As a former student, here is my opinion of the school. Learning/teaching, sts taught things but they didn't help me truly learn, this caused me to really struggle in high school. Only a couple classes out of like 8 DID teach me something. Teachers at sts are very biased, they spend like 15 minutes out of 45 per period yelling at a specific student or the whole class. They don't discipline the students enough. Also, they always make the whole class get in trouble when there was one singular student that did something wrong. Social & emotional support: they did ok with this, they had guidance but it was literally or similarly the same exact lesson every single time "lets go over the virtue of the month", like yes, its important but we did it every single year. The school had a counselor that taught the class & you can talk about your problems, but I honestly don't think anyone goes to the counselor that I know of. Special education: it is terrible, if you have a child that you want to enroll into sts, don't. There curriculum for special needs is not good, they will literally plop your child into an ordinary class with no like helper or anything. Every single special needs kid I know, left the school. Safety: I don't know how it works but I didn't feel safe at that school, they had no like detectors for all students & just people in general. Family Engagement: they have a ton of activities that people liked at the school that includes all family & friends like galas, auctions, etc. I have personally never been to any but I bet they were inviting. Additional stuff: every single review on this page is most likely preschool parents, if you are a preschool parent, good for you but as your child grows older, they curriculum won't be fun anymore. Preschool to first grade are probably the most fun grades, so as you get older it isn't fun anymore. Next thing: they are EXTREMELY short-staffed, I was planning to go into geometry freshman year of high school but no, I was in algebra 1 because they didn't grade my test to move up. For, I think, my seventh grade year at sts, I had a substitute teacher for a very long time before they found an actual teacher (who by the way, wasn't the best). Also most of the teachers are parents of the current students attending sts. Next, the principal is not the best either, he is intimidating & takes things way too far. Lastly, mass & religion are mandatory subjects. There is mass every morning on fridays. theres def more, but ya,bye:)

STS gets a lot of 5 star reviews from parents who praise the religious, but as a child who went there, I can barely get through half of them without cringing.

Teaching:
I can count on one hand the number of teachers that are actually nice AND are good at teaching. Many of them had extreme favoritism and would laser focus on kids who they thought were "trouble-makers", never giving them a second chance. The learning itself was ok, but they never prepared me for the amount of assignments in high school or making a steady studying schedule. The tests are just homework assignments they changed and they are constantly understaffed, half the time there is just some random substitute who has no idea what class this is.

Social-emotional:
The school has a HORRIBLE diversity in students, and I'm not talking about race. It seems as if either you all have one opinion, or everyone hates you.The "popular" kids are really just bullies who use others to make themselves feel better. So many times I didn't want to speak up or express myself out of fear that I would be judged. The kids there are really two faced in front of teachers and many are just spoiled. Oh and some kids got suspended for touching others inappropriately...suspended not exspelled

Special education:
if you have a kid who has disabilities, look for another school. STS has little to zero resources and again, the selective few of kids are horrible to those a little different.

Safety:
A good part is you don't have to worry about kids bringing guns to school, no instead just worry about the principal. Ask any recent STS student and they can tell you stories about him picking up kids by the collar and shoving them in lockers. He may seem like a great guy, but trust me when I say its not what it seems.

Religion:
maybe a benefit of the school is the intense catholic unity. Mass every Friday (not optional, no matter religion), an actual educational and fun religion class, and overall unity. I am christian, but not catholic, and it surprised me how little some people there know about other religions. Overall very good for rooting faith, but if you want your kid to learn about the outside world, shove them in camp or something, cause this school does nothing for that.

Don't get me wrong I had good memories here too, but that was mainly with my FRIENDS, the people I actually enjoyed being around. That plus some of the actual awesome teachers and fun youth groups. The rest left me with social anxiety and stress.

The school's academic policies can also be unnecessarily rigid. Students are often given little flexibility when they face challenges, as extra credit opportunities and makeup assignments are generally unavailable. Rather than encouraging growth and improvement, these policies can leave students feeling discouraged and overwhelmed.

Despite frequently promoting itself as a school that prepares students for high school success, I do not believe it lives up to that claim. Many students leave without a strong foundation in essential academic skills, time management, independent study habits, and critical thinking. High school requires students to be prepared for increased academic rigor and responsibility, yet many graduates appear to enter that environment at a disadvantage. The school's emphasis on strict policies does not necessarily translate into meaningful preparation, and there seems to be a gap between the school's stated mission and the actual outcomes experienced by students.

Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the school is its leadership. In my experience, the principal has been dismissive, unprofessional, and unnecessarily rude in interactions with students and parents. Concerns are often met with defensiveness rather than a genuine effort to listen and address problems. Strong leadership should foster trust, respect, and open communication, but the administration frequently creates frustration and dissatisfaction instead

My daughter attended St Tims for preschool in the parttime 3s and parttime 4s programs! She had great experiences, and I would recommend this school to anyone of the Christian faith! My daughter has a wonderful understanding and excitement for Jesus already

Exceptional. We spent three years at a local public elementary and saw all sorts of inappropriate behavior ("bullying" could describe much of it), with teachers unable or unwilling to take any action. We struggled with a public school that didn't communicate, and a constant flux of new teachers.

We can't say enough about STS... It truly is a family and offers so many things to these growing children. We are SO grateful we decided to join STS and haven't looked back!

Homework is provided daily, but often very little/none (except reading) on weekends--- for second grade. In addition to homework, the school offers an optional, weekly "gifted" / advanced math homework that earns the kids points toward various prizes - so it's not required, but the kids are encouraged and rewarded. In this case, the problems are applied and "out of the box" problems that really help them understand the concepts. There are other similar assignments (advanced writing assignments, etc).

We've consistently experienced teachers that communicate a lot with parents and are genuinely invested in the children. My daughter has struggled with anxiety (minor), and her teacher has been phenomenal... She goes out of her way to notice if my daughter is struggling during the day and makes a point of giving her easy opportunities to communicate if something is bothering her- and it's been AMAZING. The entire staff is awesome and cares so much about these kids.

We've seen the teachers bring in current events and help the kids see where to apply their lessons into their everyday lives. The curriculum is advanced and the teachers have been very effective in telling my girls' attention and interest.

In addition to the teachers and staff being everyone, caring role models, and teaching the kids how to deal with difficult situations, the school has a monthly assembly where the entire shool father's in the gym and is assigned their "virtue of the month". This month, for example, the virtue is "kindness". I can recall others like respect, gratitude, etc. The month kicks off with a discussion of what the virtue means and ways in which the students can apply it to their lives. It's awesome. In addition, the school goes to mass every week, and the priest is so good as giving a homily that applies to the lives of the kids... Just another way for the kids to be given positive, constructive guidance on how to approach life's problems and struggles.

The principal, assistant principals, and staff are tremendous. Our family was known by or first and last names the day we started. The principal is a celebrity to the kids and genuinely care about the kids and the success of the school. The same with the assistant principals - they are so caring.

I've seen some basic bad behavior from kids and I've seen the staff take immediate, effective action.

Starting in third grade, for example, the students take a pre-test at the beginning of the unit and it they do really well, they are moved into the "advanced" group for that unit, where they cover more applied, deeper-thinking concepts that are based on the unit. In the upper grades, I believe there is an "advanced" track for the entire year (meaning I don't think the kids test into it each unit). We've found this to be extremely effective and we've watched or kids' standardized test scores accelerate much faster than average.

I can’t really speak to this one. I would love to see more students being brought in with learning needs. It would expose the gen ed students to more people who they would see as “different”. Exposure to all kinds of people is important. Not to mention our faith urges us to love all.

St. Tim's has been home for the past 3 years and it has been welcoming. The Catholic faith is of the utmost importance, and the campus is incredibly safe. They're always raising the bar, and it has been terrific so far.

We have been at St. Tim's for 7 years and all three of our children have had a very positive experience. Our children have been blessed with wonderful teachers. They focus on academics as well as both spiritual and personal growth. The school also takes a differentiated learning approach providing help for those who need it and challenging those who are more advanced. We have really enjoyed our time at St. Tims and have made lifetime friends along the way. It is a wonderful community to be a part of.

I have a child in high school and when I was searching for an elementary school years and years ago I thought, because my son was so gifted, perfect and brilliant I'd look for the most superior academic school I could find. I laugh at myself now! He could have gotten a rich academic experience at many places--- but what he did receive, and what my younger children are now benefiting from-- goes so far beyond the academics at St. Timothy (which are great). My children are learning to be compassionate, service-oriented, polite, confident and creative! Thanks to a Catholic philosophy that values life and the dignity of every individual they are thriving and happy learners. I am so grateful to the St. Timothy teachers, administrators and community for our superior school!!

The wonderful community of teachers, staff, students and parents at St. Timothy's were so helpful in my child’s transition to St. Timothy’s in third grade. Partnering my child up with a student and letting him shadow the year before, participating in moving up day the last day of school, and the STS Family Ambassadors made such a difference.

My children have had fantastic teachers who individualize their instruction to meet each of their academic needs (advanced math and writing). I also really appreciate that St. Timothy's focuses on teaching great life skills in programs such as Religious Education, Mentoring, Etiquette Challenge and other activities to give back to the community.

We have been at St. Timothy's since September 2015 when my daughter entered Kindergarten. We chose the school for a combination of faith formation and academics and have been very pleased with both. I am consistently impressed with the character of the students at the school, particularly in the middle school which is a testament to the education that they have received all along the way. The older students are kind, polite, respectful and caring towards all of the younger students. We feel like our daughter has gotten an excellent foundation and instruction in the Catholic faith and have been very pleased with the overall academic program. In speaking with friends who have children in the surrounding public schools, we feel that her curriculum particularly as it relates to math, spelling and reading is above where she would be otherwise. We also like that there is a dedicated aide in every class from K-2nd grade which gives the teacher a lot of opportunity to do individual and small group instruction in those formative learning years. We love that parents are encouraged and expected to volunteer in the school and that the teachers know how to utilize the extra hands. The administration is excellent and there is a very strong sense of community/family across the school.

When my son started at St Timothy in September of 2017, he was three years old and knew and recognized all of the letters of the alphabet. He knew and recognized the numbers up to 50 and knew the rest up to 100. He also knew how to write his first and last name without help. We have been working with him at home on spelling, math, and recently started reading. He's even attempting to read alone at times.
I also noticed that there was no academic progression beyond what we were doing with him at home. He was basically repeating all of the steps he learned from his previous preschool. During the school tour I remember having a conversation with the director expressing my concerns and expectation, and why I chose St Timothy. We discussed the individualized learning process, meaning if my son was ready to move on to the next part of the lessons that he wouldn't have to wait to move on with the class as a whole. She reassured me that St Timothy could accommodate.
After having a long conversation with the director of the preschool program recently, I was disappointed to learn that (in her exact words) it's not the job of the preschool school teachers at St Timothy to teach any reading or math and all of that will be initiated in Kindergarten. She's was pleasant about it but informed me that if I wished to incorporate reading/math or anything beyond what St Timothy teaches, I'm more than happy to initiate that step at home (which I already am). She even informed me that the next pre-k class will be the same process, so not to expect anything more from the program.
To summarize it, I am disappointed with the way things are progressing (or not progressing) academically with St Timothy. I've spoken to a couple of parents who feel the same way but they're willing to stick it out. I'm currently in the process of looking for another preschool for the next year, even if I have to get placed in a waiting list or sort.
What's even more disappointing, the school's main focus is truly "to fill the seats" in achieving the goal of being "the biggest catholic school in Virginia" not student academic advancement (my personal assessment). Like right, the main focus is returning the re-registration forms so they can accommodate the 10 parents on the waiting list, not so much what can we do to help our current students advance to the next step (again, my personal assessment).

Our family has truly found a home at St. Timothy Catholic School. The teachers are amazing. Not only are they challenging our kids academically but they are also developing them socially and morally. The staff and administration are hands down the best we've ever experienced. They are caring, kind, and truly do everything with the best interest of the children. Where else can you go and have a principal high five you when walking in? Or stop by your car at carpool to tell you what a great job your child did. St. Tim's is a true gem and we are so grateful to have our children enrolled in the school!

Regarding the Feb 22nd post about the middle school teacher...
I am so sad to hear that you think the school is losing faith base. Maybe going to a Friday mass and watching the older kids interact with the younger ones will restore your confidence in the faith at St. Tim's. Or attend an adoration at the school and see how reverent the children act in front of our Lord. It is simply beautiful. Before your post, had you reached out to the teacher to better understand the context of his comment? My child is a middle schooler and he absolutely loves how this teacher teaches. He challenges the children to help them form an opinion and articulate why they have that opinion. This is such a life skill! These classroom discussions spark such great conversation in our house. I am sad that your comment is now leading to censorship in the classroom.

I can't not respond to the parent speaking against the social studies teacher. I have been at this school for 8 years. I could not wait for my kids to get to middle school, just for this teacher. He lights a fire within my kids. He makes them think and he helps them form their own EDUCATED opinions. He can engage even the quietest child to debate and question the politics of the world. HE HAS NEVER COMPROMISED OUR CATHOLIC BELIEFS!!!!! My kids come home and TALK to us. They come home and WATCH THE NEWS. They come home and ASK QUESTIONS. All because of this extremely special teacher. Because of this parents complaint, they are no longer allowed to discuss politics. So I would like to applaud this parent, for taking away the fire. Happened to read the last post by the parent upset about the history teacher. This particular teacher has done an outstanding job over many years at St. Tim's. This teacher does not lower grades because of political views one way or another. The lines between politics and religion have crossed over centuries. Children in his class are encouraged to debate and voice their opinions without fear of reprisal. I appreciate the teacher's enthusiasm and passion for history and most of all the ability to have children see things from a different perspective - even if it differs from their parents and what they hear in the news. Makes for great dinner conversation. The teachers at St. Tim's are the backbone of the school. They love the children and work hard to provide a good catholic experience for all.

My son's history teacher told my him this week that the Holy Father has no right to question Donald Trump's Christianity! I send my children to this school for reinforcement of our Catholic values as much as anything else and the fact that a teacher's personal politics are undermining those values (apparently on a daily basis according to my son) is extremely upsetting to me. St. Tim's is losing its focus on building the character and faith of our children.

I feel very fortunate to have a school like St Tims where my children can be nurtured through their early years of school. Morals, religion and academics are all at the forefront of importance here. The student body is like a family - the older kids are so kind to my younger kids, making them feel welcome and included from day 1. The administration is always open to ideas from the parents and willing to make changes to accommodate. New capital improvements are undertaken every year. I also feel very confident in the safety of my kids at St Tims, which is incredibly important to me in this day and age. Two thumbs up for STS!

Our five children have attended St Timothy school over the last 19 yrs. St Timothy's is academically strong and offers sound Catholic teaching and traditions. The staff and teachers treat our children as individuals and challenge them to become the best they can be. Even the school nurse offers excellent care when my children have been sick until I can get there to pick them up. The principal and vice principal are always present, look you in the eye and are very approachable. We are confident in our decision in sending our children to St Timothy's school. It is truly like family.

St. Timothy's Catholic School has provided our children an excellent education within an environment that offers genuine faith formation, an academic challenge, and a warm interpersonal connection. Despite it's consistent success, the administration and faculty at St. Tim's are continually working together to enhance and further improve what they offer our children. While Northern VA can be a fast paced stress filled place to live, St. Tim's has been a very positive aspect of helping create balance for our family. Unique to St Timothy, it has created a culture that cultivates academic excellence tempered with Christian values--truly a "great" school. Shaped by the Principal Mr. McLaughlin’s leadership, his staff and the facility are totally dedicated to grow their students to their maximum potential. All teachers instruct with flare and style and shepherd their students; their examples develop maturity and confidence in their students. To highlight a few, our daughter was fortunate to have experienced mentorship from Mrs. Venafro, Mrs. Cowan, her popular social studies/history teacher, and language/literature teacher. One major benefit from the St Timothy’s curriculum, students receive a daily math class; this reinforces the discipline to grow confidence in math skills (most schools do not have math instruction every day). FYI, we recommend if you are interested in St Timothy to schedule a school tour by Mrs. Irons with an office call with Mr. McLaughlin. St Timothy has a remarkable relationship with Paul VI high school; both schools have a similar culture for excellence in academics and developing young adults. In conclusion, St Timothy is a 5-star, first-class academic environment where you feel God’s grace & wisdom every day; their clergy lead by Father Weems radiates spiritual energy.

I am a parent who has 2 children that attended St. Timothy's Catholic School from Kindergarten - 8th grade. St. Timothy's is, as others have mentioned, more than a school, but a faith-filled, family community. In our community, it is common to demonstrate strength and support in times of adversity. We teach our children to stand up for their beliefs whether it is showing support for our school on websites such as this, defending "Right to Life" in D.C., supporting victims of natural disasters, providing school supplies to Africa, supporting Wounded Warriors, having a baby shower to support mothers in need and much more. Yes, these are the values that I want to instill in my children. I am grateful that we still have schools like St. Tim's where God is not only included in our school, but is at the forefront. While I feel the academics at St. Timothy are excellent, I also do not consider an education that includes God, a sub-par education. St. Timothy's may not be the right school for everyone, but for those who call it home, there is no place like it. For those who choose a different path, we wish you the best and keep you in our prayers.

Except for not finding the administration rude, I absolutely agree with the points made in the review of Sept. 16, 2014. The academics are most definitely sub-par and do not come close to those of Fairfax County Schools for the same grade. Also, the tactics of gathering parents and/or staff with children at the school to quash that Sept. review with an avalanche of 5 star reviews is morally and ethically abhorrent. Note the back to back dates of the 5 star reviews after the Sept. 16th one. Coincidence--I think not. At least the other 5 star waited until April. Is this the ethics you'll instill in the children? How will anyone take those reviews seriously? This alone says volumes about the school. Also, the inappropriate discussions and behavior of some of the students are alarming at a school supposedly rooted in Christian beliefs and, no, all elementary schools do not have the same issue of inappropriate discussions and language in the earlier grades.

St.Timothy Catholic School continues to be an outstnading school community,. The teachers and administration are never satisified with the status quo, but are focussing on continuous improvmenets in academics, facilities, and extra-curricular programs. Our family has had a child at this schools since 1998 and our fourth child is in Sixth grade. In our experience this school continues to evolve focusing on improving and improving every year. I currently have 2 children attending St. Timothy Catholic School and our 3rd will start next year. My daughter is in 2nd grade and my Son is in Pre-K. SInce my daughter was in Kindergarten, my family and I have always felt welcome and part of the community which is important to us since we are not originally from VA. My children have excelled not only in academics but socially and continue to grow religiously. The administration, office staff, teachers, and even the maintenance crew have always been courteous and helpful. STS is more like a family than someplace that just educates my children. I could not imagine my kids not being STS kids! Thank you St. Timothy for letting my family be a part of yours!

We have had children at St. Timothy School for over 15 years. It is a second home for our family. Our overall experience with the school has been very positive. Our children have received a solid education, have met many friends from wonderful families, and have built a strong foundation in their faith. Over the years, we have watched the school grow to meet the ever-increasing needs of the students. In a world where technology is changing the educational landscape, St. Timothy is striving to address the individual needs of each student. The school has made large investments in technology to assist with this goal. Over the years, the school has also added many extracurricular activities to give students the opportunity to explore many areas of interest. We are very pleased with St. Timothy's. We had one child there K-8 and currently have a child in Middle School. The faculty is excellent and cares about the students. The principal and administration make improvements every year. We highly recommend it!

My wife and I couldn't be any more happy with St. Timothy's....it is a fabulous school! We've had children go through every grade (Pre-school through 8th grade) and graduate and we have children currently enrolled. Not only have they received an exceptional education, but they've learned to know and love their faith. The teachers and staff are caring educators who take pride in their work. As someone who has been around the school a long time, I feel the school has never been stronger than it is currently! St. Tim's is thriving and its great to see that they continue to strive for improvement every year. I believe STS is the best investment I can make in my children in educating them academically and morally and helping them to become a person of faith and strong character. St. Timothy Catholic School has been the best investment in our children's academic success we could have made. We have been parents at St. Tim's for over 11 years and our children have experienced every grade, Pre-K-8 including an alumnus who was well prepared for a challenging high school curriculum. From Administration and staff, to teachers, we are extremely impressed with the care that has been given to our children. The academic excellence St. Tim's strives for is evident when you see the success of the graduates. It is also evident with the individualized attention students receive throughout the grades. Take a walk around the school on any given day and see how engaged both students and teachers are in the learning process. Of course, all this learning is rooted in faith formation and Catholic identity. Students help one another and are welcoming to new families. In addition to technology advancements and individualized curriculums throughout the grades, most especially noticeable in the Middle School with various class levels for Math, STS initiated a Family Ambassador program to be of assistance with our new families. Extremely impressed with St Timothy. Last year our twins attended the 2 day preschool program. The teacher was phenomenal; on a scale from 1-10 I would rate her 15! I couldn t believe the individualized attention we received; she always took the time to email us and let us know how the twins were. Also the use of the class blackboard system allows parents to see the lessons, songs, prayers enabling us to reinforce lessons at home. The preschool director does a fantastic job of engaging parents with monthly coffees; parents get to know each other and ask questions as well as provide feedback. This year our twins are attending the full day Pre-K4 program and I continue to be amazed with their progress and learning. They love going every day and as parents we consider that a huge success and a testament to what a wonderful program they are running. At this age, we wanted our children to go somewhere where they are nurtured, well cared for, safe and develop a love of learning; they have that and more at St Timothy s.

Exceptional School! I have had children at St.Timothy school for 10 years and there has never been a better time to be a student here than now. The administrative staff and teachers have done a lot of work over the past three years to provide so many opportunities for our children. Opportunities for quality education with differentiated learning, advanced placement, technology based learning and tutoring services. Opportunities for personal growth with the many, many clubs and activities. And most importantly, opportunities to grow in faith and virtue. I'm so happy my children are in a loving and safe environment where they can talk about God and celebrate Christmas for the real reason, where the teachers and staff really care about the students and where the students care about each other. We are beyond pleased with the quality of education our son is receiving at Saint Timothy Catholic School. The teachers and administrative staff are friendly and involved. They encourage parents to be the primary educators of their children, especially regarding Faith formation, which is an idea I subscribe to 100%. I worry about what would happen to a child's faith when they go to a school where even the mentioning of Our Lord's name is forbidden. Sending him to STS, he is being raised as a citizen of the world, strong in faith and character. That is important to me.

Our daughter has been at St. Tim's for 7 years. One of the things that attracted us to St. Tim's was the multitude of academic offerings(basics plus music, art, pe, resource), solid test scores, and warm welcoming environment that promotes a strong sense of Catholic community. It seems each year gets better and better. More initiatives are being rolled out with individualized instruction in mind. This has been helpful at the middle school level where students have varying abilities in Math and Language Arts. My daughter loves St. Tim's and we can honestly say that the teachers are superb and care for the students. There is low teacher turnover which makes us feel there is strong morale and love for the school. As my daughter prepares for high school next year I can honestly say St. Tim's has prepared her well for the next step in her education. I recommend St. Tim's without reservation!!!

There is no place I d rather send my children! I have a 2nd grader and a younger one who ve been here since preK. While our Catholic Identity is what draws many, our academics are equally extraordinary. My 2nd grader reads above grade level; due to fostered love of reading/methods of enrichment. STS has grown with new science labs, advanced academics, and instructional technology. The focus on our Catholic roots helps kids grow in faith, morals, and charity. I ve never met educators with such compassion/respect for their students. They go beyond what s expected to ensure students receive the best education. They provide individualized instruction to challenge each student. You will find a mixture of veteran teachers /new teachers (also 6 alumni). At STS, the mission to spread God s word and His love is lived out not only in word but in action. I encourage you to come and visit the school. Let the community speak for itself. The teachers are nurturing and the environment is highly conducive to learning. I am taken back how each year has been better than the last for my kids, and I am thankful. Thank you STS, for being more than top- notch, but a home away from home.

I have had my son enrolled at St. Tim's since kindergarten and he is now in second grade. I was raised Catholic, though do not attend church regularly. Following an exhaustive search of private schools in the area, St. Tim's seemed like a great value. Top notch, individualized instruction was what I was sold. I was assured that religion and Catholicism was not the primary concern, but that academics were at the forefront of the education. This is not even close to being the truth. The education is sub-par. Teachers are seemingly chosen for their salary requirements and not for their education and experience. The administration is incredibly rude. Make no mistakes about it - religion is their only concern. They are promoting a hate filled, exclusive environment which is not the Catholicism to which I subscribe. Beware when you assess this school.

Saint Timothy's is awesome. My wife and I transferred our daughters from another local private school, having become aware of the challenging curriculum offered to our kids' grade levels (K - 4). The catholic mentoring is nicely intertwined with the academics, and a wide range of special academic opportunities are available (e.g. art, spanish, music). The teachers are so involved and energetic, the administrators very helpful and organized (Ms. Irons the registrar is amazing!!!!), and the principal (Mr. McLaughlin) has the entire program well dialed-in. I am so glad we chose this school....so will you.

We have two children who have graduated from St. Tim's and two who still attend. As recent reviews have indicated, this school has always provided strong academics, a wonderful environment and a foundation based in our Catholic faith. The strategic goals recently outlined for the 2013-14 academic year continue to demonstrate that St. Tim's is focused on building even stronger academic programs with increasing emphasis on Math and Science while coupled with strong Language arts programs. St. Tim's has been an exceptional experience for not only our children but for the entire family and their commitment to continuous feedback and growth is what we expect in such a wonderful school.

This is our first year at Saint Timothy School. We transferred from a very reputable public school system however we missed the Catholic environment, thus the decision to send our daughter to STS. This was the best decision we could have made for our daughter. Her math, spelling, hand writing and science skills have absolutely soared. Coupled with the strong Catholic traditions and there simply is NO COMPARISON. My daughter is a different child....she loves going to school, has made wonderful friends. She has learned so much about her faith and thus is becoming a strong Catholic girl, proud of her faith and strong in her practice. We could not be happier with our decision to join the STS family.

This is the 8th year that I have had a child attend St. Tim's and I have several children attending currently. We have been very happy with the teachers, curriculum, parental involvement, and this year the new principal. I have been pleased to see my children step up and help someone who is feeling left out, and other issues because of the Christian values that they are learning. The teachers are helpful and responsive, the technology is the latest, there is a counselor as a resource for many issues, and they just added an extra math enrichment program this year. I find that the values, challenges, and environment have been so good for my kids. I have a public school at the end of my street, and I have sent them 5 miles to St. Tim's for the past 8 years, and still have 2 young children to start, so have many more years to go....happily!

Saint Timothy School is a wonderful school for my children! This is a Blue Ribbon School with excellent academic achievements. They teach core curriculum resulting in overall academic scores in the top 10% of the country. St. Tim's has prepared my children not just academically; but, also in strong catholic morales and values. It takes a "village" for children to succeed and St. Tim's offers that from the caring teachers, to the school counselor, to the involved administration and faith- filled priests. From preschool through eigth grade, my children have learned more then basic academics. They are taught Spanish from Kinderg. up, they have a state of the art computer lab and science lab, unseen at many schools, they are taught faith, love compassion and respect for others. Mind, body, spirit and academics ...what a great approach in raising your children. St. Timothy School is a loving community......yes, community who cares about the entire family. With the dynamic principal and zero tolerance for bullying, we are thrilled to be raising our children at this wonderful school over the past 8 years!

Do not let the ratings fool you. I have had my children at this school for more than 6 years and I am giving strong consideration to moving them and we are not the only family considering such a move. The school has had a longstanding bullying problem. The teachers and administration are very rude and the way they speak to the students is terrible.My child has been told by teachers and administrative people to "shut up," "what do you want!", sit in a corner and make sure no one looks or talks to them - all of this in a "catholic environment." We have dealt with it for this long because I was hoping that speaking with the administration about it would stop these things from happening but nothing has changed. Seeing the unchristian attitudes exhibited by the school why would we keep them there? The school has a new principal who seems like a nice person but what I have discussed above continues and is known and tolerated by him. The reason why I did not rate it as one star is that there are a few (a small number) great teachers that exhibit the loving and nurturing attitude you would expect in this environment and I would have hoped the other teachers would have learned from them.

St. Timothy School is a wonderful school that provides academic excellence and a warm, caring environment. Three of my children are St. Timothy graduates and have gone on to excel in high school and college thanks to the stellar academic foundation St. Timothy's provided. My last child is currently in Middle School and loves the electives offered, the dedicated teachers and the strong sense of community. The school graduates students that are prepared for the challenges high school offers, both in and outside of the classroom. Sending our children to St. Timothy School is easily one of the best decisions my husband and I have ever made.

Saint Timothy School is a great value, because the kids are learning 21st century skills. Their faculty is extremely well qualified, especially their support staff, and they truly care about their students. Students are taught Spanish, art, and music. They have access to individualized instruction by the Resource Center when necessary. The library is large and modern, with computers and a librarian who teaches students how to do research in the 21st century. The counselor seems to know every student by name, and helps the students to find their footing. The middle school offers students electives in robotics, art, PE, music, research, improv, public speaking, storytelling, astronomy... and the teachers choose the electives they are passionate about. The middle school is also broken up into houses or advisories, which are groups of students from 6-8th grade, so the kids really feel a sense of belonging. My kids do look forward to going back to school at St. Tim's every year.

Excellent teachers Strong principal/school leadership Challenging academic programs I firmly believe St. Timothy's has all three of these qualities to make it a GREAT school. Both my daughters went to the school, from start to finish. My husband and I knew early on they would be attending a public high school, but we felt they would be able handle the pressures of this transition if they had a strong faith background. They even had a leg up on the academics since St. Tim's has an accelerated curriculum.

St. Timothy School is a Blue Ribbon School that teaches to the mind, body and soul. My children have attended this school for 7 years and have excelled academically and socially. The school does not teach to the SOLs; but, teaches the basics and when they take their standardized test, they score years beyond their grade level counterparts nationally. This says to me that the academics are sound and that they are prepared for any high school upon graduation. Within this faith community, our children are prepared in more ways then academics......they are patient, kind, considerate, respectful and have wounderful character traits based on their virtues.

I was a student myself at St. Timothy's. Over all, it was just terrible. Teachers were all mean, ALWAYS shouted to get the kids quiet, and ALWAYS threatened with demerits! Carpool ladies were really mean. One was crazy about following the rules, and screamed at my dad! All he did was drive us up closer to the school so we wouldn't have to walk as far! Pretty much all the kids there are really snotty, spoiled, and mean. No manners, nothing. They are really rude and a bunch of bullies. With the girls, there were ALWAYS "cliques" and popular groups. The uniforms were stupid. ESPECIALLY for the girls! St. Timothy's is really sexist. They let the boys get away with just about everything, they get to wear pants in the winter, and the poor girls have to wear SKIRTS! Girls didn't get as much as respect either. It was terrible! I'm now going to a public school where you can wear whatever you want, and I'm LOVING it WAY better than St. Tims. I left last year. Best thing I've ever done in my life. I had no friends, and it was just terrible. The lunches were also really bad. If you are reading this, please don't send your kids to this school. I got a demerit just for reading a book! Awful

I attended St. Timothy's School from kindergarten through 8th grade and I definitely enjoyed my experience there. I had met so many great people and have made friendships that have lasted throughout high school. I believe that this school prepared me well for the challenges that many may face with the transition from elementary/middle school to high school. The teachers taught me to be organized and to stay on task. Besides preparing me for high school, I believe that it created a strong foundation to be successful in life.

I have had all three of my kids attend almost every grade so far at St. Tim's and have been so grateful for this school. It is a very Christ-centered environment for the children, but also for the parents and anyone who comes into the school. I feel my children have gotten an excellent education, especially by what their test scores reveal, not to mention their report cards. The preschool is also wonderful with loving teachers and assistants. I would highly recommend St. Tim's to my friends and family and to anyone who wants their children in a loving and spiritual school environment.

St. Timothy School has provided a great environment for my children. They love to go to school because they have found good friends with similar values. As a parent, I feel it is important to surround my children with children from like-minded families. Overall, the academics are good - great in some areas. The areas with weaknesses are being addressed. The parents are involved and have a great sense of community.

We LOVE St. Tim's - both of our children went through the preschool and are currently in the elementary school. It says a lot about your school when the children come home happy at the end of the day! For us, the Catholic faith formation is important and that it be a part of all aspects of their day. Academics are also important and we have found that though our children have different needs academically, they have been met and challenged further. The support and friendships that we have found at STS are treasures, however the one things that truly sets St. Tim's apart from other schools for us, are the traditions - the First Communion Breakfast, 8th grade Farewell, Christmas Paraliturgy - just to name a few! We are proud to be a part of Saint Timothy's!

I belive this is one of the greatest things i have done as a parent, sned my children to St. Tims. They are great. They really want your kids to succeed but give them the rules they need. The kids are all really nice and I like the schools involvement to stop bullying and red ribbon week.
