We are very pleased with this school. It has been a great experience for our son. He is a good kid, but was not reaching his potential in public school. At RMA, he is surrounded by teachers and administrators who care, he is a three sport athlete and thriving socially as well. It's not always easy, but the difficult times are probably more valuable as he learning to overcome and deal with obstacles (difficult/different people, managing a hard academic load, being away from the comforts of home, managing expectations, and taking advantage of opportunities such as the flight program and weekend activities). We would send him here again.

My child was at RMA for her freshman year. During that time, she was at the mercy of boys that bullied her and even though she told the school counselor and I told not only the Dean of Academic and also General Wesley, nothing was done. This ended in an almost catastrophic event and my daughter is no longer at that school...but it's because General Wesley decided not to deal with the issue of bullying but to remove my child...who had done nothing wrong. On top of all of that, emails concerning other children were sent out to parents who should not have known the personal business of other families. This is a horrible place to send a child, unless you're willing to pay a lot of money for torture and fear.

When even the administration is not accountable for their actions, how can the students be?

I used to attend RMA, and now I am in college. As a female my first years were challenging at RMA, the uniform and the amount of boys overwhelmed me; however, I learned how to not only deal with being a woman in a man's world, but I learned how to work with boys. I feel it was an important skill I developed that continues to benefit me in my college career and no doubt when I enter the real world. Though the uniform is intimidating it teaches discipline, character, and allows all the students to see each other as equal, unlike many private and boarding schools, which has a caste system based off money and material things. If you are a parent with a daughter, and you are concerned about sending her here, please do not be! She shall be challenged in ways that not only promote her feminism but gives her confidence as a woman intellectually, which is important today due to the emphasis on sexuality created by Hollywood. Academics is perfect for this century! Teachers are there to help each student without ostracizing students who aren't making A's in class by working on their level. There is so much more I could say, but I recommend you attend an Open House!
