports. We have incredible faculty who always listen and always keep lines of communication open which I feel is so important in the growth of a child. The school truly becomes a second family and it is a family that provides and facilitates what is right for YOUR child as an individual. They nurture and grow each child's strengths building the confidence and maturity to take on the world. Having three children attending Cape Henry is such a blessing and we could not be happier. Once you step foot in the halls of Cape Henry, you will never go anywhere else!

My favorite thing about CHC is the super POP of energy you feel as soon as you walk in the door. That feeling of my child learning the world in her classes, w/her teachers & from the student body there, is exactly what I wanted for her from the minute I set foot in the school. I loved the project about South America w/each class doing a different country & presenting it at Assembly & hearing Julie Scherrer describe it to all of us parents, the woman is a force of nature & makes you want to jump up & DO something. And the Science Fair was so cool. My then 6 yr old child asked a million ?'s about the Mars Rover. amazing to me! She breathes it all. Trust me when I say that I've more than "explored the options". Yes I'm one of "those moms", it's my education & my instinct. I know it's the most right for my eyes wide open, never stops thinking child.

Cape Henry Collegiate is truly one of the finest communities that I have been fortunate enough to be a part of. I am both a parent and an employee and could not imagine my family's life without CHC. My son is able to explore every imaginable opportunity in arts, athletics, and academics. He has thrived as he discovers his talents and has loved connecting with the older students who are positive role models and inspiring individuals. I have always wanted what is best for my child and making the financial sacrifice to send him to Cape Henry is well worth the life long benefit.

When we found out about Cape Henry we could not wait to visit even though it was 40 mins away. From the time we stepped foot in the door the overall tone was warm and welcoming. We absolutely loved the idea of our girls getting an opportunity to attend. When they were accepted it was like hitting the lottery! So we made every sacrifice for them to go and a year later we don't regret one single thing! They genuinely care about the kids there. Learning is interactive and fun. Teachers are very approachable and positive. Most importantly my girls love going to school everyday! We couldn't have asked for a better place to send our short people. I can on and on about CHC but you just have to go in and see it for yourself!
